So, in ten years the slogan has gone from “Proud Heritage, Bright Future” to “Aston Villa do not the fear the consequences of relegation from the Premier League”.

Apologies to the fans? Not a bit of it. Our new chairman had no cause to apologise but the owner and late chairman has remained quiet and leaves the talking to others.

It is probably true that so long as the team manager and players show the fight and guile required to try to create a miracle escape, the supporters will almost forgive anything. Or – if relegation does occur – will the realisation then set in and cause a reaction?

I have to say that I have respect for Garde. His demeanour is usually calm, but he has given away his emotions outside the dugout from time to time when on-the-field play displeases him. He is, I can declare, visibly human when caught off-Garde.

Back in the office it is clear that he does try to address matters that the fans are also concerned about. The complaints against Guzan and others have been fizzing all season, and so Garde decided he’d seen enough ‘merde’ and took action to reverse out of the ‘cul de sac’. Bunn came out of the oven and immediately earned his crust – particularly in saving a penalty against Leicester at a highly important juncture in the game.

Garde has, though, inherited a highly improbable squad and to massage a recovery out of this lot is – I would say – nigh impossible. Unless – of course – he’s able to bring in a couple (on loan) who are inherently capable of making a difference.

The defence now looks more settled, though not perfect, and it’s the attack that now seems to attract the main focus. We have to score to win, right?

Garde’s eventual ploy of having 3 big men on the field against Leicester certainly had the desired effect, and it’s maybe that kind of battering ram tactic that is needed: it may succeed against Albyun for example. But all of them have to improve the accuracy and regularity of their goal attempts – plus we need more service from the wings.

The minimum we have to get to survive is another 7 wins and 6 draws, or 8 wins and 3 draws. And we have to start scoring more to achieve either set of stats. Since Liverpool are not getting anywhere, perhaps Benteke could come back on loan? Yes, that maybe sounds daft, but in my view the need for a spark is getting desperate – and surely it’s better for CB than freezing on the bench? OK, you’re right, it’s just a pipe-dream.

  1. Our play in the final third has been the weakest portion (in a season of mixed performances all over the pitch) but we are finally seeing (minute) improvements here. 5 on target in 14 shots should mean an ordinary night out but this itself is improvement (how far have we fallen?). Lets go down fighting if thats our fate and get a cohesive unit for next season’s marathon.

  2. JL,
Agree about Remi, in my opinion he could become a great Villa manager. Big Ron was always my favourite but i never rated any of the others from 1962 onwards, possibly JG, some have been worse than pathetic.
Nice to see Lambert having his usual effect, even Rhodes can’t score now.

    Villalore,
Agree mate, as long as i see effort then IMO improvement will come and i’ll be reasonably satisfied.

So the Manc rat, Englands great coaching hope has gone 6 games after taking over at a top Spanish team without producing a win. The EPL is a crepe league with crepe managers, crepe coaches, crepe players, very crepe officials and admin, but according to Greg Dyke England will win the WC, jokers.

Can’t understand Remi letting GG go to Florist, look at his stats for Sat. Meanwhile we have Wastewood.

  3. We have missed the survival boat i’m afraid. There just is’nt 3 worse teams than us. And the swing is too great. We have got 4 points from poss 6 and still 9 off. Losing to sunderland and norwich were the final nails in the coffin.

Toon will stay up (i would of liked shelvy) Bournemouth will stay up, I think norwich or swans will go with sunderalnd and villa.

Just seeing a villa team with no hutton, guzan, richardson, westy gabby, nzog would be enough for me right now.

Steamer the prem is crepe. I recorded the ‘super sunday’ games thinking they may be decent and ended up fast forwarding it in the end. utd pool game especially, couldnt string 2 passes together. Hype

    Bring on the championship.

  4. Interesting that coverage of Leics on BBC MOTD and MOTD 2 was the shortest cover they have had this season, but of course they were playing Villa…!!!..and MOTD2 did not show any of Huth’s misdemeanours .
    No bias there of course..!!

Good leader again JL, and like most, I am solidly behind Garde, but do not see much changing in newcomers, as I am sure, the feeling is that we are too far adrift for anyone to settle in in time, to make a difference, except in maybe one or two positions, but they would have to be game changers.

Garde may also be finding that he is now getting a much better response from his existing players, and then he has the potential of some of his under 21/18’s.

  5. Excellent piece John, these are fascinating times again at Villa. We still have our proud history and if as we are led to believe relegation Is a ‘phase’ we still have a bright future…. We can dream about Benteke but the truth is even as a sub at Liverpool he has moved his career on.

  6. Pun-tastic JL

I’ve always been on Garde’s side, he could never be held accountable for the reduction in the quality of the playing staff and through determination, principles and some balls, he’s got the team playing more effectively. 4 points off two high flying teams is not to be sniffed at especially considering we’re rock bottom. We’d shout about that if we were being obscure in mid-table.

Yes, he could have replaced Guzan sooner but perhaps Bunn took some time to come to terms with what Garde was looking for and now has his chance, I think we all feel better that Guzan is on the bench, same goes for Hutton and ensuring the likes of N’Zog never graces Villa Park again has required Garde to be a real manager and not a mouthpiece.

Clearly, turning the Titantic called Aston Villa took longer than any of us wanted but we are where we are through previous neglect and while I don’t expect much from us in terms of surviving, I can see the small steps of progress and can see Garde producing a very fine Villa side we can all be proud of despite Lerner’s lack of investment.

FOLAFAH is still true today, we need fresh investment not a mgmt restructure. Hollis for all his business experience cannot transfer a business model to a football club. We all know that this is a results business (on the pitch results determines our financial stability). Attractive winning football gets bums on seats, gets more TV exposure, gets more new fans, sells more merchandising, meaning more revenue. How is this done, by spending money on players and players wages. Sure external investment via sponsorship helps the coffers but compare our deal to the top 4, compare the level of global branding on our shirts with that of top 4. Apart from Chelsea/Man City, they’ve achieved their level of investment and therefore revenue by investing in quality players and youth development and reaping the benefits.

Money needs to be spent probably firstly on regaining prem status and then on high quality players who will ensure Villa become the best again. The level of investment needed far outweighs Lerner’s contribution over 10 years. But will acknowledge the training facility investment, albeit has their been an on the pitch return of investment, i.e. have we produced many first teamers that we benefit from or are we producing Albrightons were some other club gets the benefit.

If you consider FFP, then we need to become very clever in generating global income to offset those rules and allow us to develop. Fox and Hollis maybe the clever men we need to allow this but clearly not with Fox as CEO. Proud History, Bright Future can only return when Lerner goes.

  7. DO’R: Yes, I was pun-ting along the river and the words just slid into place! 🙂

Good points made by you. Personally I just can’t see what the difficulty is at VP when you see the likes of Stoke having such a season: Arsenal can count themselves lucky yesterday i.m.o. Mark Hughes hit gold with some of his signings.

Paul: Time marches on, doesn’t it? I can see Steamer getting the call yet! 🙂

  8. JL,
Just reading about AC Milan suing a player for telling them he was 19 when he was 29, i thought i might pass for 25, what do you think ? Remember Eamon Deacy told Villa he was 18, i think he was 24.

  9. Aston Villa supposedly have sent scouts to Belgium to keep an eye on Dennis Praet and Youri Tielemans, according to Belgian outlet HLN.

At least the Mail have a sense of humour.

  10. I agree we have missed the survival boat, I think it will be us Swansea and Sunderland, still can’t believe the swans sold Shelvey to Newcastle, given the scenario. There is no one area we have been poor in, we have been shocking at the back, the midfield and inept up top. Garde is trying to address this and we have looked better in the last two outings, but it’s far too little too late. It’s criminal what has gone on at VP these last 6 years and it breaks my heart to see our current plight, because I nbelieve it will get worse before it gets better, once in the championship we will struggle for a good few years.

  11. There was nice write up in the star today shambles at villa
Seen another stat delph scored 3 goals in 6 years over 100 appearance at villa hàs 2 already at city our midfield couldn’t find their arse with both hands

  12. evening all, I still haven’t given up, we had 2 decent results against 2 mean defences and midfield’s.
WBA while defensive may prove easier to beat also west ham and Norwich coming up 2 possible wins there. Liverpool have no forwards 🙂

Norwich’s next 6 games are not easy and if we beat them they will be pulled in, I think some select players will arrive pretty soon with all the rumours of people leaving and we now have a frame work top slot them in.

  13. It seems that both “Steve and Tom” will be attending the AGM on Thursday, how nice of them, i’m sure the AVST will make them most welcome, vet the questions so they don’t get upset etc and then they can decide which AVST member will be the puppet director on the board.
Lerner STILL hasn’t told us what he’s doing with the club has he ?

  14. The link above really shows how poor fullbacks limit our entire game, requiring mid-fielders to cover excessively and not be able to push forward to attack. I’m not sold on Bunn but as he doesn’t dominate the area either and the CH’s have been the main reason for a better defensive showing still better than guzan at distribution.

we are desperate for a forward who can get goals, if Kosak isn’t the answer and we get nobody in I would risk Hepburn -Murphy, I think he has the Mindset to cope.

  15. Steamer: “Lerner STILL hasn’t told us what he’s doing with the club has he ?”

Ah, well my take is that last May he said that *if* he couldn’t find a buyer he would appoint another chairman – which he has now done.

In other words, he’s not (now) going to sell. Well, that’s how I read it.

Better start supporting Coleshill United, Steamer, and persuade them to use claret and blue colours to help you believe you’re watching AVFC. Otherwise this Lerner thing could cause you damage!

  16. Mark: “…if Kosak isn’t the answer… “

A bit early to ask that question I’d say. He’s at least shown good positioning, has been there when the odd chance has come his way and generally harries well.

After so long in the stiffs he’s not doing too badly. Just needs to score one or two to complete the package. We probably need to start asking questions in 2 or 3 weeks if he doesn’t score.

  17. Our squad is extremely disjointed and lacks quality in most / key areas. Moving forwards we have to build a side good enough to get straight back out of the championship, this is no easy task, there are teams that have been trying this for years , plus we could be going down in company with big clubs( possibly bigger than us) in Sunderland and Newcastle or Nowrich or Swansea who have more recent experience at that level and are better prepared.
Our problem is attracting players to such a shambles of a club, with low wages and zero ambition we are the new Leeds Utd, a club that was described by a Sheffield United fan ( who obviously doesn’t like them) as sad to see the demise of such a big club, it’s like seeing the teacher you hated at school slowly deteriating with dementia.
The AVST meeting will be a sanitised affair, there will be no tough questioning, no supporters back lash just PR spin and soft fans lapping up the vision for the future and a new 5 year plan. I’d rather they got a rocket up there arses and the true feelings of a hurt and angry fanbase vented at them with both barrels, I want them walking out of that meeting under no illusions how we feel, and to prove a point next season I would call for a boycott on shirt sales, as this seems TF only response to the crisis” we’ve sold more shirts than before” twat

  18. JL- I agree, thats why I said If, unfortunately this is the window and I still feel we need that something up top. At the moment we have been forced to play a certain way to suit Gestede/Kosak which is fine as a tactic but would like to see someone more mobile presuming gabby is not going to do the job to form a more fluid attack. The changes I mentioned earlier may change that dynamic yet who knows? we still lack bodies in the box

  19. Interesting to see that Garde is saying the fans turning on the payers at Wycombe was a turning point, and a big kick up the backside for them, which I see as Garde used it to his advantage, and perhaps told the players a few home truths.

Will be interesting to see if Gabby will make maybe his last appearance tonight, unless of course he suddenly finds some form, and scores a few goals…Maybe Rushden Murphy will also get a start with JG.

Garde is saying tonight will all be about the pride to wear the shirt…

  20. Mark/Paul,

Yes, the strike force is not achieving much, is it, by way of goals. I alluded to that in my article.

As Paul suggests, we may see an interesting change or two tonight, just to test the waters…

  21. Can’t see Flabby playing under Garde if the story i heard is factual, anyway he’s tripe and has been for four years, we’re bad enough without any passengers on board.
I’d give Kinsella, Calder, the Oz kid, Russian Audrey – Hepburn and Zog a run out, but not the fat parasite. It doesn’t matter about winning even if we were capable and Wycombe need the Man City money so at least Villa can contribute to football after destroying everyone’s vision of it during the last six years.

  22. Steamer,

That Simon Winter article just about sums up everything that is wrong at VP, including the new blood sucker Hollis who is here to do the bidding of Lerner and Fox of that we can all be clear, what some leeches will do for a few pieces of silver, he mentions all the good done by Lerner throughout his reign omitting the fact that Lerner has completely destroyed the pure fabric of a great football club, something that eluded Ellis so stand up Randy you have to be applauded.

With the addition of Hollis we are now complete, a board so lacking in football knowledge that if you were to make a film about it the chances of it even making the bargain bucket at Woolies would be a stretch because the idea would be so implausible and the plot thinner than a Kate Moss “G” string.

The only person of real power at VP that can see where our problems lie is Garde but lets be fair this guy has an immense uphill battle to try to do his job with this load of cretins lurking in the shadows of the Villa Park corridors, I just hope that Remi Garde can come out of this job with a small piece of his reputation still intact because I genuinely believe he is a good football man set afloat amongst a sea of imbeciles.

    GSAVFC

  23. I’m going for a record low crowd tonight at VP, it’s a game no one cares about as we won’t beat Man City in the next round anyway, it’s a game we don’t need tonight and we should have completed the job down there.
I would give the likes of Hepburn-Murphy and co run out.
I see Bennett is off on loan again, leaving only Richardson as back up to Cissokho , why we never went the extra couple of million and bought Cresswell I’ll never know, what’s the old saying, buy cheap buy twice! But there again that sums up most of our transfer dealings these last 5/6 years.
I wonder how much we will have to spend this summer, given we only had a net spend of £7/8m this time and have spent sweet FA this window.

  24. I see John Doyle giving both barrels today on tvb
And with all his raving their is some good sense amid it,why now at less than 2 weeks to go have we signed noboby just more out on loan, released at our cost Cole and even talk Sinclair going, who I don’t rate that great but compared to zog Gabby he’s best of what we have one game along kozak that’s it
We have a squad of crap outlasting managers galore guzan Hutton zog Gabby a few to name
Garde came out with was it a scripted piece to absolve him of blame,Swansea got new manager lift last night ,garde has got nothing out of team the fans abuse last week got only reaction all season

  25. hi steamer how are you cannot believe you think this frog knows what he is doing it is only injuries that has Hutton dropped and he still plays Westwood who to be fair would have struggled to get into the lefal team he is that sh ite admit there is improvement but not enough see herr flick has a keeper sorted gaud help us if he is like the rest of the sh ite they have brought am going to the meeting on Thursday and have asked for a vote of no confidence in fox and co as not fit for purpose and for them to resign on the spot
don’t suppose i will be allowed to speak but will give fox a nice Glasgow kiss for him to welcome in the new year is can get close enough ,
we are down with 17 games to go is a disgrace you can now get 80 to 1to stay up on Betfair if you fancy it steamer so that tells you all you have to know
whats your adress and phone no gaz as will need some one local to brum to bail me out after thursday night is things go to plan all the best

  26. Evening everyone

Haven’t posted for a while as displaced something in my back – v painful to the extent of going to hospital. Hopefully on the mend now.

FIrst of all , loved the podcast Matt and Dan – so much sense and very entertaining.

Also very much enjoyed article John and again, it sums up the situation very well.

Watched the Leicester game – outrageous refereeing – typically denying us a penalty which one suspects if Huth had done that to Roony , would have been given. Also annoyed by the stupidly biased commentary Atterface gave onTalk Sport – (radio on for tea making) According to him we are the worst football team ever – nothing about Leicester – and yet we drew, were denied a pen and had more passes and more possession. It just shows that you can never trust the radio commentary as you would think they were watching a different game. Yes we lack confidence in the final third but we didn’t play that badly against the no 2 team. I thought we showed more confidence and belief and guts than previous games. We have to approach tornight;s game the same way.

I want us to go out for the win tonight – we should be carrying out some confidence from Saturday and this is why we need a win .

Disappointed no one has been signed yet – and seeing Shelvey go to the toon, and Bournmouth getting Austin is rather nerve wracking. I am sure that Remi is trying but as he said its going to be difficult to get players to join a no 20 relegation struggler.

    Villa win tonight 3-0.

  27. Nice to hear your a bit better Jen, not much fun when its cold as well.
    JD,
I doubt you’ll be allowed to ask something that may be a little “sensitive” mate, it’ll all be stage managed, can’t have anyone upsetting the big frogs can we ?
    Mark,
By all accounts the GK story was BS.
I thought Lyden was a FB converted to MF, apparently he’s playing CD.

  28. This is what it’ll be like EVERY week next season.
    JD.
Don’t upset the guests on Thursday because the AVST on onside with them.
What kind of chairman doesn’t know for certain whether his club is up for sale, he said “to my knowledge” As we suspected, a yes man looking for a pension top up.

  29. Steamer: “According to Hollis the club isn’t for sale at the moment.”

As I mentioned earlier, Lerner said that he’d sell *or* appoint a new chairman.

So I don’t expect any sale … unless there’s a change of mind.

  30. Lerner’s white hope for selling ,is sailing down the swanny, our record in cup matches last 5 years is criminal v lower league sides, our bunch of yellow wuss most of them playing tonight,
Every other club throwing all money at it Lerner not even signing loans yet wait to end month save money,no odds save pennies lose millions in mean time
And guzan showing tonight v 4 rate opposition shows how crap he is plus the 3 wise men who thought he was premier league standard or was it play him to please Randy Lerner’s USA mates

  31. I’m not certain but i can’t see why not, S75 has just bought one and he’s happy with it. I’ll get him on here tomorrow. He got his from a woman in Cannock who loads Kodi on the stick, very clever.

  32. At last a goal…..

    another defender….thank goodness for Clark….

Glad that with all the fog, I gave up halfway to B6, and turned round and came home…..unless there is some real effort….it could be a long time before my next visit….I may have wasted £10 on a ticket, but I have probably saved another By not completing my journey..

Also not in a good frame of mind at the moment, after the Mum of our local Lion’s club chairman has passed away with a sudden heart attack, which was totally out of the blue, and she was also a very fit lady.

  33. Sorry to hear about that paul x

Was about to say when will villa ever score 2 goals in a game!

Who would of thought celebritity big bro to offer more entertainment than villa.

Being left behind in the transfer market as well as leaugue. The ambition shown this window mirrors where we are going. Bournemouth, norwich, geordies at least trying to fight it. We will struggle to win any games simply as we xant score enough goals

  34. steamer- half the family have got Kodi one way or another.
we awill have to wait on the keeper have seen it from several sources but you never know and I think Debuchy deal is done, don’t know what that means for Richards.

  35. I don’t think this game was streamed tonight . James I’ve got android tv and a kodi app on it and Matt T directed me how to get prem league matches .via an app. Even I can load it – but I get the games but they are in slow motion . I assume it’s because my internet is too slow . I checked kodi tonight and there wasn’t any cup games on it .

Five unbeaten games now . A poor performance and a win will be better than a good performance and a loss in terms of spirit and confidence . We scored two goals -phew .

Sorry to hear of the lions mum Paul .

  36. Just seen the goals on BBC sport and looked good. Nice to see Clark get in the box. good cross from Carlos Gil, and Gana’s was via Sinclair and Rudi. Sinclair had several shots in the highlights, and Ayew, but we need some forwards from somewhere.

    Everyone else making good signings…..

Thanks for the thoughts Andrew & Jen. I am sure Alun will appreciate them. Certainly makes you think when you are in your twilight years.

  37. Darren O’R:
“Clearly, turning the Titantic called Aston Villa took longer than any of us wanted but we are where we are through previous neglect and while I don’t expect much from us in terms of surviving, I can see the small steps of progress and can see Garde producing a very fine Villa side we can all be proud of despite Lerner’s lack of investment.”

Exactly how I feel! I’ve little confidence in avoiding the drop, but I’ve made peace with that prospect so am not feeling stressed out very much. Am actually looking forward to the new experience (for me, anyway) of playing in a different league; different teams, different stadiums, different nights of matches, very different styles of play — for me, it’s a new adventure. Of course, it’s easier for those of us who live on this side of The Pond because we’re not surrounded by vermin and baggies constantly denigrating the greatest club in the Midlands to our faces. I’m genuinely saddened for all you Brummie Villans who must endure the scorn from our inferiors.

  38. And, like many of you, I’ve also been impressed by the quiet and thoughtful studiousness of Garde; definitely a world of fresh air from our previous lot of skippers!

  39. James Gill , just got an answer about Kodi , yes they do work anywhere as long as you got wi-fi and your isp does not block it , which l read you can disable that blocker , if you got Facebook , there is a Kodi Page , which l use quite a lot as you dont get instructions for Kodi , but there is also a lot of stuff on youtube , the build l have on mine is Royalist , lm not computer savvy so l bought mine already loaded , £60 , if you know what your doing you can buy just the Amazon Firestick ( £35 ) and load it yourself . good luck .

  40. Texas Villan: ” I’m genuinely saddened for all you Brummie Villans who must endure the scorn from our inferiors.”

Oh, that’s okay, it’s winter hibernation time anyway! 😉

And – who knows – when we come out of hibernation the flap may be all over and Villa have been saved!

    Well, in my dreams!

  41. Is garde another bully calling out freakish last night again, yet no word on guzan who was shocking listening to all comments last night, freakish is young lad and playing with likes Westwood only hurts him
    Thanks steamer must try kodi

  42. are you kidding me JG? I expect he is as frustrated as we are with him and wants him to respond. Grealish is no use to Garde the way he is playing and might well find himself out the door to provide funds if h doesn’t buck up

  43. Mark k
Grealish came last year and along with benteke cleverly delph looked good this year looks completely different player is he another 10 game wonder I don t know but to me bawling him out in public not the way ,saf didn’t do that way with young ladshe would rest them from spotlight, listening to commentary last night our players don’t even look good v 4 division opposition, seen another good point on villa summer spending as much as I didn’t like cleverly we had to replace him for free so that eats up what ever extra Lerner spent in summer, back to cleverly last season we had benteke as great player, vlar delph cleverly steady players then all Lambert’s crap and what made it worse when eg Sanchez came in we thought he was good ,it was just he was playing in same side as Hutton Richardson Westwood zog Gabby he looked good and gave us hope same for gil, sinclair

  44. A solid display last night. Wycombe put their heart and soul into the first half and made things extremely difficult for us. They had nothing in the tank in the 2nd half and we picked them off comfortably enough in the end.

Good performers – Richards, Clark, Gana and Ayew (MOTM again)
Average performers – Westwood, Richardson, Lyden, Sinclair, Sanchez
Abysmal performers – Gestede, Grealish and Guzan

The sooner we get Kalinic and Debuchy in the better. We also need a striker to play with Ayew. Gestede is absolutely terrible. Nowhere near good enough. Guzan – I don’t know what has happened to him. So much ability but just as he is supposed to be reaching his peak performance years, he has gone backwards at an alarming rate.

Grealish had his first game in a while and was awful. Maybe rustiness but I’ve never rated him anyway. Luxury players are the very opposite of what we need right now.

It’s such a shame that we are so far adrift because Garde is now getting it right. The team looks fit, is working hard and not leaking silly goals left right and centre.

We have a small chance of survival if we can get a striker, Debuchy, Sane and Kalinic this month.

  45. I also forgot to add that we need a left sided central midfielder. Delph would have been ideal but Westwood is currently performing this duty and is doing OK, so it’s not something we are desperate for and the other positions should be a priority.

Inler on loan from Leicester has been strongly linked. He’s 31 and in desperate need of game time with the Euros coming up.

  46. We all know that our ridiculously awful owner has been killing us by his refusal to spend the money needed to properly bolster the team, yet there’s another hole below the waterline of the Aston Villa battleship gouged out by Randy Lerner’s pathetically idiotic ownership reign — and it’s one that I haven’t seen brought up yet (and if it has and I missed it, please forgive me): the fact that by constantly staying away from Villa Park and the Aston Villa back office he has abandoned his role as leader of our forces.

By doing so he has created a leadership vacuum, one that is sucking down manager after manager into a virtually inescapable whirlpool of confusion and despair. Also, by showing himself to be a distant, disinterested, and indecisive owner 3000 miles away, he severely undercuts any authority his gaffers have to exercise the necessary discipline to manage a squad. His players know that because the owner doesn’t care enough to even come and watch their matches much less their practices, they really don’t have to obey the directives of the manager because the owner isn’t around to backup the manager. This in turn creates a situation where certain players can sabotage the managers’ plans and visions simply because they know they can’t be disciplined properly. While I agree that Randy’s manager picks have been abysmal up till now, even a very good manager would have unquestionably been stabbed in the back because of Lerner’s abandonment of him.

Now, in my opinion, this is very likely the cause for the disintegrating quality of Guzan’s play, as well as the ongoing cavalier disinterestedness of both N’Zogbia and Agbonlahor. This appalling acquiescence to a spirit of lazy rebelliousness leads in turn to the stifling of the proper growth of youngsters like Grealish, Gestede, Traore and others. A strong and involved captain along with other team leaders could have helped stem the tide of malaise and defeatism, except that we no longer have any players who can command the necessary respect of their fellow players. In seasons past both “Concrete Ron” Vlaar and Fabian Delph were capable of exhibiting enough leadership skill and gravitas to at least partially fill this terrible leadership vacuum, yet we no longer seem to have anyone in the squad remotely capable of fulfilling that function effectively — sadly, at the very moment when team leadership is the most desperately needed!

  47. Very good points Texas, and Remi has pushed him into a corner, and so now we have Steve Hollis as chairman , with more board members to follow.

Good to see the clear out continues, and then maybe we shall have room and wages for some fresh faces. Looks like Kozak could be back in favour.

Have done the deal and bought my ticket for the City match….who knows we could something crazy and win…!!!

  48. Excellent viewpoint from Texas, i wish he;d make his mind up whether he wants to sell or keep us, either way its a destructive situation.
    PP,
The inclusion of Kozak is more proof that Remi is flexible, if they work hard and do well they’re included.

Some of the bile directed at Grealish is over the top, he’s had less than a full season in what is a dire team, confidence is low and he’s not exactly a multi-purpose player more of a specialist. Played in a balanced and winning team Grealish will fulfill his potential and will then, inevitably, be sold to a top club making AVFC a fortune to be squandered on the usual second/third raters.
Problem with JG is that his mates are deluding him into thinking that he’s a jack the lad who has a menial job and can live his life like a navvy, he’s a very talented athlete who should be professional in the way he treats his career otherwise he’ll end up like the fat parasite.

  49. Texas,

Excellent comment. I’m not sure whether what you describe hasn’t occurred by accident rather than design, as on the face of it it’s occurred because RL has been (he says) trying to sell the club these past few years. If that is true then there’s been a vacuum of leadership for that reason.

But Steamer has been making interesting comments about all that from time to time … like (1) he could have sold before but chose not to (not going to make enough out of it?) and (2) is undecided whether to sell or not.

Steamer, do you have ITK information about all that ? … or is RL’s statement last May that he would sell *or* find another chairman the truth? … What is the truth about all this malarkey?

  50. JL,
Iv’e been given the gift of being able to read the mind of an idiot, plenty of practice with S74 up the road.
Just that other less attractive clubs have been sold and you do hear tales from people in responsible businesses who have contacts.
I think the Bolton game, which Lerner attended, and the atmosphere was toxic and the crowd really gave McKnob some welly totally changed his mindset, i actually think he wants Villa to go bump so that he can sell VP and BH. The jokers who trolled his son last week didn’t help either.
Apparently Lerner changed what he laughingly calls his mind last Summer just as a deal was going through. His Pop was the same.
I really feel its the end for the old claret and blue, he wants us to suffer the death of a thousand cuts and he has all the cards, unless there’s a psycotic jihadi residing on Long Island with a grudge against mad buggers who kill sports clubs.

  51. Didn’t go last night, judging by the dismal attendance seems I wasn’t the only one. Ive been told by ST holders who did, we were shocking.
We all know we are lions led by donkeys, I expect no great pressure or fans revolt at the AVST meeting, although if JD does get in it could certainly get entertaining. So we are no longer up for sale, does that mean Lerner has actually tried to get relegated?? Because he couldn’t have done a worse job of running a football club if he tried, he has taken the Venkys and Cellino hand book, borrowed some ideas from Oysten at Blackpool and set a whole new high of being the worst owner going, what he has done is criminal aided and abetted by fox, Faulkner and a long line of dogshit managers sine MoN saw sense and walked.
Still no action in the transfer window, with only 11 days left,
Last night is a taster of what will be the norm next season, a stadium less than half full, apathy reigning on and off the pitch. Lerner’s actions are speaking louder than words, everyone around us is reinforcing and adding to their squads we aren’t, we are holding on to shite like Guzan, Hutton, Richardson, Westwood etc . The squad needs a total overhaul, but it won’t happen under Lerner.

  52. Mmmmmm … Steamer, B62, Texas etc are not wrong, of course, about the state of the club.

But we’re walking a difficult tithtrope aren’t we? On the one hand we have come to totally disrespect the top brass at t’ Villa, and yet on the other hand we have love for the club, built up over decades.

The question is, by addressing vitriol at the top brass, are we in effect hastening the demise of the club?

You may think this question is absurd, but thoughts create reality and if the toxicity gets to reach the players too much – and the evidence suggests it has – then it can be counter-productive to a successful outcome to the season. “Successful” meaning to avoid relegation.

I am not for one moment supporting the owner – he has revealed an attitude which is twofold – surface (for presentation purposes) and real (which is incompetence), but I’ve come round to thinking that Remi Garde and the players on the pitch deserve every support.

The composition of the present squad is not the fault of the players – it’s construction has all been part of the top brass incompetence – but I’d say in Remi Garde we have a manager for the future. If he stays, of course. And if anyone can get something out of this lot then he can.

So, I say – backing Jenny and others on this one – give the manager and the team plenty of backing. But at the same time keep flying a strong banner that reminds the top brass they’re not respected – without the vitriol: it never works.

Incidentally, the turnout last night was poor, but it was not exactly the kind of game that would attract a big attendance. It was merely a low-key Cup game. And the Cup is not the competition that we should be much concerned about, i.m.o. It merely provided an opportunity to see whether other players that have not been getting games could step up. Well, Grealish definitely didn’t, and if he can’t do it against WW, who can he do it against?

Collymore, Gabby and now Grealish. They’ve all purported to be Villa supporters, but have not measured up to that responsibility. In recent years, I can only think of Ian Taylor who has manned up.

  53. JL
The problem with the top brass, is they are driving fans away in there thousands , we feel no connection with the club we have always loved and shelled out our hard earned following. We are treated with distain by those running the club, fans like Brigada 1874 treated like criminals, for what? Trying to create an atmosphere, the rest of us are seen as cash machines for the thieving scum running the club into the ground.
It’s easy to become disillusioned and disheartened as we see players not putting it in, despite having the Privilege of pulling on our once famous strip, and being a pro footballer, something the rest of us would sell our grannies to be.
Will it be different in the lower leagues??? I doubt it, again we won’t see investment in a poor squad, the gates will be 25k average( our support is pretty shite at home compared to the likes of Newcastle/Sunderland etc )
Staying away won’t get Lerner to sell, no new investor will want a club with no assets that can’t fill its own stadium and bring in revenue.

  54. Vidic. Really. Wtf. Who the hell is running us…….oh yeah

He hasnt plAyed a competitive game since may. Is 34 and will be gone when we go down. Can someone tellme what the jeffin pount is cause it makes no logic to me. All common sense out the window

  55. B62: “It’s easy to become disillusioned and disheartened as we see players not putting it in”

If you’re referring to the WW replay, then the team was changed around to see who could step up. I think Garde knows now who can and who can’t.

But, generally, there has been some improvement in attitude on the pitch these last 2 weeks (WW matches apart). And that’s why I say we should back ’em – to improve the matter not let it get worse by making the players frightened to go on the pitch.

I know, I hear you saying “poor dears”, but it’s the only way I think.

  56. Didn’t realise that Mervyn King , who is about to join the Villa board, is a lifelong Villa fan.

Vidic is being recruited to put some steel into defensive ideas, more than just be a player, I would think, and give our boys some toughening up lessons to match the Robert Huths of this world.

Vidic was a tough cookie at Utd, and we also need to toughen up.

  57. Paul: “Didn’t realise that Mervyn King , who is about to join the Villa board, is a lifelong Villa fan.”

Oh, yes … it’s pretty well known Paul. What, wiv him, David Cameron and Wills all claiming Villa allegiance, we seem to have captured the main members of the Establishment!

Not sure it does the club that much good, though. I’d prefer to see Nigel Kennedy and Ian Taylor on board … they would make ’em think a bit more I suspect.

  58. Talking of thugs, have the FA charged Huth with violent conduct yet ? or the police with assault or equity with impersonating a footballer ? Nah, its only Villa.

  59. JL.
Whats worse our establishment or Lerner and his cronies ? you wouldn’t trust any of them with you dinner money.
All this wealth and influence and we have to put up with Lerner.
We seem to have a lot of Tories as fans, we really are going to the dogs.
Delete Nigel, his hero is the flabmeister.

  60. Quotes from our new muppet =

Steve Hollis says billionaire Lerner is determined instead to turn the Premier League’s rock-bottom side into one of the best run clubs in the country.
    Translation – Were stuffed.

“But actually, I’ve got to say, Randy is pretty passionate about this place.
Translation – He’ll oversee the demolition of VP for KFC.

“The first half of the season was not our finest moment,” he said. “We made mistakes, we had a bit of bad luck but that has happened.
    – Understatement of the decade.

“What we must now do is learn from our mistakes and focus on doing the absolute best we can in the next half.”
Translation – We’ll just carry on being knobs, you don’t matter and we don’t care.

This idiot could be the worst one yet, obviously the truth is a total stranger to him and common sense is an alien concept. The mere fact that he suggests that Lerner is staying in control will ruin season ticket sales, does he think he’s actually doing us a favour.

No doubt he and Tom Fix will receive a standing ovation from the happy clappers tonight, maybe not if JD is attending.

Another crepe kit from the USA, even worse than Nike.

  61. I don’t get it the year the most money coming into football we belly flop in style ,we spend money got in sales plus 7/9 m extra, and when you take losing cleverly that wipes out transfer spend
Why had garde not a number of deals done in late December, Lerner splashed cash for houiller when we weren’t near as bad off,
We needed 30 points at start of january a miracle but at least give it a go, now 10 days to end of window still no players is John Doyle right is garde a puppet for 3 knobs speak out on players no hope getting slag grealish off play guzan Hutton Richardson till injured
I want it to end the sight Lerner makes me sick now see his stupid grin like to shove where sun don’t shine

  62. JG is Garde a puppet? not in a million years, he is the man who will restructure the club forget Hollis. Fox knew what a gem Garde is because Wenger probably told him and I think he’s right.

JL- totally agree mate, as much as the kick up the bum from the fans may have contributed I don’t think it has done half as much as Garde working his team out and players becoming fitter. They played well against west ham with no Richards etc before the booing and abuse started. If anything it may have put off players arriving in the window with the press it attracted.

  63. Evening all .
Thank you v much for that link on Benteki’s Cogi coach Mark . I looked on their web site – they are based in Belgium . If it worked then great – he certainly needs some help at Pool!

  64. I agree John L , particularly on the Grealish front . I hear Ray Wilkins having a not very subtle dig at Remi on Talk Sport this am saying Grealish is world class but isn’t being handled right . Make of that what you will . 🙂
What Tuesday’s game suggests is that Remi has selected the right players for the premier league games .

  65. Thanks v much for the Benteke coach link Matk K – very interesting – I looked on their web site . They are Belgium based . Sorry if this comment appears twice !

  66. Contradictions all round then at the AGM, good signings according to Fix just a lack of confidence, results speak for themselves says Hollis.
Wonder if anyone asked Fix about the long contracts awarded to ‘the legend’, Bacuna, Wastewood and other assorted crepe by our wonderful CEO.
Just heard that JD entered the room with a flying Glasgow kiss on Fix while grasping Hollis around the neck and then throwing them against the bar, finally giving him the full left footed welly to deliver the coup de grace.

  67. Jen- beings Jack wasn’t pulling up trees for Tim after the Leicester game I can’t see how he can say anything, and what about the French lads were they handled right??

Seen bits of the meeting and Fox and Hollis are giving opposite answers to the same questions??
My Nan used to shop at fox hollies 🙂

  68. Armstedt assessing which academy prospects will be most likely to be sold in the near future, ye gods, what next ground sharing with the vermin to save on costs ?
Whats Lerners game ? despite what the idiot Hollis said about him being passionate about Villa it must be more than obvious to everyone that he doesn’t give a monkeys and why should we be so happy that he’s going to stick around even longer, he’s just not welcome.
Its plain that we’re entering a period of decline and its going to be a longer period than ever before.
Even in the unlikely event that we survived this season its obvious that Lerner won’t splash the cash, so next season would be even worse for us,
Herbert really dropped us in the mire when he sold us to this degenerate, never mind your crocodile tears Ellis just give back a few million of the fortune you made out of the club by your scheming.

  69. We are allready scouting for championship players for the summer.

Apparently remi is not happy about tonights meeting and saying he is ok with the squad….wanted sky to ask him if he want s any players and will tell he honest answer!!

From the jist of it bugger all has really been said apart rom what we know. No players want to sign for us now and we wont be spending any money ever again.

Hollis is just here to balance the books and get a buyer.

In limbo until new owners in whichwe have known for years. Only other concern is how much can remi stick cause he wll end up taking the brunt of it all.

  70. Mark k
If remi garde isn’t a puppet for fox he will walk tomorrow, how much more of a laughing stock excuse of a football club we are,Lerner is the biggest arsehole business man ever,we are just outside top twenty clubs in world, but fuck me venky Blackburn ,Cardiff owner even the scum across city are not as badly run,we go down we are stuck with fox s players plus contract extension that he let Lambert get away with next season team
Guzan Hutton Clark baker Bennet bacuna Westwood Gabby gestede that’s frightening they couldn beat a pub team

  71. I quite like the under armour gear, think spurs have them too. Would love to know the figures for it seeing as this is foxs speciality……

Remi keeps 433 but would love to see 4231 bit more attacking too. Not been mentioned much but how about richards in the dm role alongside gana? 2 powerfull enegetic players in there

    4231

    Kalinic
    Debuchi okore vidic cissoko
    Richards. Gana
    Gill. Vertout. Ayew
    Kozac

  72. Very nice when your own chairman says your not good enough. The dummy looks so far out of his depth its unbelievable. Still no footy knowledge on the board after 10 years.
I wouldn’t blame Remi for walking, the clubs loss but it would show the football world what a shower of shite we have in our boardroom as if they didn’t already know.
Who’s next ? Ian Holloway, Phil Brown, got to be another foreigner, one who doesn’t own a TV or read the papers.

  73. Did any point out to Hollis footballs are round and you play 11 aside
Hollis saying we spent 60 m never even in dollars we spent 7/9 m over what we took about 30 m short with a keeper right back midfielder and goalscorer still needed
No word of fox handing out contract extension for Lambert Hutton Gabby Westwood steer baker Clark bacuna
No mention of Lambert’s 50 mspend which left Sherwood crap squad to build round never mind losing your captain and international player for 8 m,cleverly who Lambert said money was there for him for free
Hoping John d was there to get good version of meeting

  74. James

Gestede worth hanging onto, proved he can get goals in cham. Reckon kozac will to. Just have to keep ayew amavi vertout okore gana and build solidly around them with some proper experience and some youth.

I have watched kalinic on you tube. One worry was for 6’7 chap getting down but boy he is agile for a big guy. I will be delighted if we get him and will throw a party knowing no more guzan on team sheet.

  75. Cheers steamer
    Team for championship

    Kalinic
    Rb. Okore cb. Amavi
    Cdm. Gana
    Adama. Vertout. Ayew
    St

Thats 4 players needed some youth and some championship ready players. How about rhodes or that fulham chap mcultic or summin

  76. Ah yeah, suppose wont be just he shirt deal that loses money when we drop, will be scary seeing the figures in a year or 2 time.

Wouldnt bother listening to what those clowns say. We know whats what. There going to run a tight ship until new buyer found. Zero ambition until then praying remi can work some magic with what he has or what we can atteact and afford in summer.

  77. Have watched AVTV interview now, which is just the usual PR job with nothing really exciting to talk about, except that Steve Hollis will now be on a big learning curve about the workings of Premier league football.

Quit understood his comments about transfers, as we have not done brilliantly there, but that there needs to be a sensible justification for spending money at the right time, and on the right players.

It is probably now too late for us to do any real business in this window, and it will be a matter of building in the summer, when we are sure of what level we are competing in.

Until then it is about getting the best out of what we have.

  78. Customers our new all knowing chairman has called us lol , you can see why Randy & Fox like him already.

    https://twitter.com/sir_scatman/status/690387264053104642

No players , no belief in trying to stay up , no longterm vision for the biggest club in a city with a population of 1.1 million.

It is dire straits I truly believe if we individually love the club we must bycott this regime. Starve them of the only thing they’ve any interest in…MONEY !!!

They speak about the summer transfer spend like we were lavished with gifts. The money was all from selling our best players for crying out loud no investment in players whatsoever.

  79. “Aston Villa are in their worst position for a very long time”

Another pearl from our esteemed Chairman I just wonder exactly how much he is being paid to come up with this first class analysis.
    We are truly fooked.

    GSAVFC

  80. Well i that was supposed to give the customers a lift then it failed dismally, just another plank on the payroll. Hope everyone who intends to patronise Villa Park next season realises they are aiding and abetting the destruction of the club, never mind the BS about ‘supporting’ the only thing your supporting is Lerners family and the careers of the knobs who are laughing at you.
I missed less than 20 games h&a in 13 years before the slimeball infested VP again in 1982, never went again until he left, murder at first but you soon get used to it after all why pay good money to be taken for a mug by someone you detest ?

  81. Steamer,

Never been called a customer before how strange, well looks like the AGM went without any drama I wonder how our customers felt listening to all that management babble, product etc moving forward blah cost down blah upwardly mobile process blah finance integration blah blah, I bet JD was in a bit of a spin not knowing what the feck Hollis and Fox were talking about.

Although I have been a loyal customer for the best part of fifty years I am so glad I don”t visit VP anymore and I have to witness the death of our club, I feel extremely lucky to have been through some great times and some not so great but nothing compared to what Lerner and his henchmen are doing to our once great club, they are parasites and we cannot do a thing about it.

We are doomed for the championship but to be fair it is exactly what we deserve, there is not one single club who have shown less ambition than AVFC over the last six years, we have repeatedly sold our best players and replaced them with ones who are no where near good enough for this grade of football.

So a message to Lerner,Hollis,Fox,Reilly,Hamstadt and whoever else is bleeding our club dry so they can all earn a quick buck, get out of our club and let someone else try and clear up your mess and perhaps put AVFC back in its rightful place, leave now while there is still something left to build upon, and don”t forget that old adage ” the customer is always right”.

    GSAVFC

  82. I have to agree about all the babble and the failure to really grasp the present situation, and worse still, if Remi fails to get what he wants and walks, then Villa are truly finished, as no-one else will touch the club with a barge pole.

I for one have renewed my season ticket for the last time if we fail to survive this season. I will spend the money on leisurely weekend breaks and enjoy them…..!!!

Will also save a fortune subscribing to Sky, as football will no longer be the same for me.

  83. Yes SWV, who’d have thought all those years ago, before we became customers, we’d be watching the death throes of AVFC ?
Not only have we not had a ‘football man’ on the board in 10 years but now the clowns admit that we haven’t had a ‘finance man’ either. Randy Lerner is without doubt the most stupid person on the planet.
JD reckons the happy clappers were applauding every lie last night.
My interest in Villa is fading by the day as with hordes of other Villans, what worries me is the local kids who will grow up supporting other clubs, there is no future for our club, let it die.

  84. Supposed to be bidding 5m for Celtics Stefan Johansen, go to the SDR site and its full of jocks saying how crepe he is and to get rid because they have so many better players on the books. Riley and Almstedt strike again.

  85. Steamer: “Randy Lerner is without doubt the most stupid person on the planet.”

    Sadly, yes he is.

Decimating two of the most historic, successful, and well-supported teams in the two main English-speaking countries — Aston Villa and the Cleveland Browns.

It takes a truly epic level of idiocy to accomplish that …

  86. Texas
Blimey and one bloke reckons they’ve got SEVEN better MF players, Celtic must have a hell of a good team then this year, or maybe jocks don’t know anything ( Lamebert & Ginger ).

  87. My two cents on the AGM

Looks like a missed opportunity to hammer these two planks. Absolutely understand the need to question Villa’s current predicament, but mentioning things like ticketing, It won’t be a problem getting tickets to VP anymore.

The question i would have asked is given recent statements by Fox, Hollis and Lerner, at what point in the last 5 years did someone think it was appropriate to work to remove Lerner from the club.

I’d ask Fox given everyone loves a good promotion on more money, at any stage did you admit to yourself that you’ve been incapable of carrying out the role and have solely focussed on kit deals and sponsorship and the only times you’ve acted in a football nature is giving contract extensions to Lambert for his 6 game great start and hiring and sacking Sherwood.

While one of the focus has been us fans being called customers, look who is running the club, look at the treatment of the Lions clubs, we’ve only ever been customers and Hollis just let it slip out.

Did nobody challenge Hollis on net spend or the instruction to each manager after MON to reduce the wage bill thereby operating on a shoestring year on year by replacing big wages with smaller ones and less quality. Quality players and for us mean mid-table level command a certain wage if we couldn’t or didn’t want to compete then we have to suffer the consequences.

Just wondering do open letters to Fox and Hollis work, i don’t have access to any media but would love to put one together and absolutely challenge the financial side of AVFC as much as the football side.

    FOLAFAH

    VTID

  88. The Toons now after Sinclair as well as Swansea…..Surely we should be keeping him a little longer if we are not replacing him???

Still bubbling on about Debuchy and Vidic, and maybe a goalie…..need to move soon, or will it all be done on a last minute deal on deadline day if we manage to beat the Baggies….Perhaps a lot more hangs on that result than we realise…

and whether there is still a slim chance that we can stay up….

  89. I keep thinking sinclair can do something, especially in the champ. But reality is he is just not motivated anymore.
Prefer to see sellars play tbh.

Anyhow baggies tomoz…..they are going to give us dogs abuse. Will be lovin it.

    Got to win

  90. Tom Fix “One of the things we did in the summer was writing reductions into player’s contracts so we are able to keep the squad together.”
Why would we want to keep this squad together ?

Can’t believe no-one asked him about the fat parasites contract, or was it not allowed ?

  91. Come on Steamer you know better than that, . ask unsolicited questions?? the audience were hand picked , l bet JD went dressed as a seal !! to get in . if you read some of the comments on the other blogs you’ll see they clapped every word these arseholes came out with , Jeezz !!
fuck me even tom dross censored his questions , remember when the arse DD went on air and Tom said “no questions on incoming players and money ” you could only ring up up to pat him on his back , now if that was a outside broadcast l would have patted him with a shovel ,
    ring you later mate

  92. Steve Hollis
    What a plank
Lerner put his hand in his pocket more than all but a few chairman
Well under Lerner’s 10 years in charge villa spend 104 m just over 10 m a year, but in that time Delaney bouma laursen and petrov retired injured or sick as petrov ,do the club not have them insured v that at least 15 m there, plus deadly said he paid for petrov
I wouldn’t mind having Lerner’s accountant doing my books he could magic anything you want,

  93. Check out this article, a very articulate and intelligent account of the proceedings with Fox and Hollis.

    http://vilr.tumblr.com/post/137812087292/meeting-tom-fox-steve-hollis-villa-trust

This club is in utter crisis and the new Chairman has admitted this.

I am so utterly despondent about the state of affairs at our great football club. It is shambolic, a travesty a tragic consequence of mismanagement.

The fans should protest against Fox – this guy is clearly incompetent and is completely out of his depth. Hollis is a comedian, a fool, the new fool guy, Peter Fucking Griffin.

We should all support Remy Garde, I think he has a touch of class about him. I do wish he would stop picking on Grealish. Learn from Wenger, Remy, this is a team game, no point in singling out individuals.

I do hope that we smash this Baggies – black country, jam eating, yam yams.

  95. Fans are customers?

Surprise, surprise, I found myself writing that would be the board’s attitude on AVL on January 10, 2016 at 2:12 pm – “The ownership thinks of the real supporters as customers not supporters, don’t forget.”

It looks to me that the AVST meeting yesterday was all what we thought it would be. Put a business in the hands of accountants and what do you get? Figures – and usually mis-represented ones at that.

Now let me see, didn’t Aston Villa start out as a football club some 140+ years ago? We seem to have changed emphasis a bit since then.

  96. Richard S
could’nt agree more about Garde and how he keeps bringing up the Grealish Episode , we know what he’s done , slap his wrist and move on and if you have anything to say to him , do it too his face not through the fucking media who we all know ,love this stuff and blow it up , funny how Frank Worthington can tell a tale of the world cup team sneaking out to a night club for a few till 2am and we think Good on ya lads , also cloughie taking his European cup winners team out for a pint before the final . to be honest lm bored stiff hearing about JG, what l’d like to know is what the rest of the team are fucking drinking to come out with the shit they produce on the pitch ,

  97. There’s a element of crap journalism here with Grealish, let’s sell a few papers by asking Remi one more time about Grealish. Remi just needs to say the matter is closed and Grealish is getting on with training with the first team squad instead of taking the bait.

But anyway, let’s all move on to smashing the baggies and giving the glass half full guys like myself one more reason to keep hope alive.

  98. RichardS,
Good post, i’d never heard of Villa Underground before.
Last night was just a farce embellished by lies, half truths and BS, i don’t think the club has a scooby about how the customers feel. Only a boycott will make Lerner sell.
I said when he arrived that Fix was a smarmy twat but i thought he may have an iota of competence, he hasn’t and he’s not going to do the honourable thing and resign despite his policies relegating the club.
Hope the customers start to show more backbone than they have done over the last six seasons.

  99. Well seems the AGM brought up no surprises, Fox and Hollis spouting absolute bollix , at least they admitted we are a club in crisis, however they stopped short of accepting blame or pointing the finger at that absolute Thundercunt Randy Lerner, I pray he sells or tops himself soon.
We are over as a football club, we are the new Leeds, Wolves, Blues, Forest etc etc. I fully expect the club to drop further down the football league and perhaps go under, with these massive bell ends running the show.
We have known we are are down for months, but now it seems we are already planning to survive next season rather than planning a promotion push. Words cannot describe the hate I have for Lerner and his cronies, it’s the sort of disgust I have for paedophiles, terrorists and politicians, We have no recourse, soon the only course of action left will be violence.

  100. Hollis
    For we not fear relegation
Has he seen our squad Tuesday match v Wycombe brutal, first match worse there is no fire in the bellies of our players all they want to do is pick up wages zog Gabby
Fox blaming Lambert for signing 27 players ,well he gave fox new contracts to Lambert Hutton Gabby
The board running villa remind me of our government Ireland clueless stupid but all still picking up there wages

  101. these are what i posted last night on vb
good night lads I am still in shock at what i have heard tonight and cannot believe that so many who were there just swallowed it all one thing i remember is fox said to my son when he told him that we had sent our season tickets back to him personally he said that he had no knowledge of it but said if we phoned the club and made an appointment with his PA whoever the fu ck that is he would make sure they were returned to us as he understands we were feeling upset with Sherwood at the time as he was himself and he truly belives this this alone tells you they think everything is great they are not worried about going down i don’t like garde but i would not blame him for walking away tomorrow as the club is run like fantasy island but the trouble is every word is true .
i always mocked fox and co calling him poxy fox for the last 12 months or more but i never really deep down thought he was as stupid as he shows himself to be in that he truly believes he is doing a great job and this new guy captain manaring thinks so to i say again everything must be done to remove these lot from office as they truly believe they are doing a great job and that i am afraid to say is the truth

  102. well that wa\s a right load of old cobblers i spoke to fox ans he is a complete wank er i asked him why he did not resign as he was not fit for purpose and you will not believe this captain Mannering the new chairman said he had done a great job and the club was financially on the best footing it had ever been .
i simply could not believe the complete bull shi t that was talked and you lot on here think i talk boll ox
we ard going down to div 3 again of that i am certian they will spend money they say if the transfer committee can find the right players and the right wages it is laughful they said that all members have to agree to sign a player so garde has been hung out to dry the same as the rest i could have knocked fox out but what was the point he is a fuc king lunatic and belives he is doing a great job as is says are herr flick and rat face .
i asked him what reily had done to warrant his job he said he was the cheif scout at Liverpool i asked him who he had spotted he said saurez i said ****** and fell off my chair laughing
in conclusion all joking apart we are finished i have heard tonight with my own ears the biggest load of rubbish ever in my life time iknow i go on but believe me when i tell you this football club is finished if you care about the club these idiots have to be removed as they think they are doing a great job all fans must stay away even i could not knock fox out as you can not hit a lunatic he needs a stright jacket put on him

  103. Same thing happened a few years ago when Venglos wanted a Red Star Belgrade full back, Marovic, his last game was when RS beat Marseille in the European Cup Final, but the powers that be deemed him not good enough for Villa, now if it was Untied …..

  104. Yes JD they are are bunch of total wankers that’s for sure.

I watched Gardes presser and the bloke just wants to get on with his football, the press are all over him about who’s leaving? and is he getting any money? he basically told them it doesn’t bother him and he is just thinking about the next few games but the twonks won’t let it lie. money or not he will do his best and I think that will be a whole lot better than the Last 4 managers attempts. between our owners and the press they are killing our chances of bringing players in, sometimes its best to keep quiet than speak out and tell the whole world your an idiot

  105. Deals for sane and debuchy off.

Good about debuchy and dont really care about sane on loan.

Apparently the focus is gk and st. Makes perfect sense, two most important positionse but can we actually do the deals.

Remi needs to find goals from somewhere for next season. Gutted kevlic deal is dead.

  106. Beyond pityful, absolute laughing stock. Fox and Hollis must have known abou5 this when they were at the agm and kept it to themselves. Owned and run by scum and dro2ning in a sea of shite.

  107. Id really like remi to tweak formation. Might help us to score more than 1 goal and the baggies are always dfnsive. Plus draws are no good to us, its 3 points or bust.

    Bunn
    Bacuna okore lescott cissokho
    Richards.
    Vertout. Gana
    Ayew
    Kozac. Gestede

  108. Villa wont pay the 1 mill loan fee for debuchy. Now i dont see the point of getting him but now thinking we should get it done just for remi. He must be pissed off. And 1 mill will surly not break the bank. What will are current rb and gk think about all this. Not good for morale

  109. I don’t believe for one second all this crepe about visas, all the club had to do was to get either King or Hollis to phone Camoron and it would have been sorted, after all he got WHU a new stadium for FA. Its pretty obvious we’re not signing anyone even on a free, although Dawkins has left Derby.

General BS was talking about the marines the other day yet his mate is hiding in a cupboard in Long Island and won’t visit Birmingham to help repair the club he’s destroying, gutless wimp.

Think Olbyon will smash us today Berainho with 3 and Rondon with 2.

Can’t see Remi being here next season, he didn’t sign up for this shite and to be honest he looks ten years older. I actually think the only reason he hasn’t resigned is out of decency.

  110. When you think of the millions of the CLUBS money that the idiot has wasted paying compo for his crepe managers and their staff and now can’t even afford 1m dear oh dear.
Also these five year contracts that Fox has handed out to crepe players who can’t even get a game, oh, and the one who keeps getting fake injuries rather than do his job, get fit and help the club that pays for his KFC and McDonalds.

  111. Really does look like the end, with all the papers saying the board have accepted relegation, and will not sanction money, even for Debuchy’s loan fee.

Unless there is a dramatic change in fortunes, Villa Park will become a vast empty space next season.

Feel so for Remi, who will do his best, but will struggle, with his hands tied behind his back.

LVG saying wont spend money, and they are a rich club. Is the time coming now, perhaps where the money men are going to dictate in football.

  112. The biggest cock up in all this in which Hollis fox haven’t admitted is the lost generations of villa fans lost ,Lerner’s cock up one after another, buying bent then selling supply line like one of us buying a sports car and can’t afford the petrol
But this last two weeks have become hell and if fans hadnot turned on players after cup match highlight the plight of villa fans wouldn’t become sports news world wide laughing stock villa, laughing stock Lerner and all his muppets
Even agm with fans keeps getting worse publicity

  113. The worst run professional club on the planet and where’s the yellow bastard owner, hiding in a fucking cupboard the bottleless wanker. Worthless twat.

  114. Now we now know we are only customers…..Does that not mean that, “The customer is always right”.

Goods and services must be fit for purpose, and if not do we have the right to complain to trading standards, and ask for our money back??????

We should be entitled to full ninety minutes of entertainment provide by a team of professionals….should they now require equity cards, in the same way as wrestlers in the WWF did???

  115. Debuchy on £3.65 mil so 1m is about right. The keeper not being allowed in when we open our boarders to all and sundry? this man would be earning a massive wage and not require subsidy and housing who are they protecting? they would earn a massive wedge of tax off of him too, there’s the real lunacy.

  116. Today is massive and a sad indictment of how low we have fallen under Lerner, today is the last time we go to the Hawthorns for a league game for a good few years, previously it’s because Sandwell a Town have yo-yo’do out of the top flight or have just been lower league shite for years and years, but now the shoe is on the other foot, we have capitulated as a club and are dying a long slow death in front of our very eyes. This is a death we won’t come back from, nor do I belive this is the end of the demise or relegation spiral.
The six fingered Sandwell inbreds with their winy accents, horses tied up in their lounges , chickens running amok are loving this demise and can’t wait to take the piss today, I hope we smash the fuck out of them on and off the pitch, they will soon realise next season , without us they won’t have a reason to exist or any cup finals to play in.
Unfortunately I fear another defeat in this dismal and utterly depressing season.
I honestly believe the club accepted relegation after 8/10 games, they certainly haven’t backed Garde and it doesn’t look like they will in the future. The club are an embarrassment to football, look at what’s happened to Bolton and Blackburn since they dropped, that is our future, we will be no different to the vermin up the road at the sty, a nothing team playing in front of embarrassingly low crowds, devoid of ambition and seen nationally as a footballing wasteland .

  117. PP- its obvious as JL said we are seen as cash cows and not part of the club, If Hollis does not recognise this he is useless to the club and just another waist of money by the kings of wasting money.

B-62 having seen some of the WBA win in the week I don’t think its clear cut at all, I think if nothing else these players will bust a gut to save their wages, it must be apparent to them by now the laughing is over.

  118. Mark
They aren’t gonna save their wages unless they leave, they will have all spoken with their agents looking for escape routes, who wants to stay at a joke club like Villa, absolutely zero ambition. The manager and players now know it’s pretty much a lost cause, this week the club have confirmed it by saying no money will be spent, everything is about cost cutting for the subsequent relegations

  119. Crepe as most of them are at least you can see they’re not dead parrots yet, they actually move about a bit for their 40,000 per week, with the one exception who should be setting an example.
The gobshites i object to are the professional admin who get by with a language known as waffle, an example was heard at the AGM, talk jibberish for an hour, sod off and pick up 1.5m per year while buggering up any chance of your policies bearing fruition, who cares ? they won’t be here to face the consequences, the fans/customers do that, the ones who care not the ones who spout how passionate they are about AVFC while robbing a living out of the club. I thought i fucking hated Ellis but these rissoles are pure vermin too and i can see someone doing one in, hopefully.

  120. B62
the clubs dead mate , looks like no -one is coming in and as lv said before l like Garde but just thought he wasnt for us yet or should have come in after the FA cup final . if he lets the club get away with this then he loses my sympathy , as l cant believe he signed up for any of this , he should walk and let those bastards squirm in their own Bullshit, l will be interested to see how the fans react to this news now , Happy Clappers Eh!!
last friday l was talking to mate and one of these HCs came over and joined in the conversation . and he said he hopes the noses go up if we go down ! as he doesnt want to be playing them twice next year . l told him to have a think about the state were in and if they come up they get the 100+million , can you imagine them with that money , we will be right in it and it wont be worth going into work and listening to them gloating , just like the 6 fingered lot we got today , those fucking Yanks have truely fucked the club over , , Steamer Marines ? really . tell me what war havent they fucked up , and what a good excuse “Friendly Fire ” . yanks came in and closed a massive company l once worked for , its nowhere to be seen now , and Rover ? . and my wife was a Director of an American company and my god did they know how to waste money and bollocked it up , they asked 5 of the directors to go over to Boston for a important meeting , only to be told they would like all their accountants to be up to FACCA standard and that they had paid for the courses for them to go on , my wife told them to look at her CV again as she was already upto that standard , thats when she knew it was time to walk , just like l think Remi should do the same to save his sanity , we can make a choice of not going again as well till these twats have gone . and she knows about Hollis , and as a Norwich fan she is so happy !! ,
    Have a good weekend all

Jenny hope your feeling better xxxxxx

  121. Watching garde’s presser makes me wonder what he signed up for or agreed? he says he’s looking for players to buy into a long term plan where the rewards come in 18 months time? he said its not his position to question the money side of things. Makes me think they will rebuild in the summer and thats that wherever we find ourselves. Seems fucking ridiculous to me when some players would give us a slim chance.

Looks like Remi will have to get a tune out of the rabble we have, maybe gabby isn’t injured and has been sent to France for liposuction, the job has took longer than thought and he is now 5 stone.

  122. Norwich come back to 2-1 feck me whats wrong with these top clubs??? watching the prem this season there’s no reason other than we are shite that we can’t win 16 on the trot, its nuts. Chelsea on second manager and still 4 off bottom 3?? liverpool second highly rated manager and getting worse.

  123. Mark
if he’s not allowed to ask about the money side of things , how can he look at players without knowing how much he has to spend ?
thats like me going to Richer sounds for a new turntable and being asked ” and how much would sir like to spend ? ” Me . ” l dont know the wife hasnt told me ” so l walk out with nothing !

    JG
a mate of mine is selling the Amazon Box fully loaded , 3pm football , films , TV shows , Adult , ect ect , lm going to have a look and will let you know mate ,

  124. just watched the Hollis interview on AVTV and sadly I could not disagree with what he has said. We either stay up or go down but we need to rebuild this club, whether he recognises we need to rebuild relations with the fans is another thing, if he doesn’t he soon will because is will not be possible otherwise.

thank god liverpool have woke up 3-3 at the moment 70 mins

  125. ST75- I agree mate I think he has £10m, he has gone mainly for loans bar the keeper and mainly from abroad as we are allowed more from Europe than the 2 prem ones

  126. Norwich are a crap, but we still won’t finial above them

Right line up. Micah had to come in at right back to add height. Veretout is crap so he’s benched

We have to win 3 in a row. Let’s see

  127. has he gone with richards as DM?? or three at the back??

    Aston Villa
    31 Bunn
    07 Bacuna
    05 Okore
    16 Lescott
    04 Richards
    43 Cissokho
    25 Gil
    15 Westwood
    08 Gueye
    19 J Ayew
    27 Kozák
    Substitutes
    01 Guzan
    06 Clark
    09 Sinclair
    17 Veretout
    38 Lyden
    39 Gestede
    40 Grealish

  128. Looks like a solid line-up with a very dour struggle ahead, with the chance of changing it later on , if he needs to, and all the recent scorers are on the pitch….Gil, Richards, Lescott and Gana..

  129. Did anyone see the vid of the Chelsea steward calling Fabregas a snake ? the look on CF’s dial was hilarious, cost the poor sod his job, ten years in nick for what that bloke at WW shouted.

  130. PP shame we have to keep using 2 DM but its understandable, after watching Norwich lose 4-5 neither of those teams were much good we have as good a chance as any. fancy Kosak to score today or for him to have his head knocked clean off in a friendly tussle.

  131. Is Remy Garde the new tinker man? More changes today.

Kosak starts his third game in a row.

The Baggies have three forwards on the bench. We don’t have one (of note)

  132. Listening in the radio it doesn’t sound like a classic, Le Tissier on Sky Sports has just called it a very poor game of football, that is looking like a 0-0, Albion playing 4 centre halves at the back, I’d be disappointed if I was an Albion fan, a golden chance to really stick the knife into a local rival, this is one poor Villa side and the baggies think they are playing Barca, have they not seen how shit we are , especially away!!
    Robbed of a stonewall penalty!!!!!!!!

  133. I think we should go 2 up front in the second half.

I thought we were the better team in the first half – however we are lacking quality in the final third

  134. Jen because we have 1 midfielder Gil who goes forward all the others are defensive minded or have played there like bacuna has for years. That’s why we need vertout on. Shame grealish is pants at the moment he would be ideal.

  135. Simply have to win games like this, but the thing we have that gets you relegated is we can’t score enough goals. Nixon on Twitter who works for a paper says tomoz will have good new for villa, what we need and what we want

  136. We haven’t put one decent ball in for Kosak 2 men up top not to supply? For me bacuna Richards not working so get Richards off vertout on switch Gil to right

  137. Does remi not know one point at a time is no good use the subs
Richards\ Westwood off vertout either grealish Sinclair on we need a goal if klopp can put Faulkner up front try Clark up there

  138. Mark k
    What box
Great cross by gil no one in there
Sorry looking at this remi garde is not the answer either
All these drawn matches never once thrown kitchen sink at it

  139. Bacuna Westwood ninety mins today both crap at deadballs both crap footballers that effort from bacuna a disgrace sorry remi not near good enough from you today again

  140. James,
Thats my only nark with Remi, just a little cautious although he could be pleased that we’re now hard to beat and organised.
If Hollis has sold us he’d be a hero. Probably Just Fox got an order for a dozen more shirts.

  141. Remy Garde has made us hard to beat. I congratulate him for that. We need to concentrate on turning our possession into goals. I thought we looked solid today. Gil was good. I am not sure why he dropped Veretout.

Our full backs offered nothing going forward. We had no width and our delivery into the box was poor.

However, the board need to sign us two new forwards this transfer window. Kosak looks rusty.
Rudy will be out for 2-6 weeks with a hamstring. We desperately need some more firepower up front.

  142. If we’d had our recent form from the start of the season we’d be looking reasonably secure in mid table.
In most recent games we’ve dominated possession, shots and shots on target, but we’re lacking a clinical finisher. . . can’t blame Garde for that.
Today we had 3x as many shots as wba with 4 on target to their none.
    one other

  143. One other thing we’re short of is decent referees.
Two games running we’ve been robbed of penalties. Those extra 4 points would have taken us off the bottom and left us just 5 points off safety.

  144. robbo – agreed. It just demonstrates the lack of quality in the Premier League – despite all of the money spent. Leicester were not great, We beat Crystal Palace and WBA were shocking.

If this cretinous board has invested in a decent centre-forward to replace Benteke we would be fine.

  145. I accepted that we were down a few weeks ago and decided to try and enjoy our remaining 20 games in the premiership.
In those games I was hoping to see Remi rebuild confidence and create a squad that can compete in the Championship. He seems to be creating a team that can actually compete in the ‘premiership’ but he was brought in to replace Sherwood just a bit too late.

  146. Westwood had two on target no better than backpasses one was going wide keeper made a save so it counted
No shots that were goal stopping saves
Pullis was happy with point way he plays
No way you could be happy bacuna Westwood played 90 mins, gil was dead on his feet, kozak got one lovely flick first half no player within 10 yards, only put on vertout after kozak went off what is remi doing in training corners freekicks are a joke

  147. Another point, but another dour uninspiring match. We have needed wins for far too long, draws aren’t gonna cut it. Albion were a disgrace set up not to lose and never tried to win, we however didn’t test the keeper so can hardly take the moral high ground. This season is proving to be a never ending nightmare.
Charlie Austin scores at OT on his debut costing £4m, why did we not try harder for him???? Even at £8/10m. We paid nearly £7m for a statue called Rudi, Koasak at a similar price again hasn’t set the world alight despite being more mobile.

  148. B62- I’m not having a go but haven’t you noticed nobody wants to come to us? Austin lives in Berkshire and wanted to stay there, if Southampton hadn’t bid I suspect he’d still be at QPR .

JG- yep no decent efforts on target but thats been our main problem, ayew poor today or tired. Ref even poorer. luck is supposed to even out when is that then?

  149. B62. You’re right that Pulis just doesn’t give a damn about his fans or trying to win a game.
It’s hard to create an exciting game on your own!
You contrast that with the game against Leicester which was so exciting I lost my voice.
The common themes between the games were that we dominated possession, and shots and shots on target. . . . . and the referee was shit.

  150. Mark k
Why has it taken remi till now to get our best defence out,bar sissko they where there, but he keeps playing Westwood and bacuna, why does he not go for it try Richards\ Clark centre forward for last few mins Bruce Terry have all done it

  151. JG I understand your frustration mate but when you are putting 0 crosses in you could put a giraffe up there we still wouldn’t find him, Richards and gestede both had good chances to score we just lack quality. And a ref

  152. JG. Maybe he has tried them out up front in training and they’ve proven to be better suited as centre backs!
If he brought them on as centre forwards you can guarantee that he would be ridiculed by the press and the vast majority of Villa Fans.
I don’t personally think that either of them have what it takes to lead the line for us. What we need (but will struggle to find) is a proven centre forward/ goal scorer.
Until then we need to make ourselves hard to beat and create as many opportunities as possible in order to tip the odds in our favour of one of them resulting in a goal.

  153. MK
I’m not just on about this window, I fully accept that no player will come to us, given that we are effectively a championship side and signing for us would effectively put their career on hold for 18months.
I go back to the summer and beyond, the recruitment was a joke, everything is rotten at Villa, we have no chance u dear this regime they have set us back at least a decade. When we leave the premier league it won’t be for a brief sojourn to the championship, it will be 5-10 years minimum unless we are sold to owner who has some ambition and some finances to match.

  154. Apparently Fox decides who leaves so GG goes to Florist, different planet to Wastewood and Bacuna but what Fox says, goes. If he’s going to contaminate VP much longer then the Chairman has to relieve him of any football related duties, although he thinks he knows all about footy, the evidence suggests otherwise, he’s done enough damage.

  155. B62- Lerner and co wanted players with potential return Tim wanted prem experienced one hit no money back punts. Now our record with either one isn’t great is it? put the 2 approaches together you get a shambles. If Tim wasn’t trusted should this have not been apparent by asking him what his targets might be before we employed him or at least when we were safe? again lack of football knowledge lands one to the nuts.

  156. Robbi
Could he not try them upfront Richards Clark lescott have more goals since start October bar ayew
Remi doesn’t have plan b Sherwood got panned for that under remi we have been disgraceful v Everton Norwich arsenal Sunderland first half v Newcastle Leicester never mind the cup matches v Wycombe
If remi is not a puppet for poxy fox show walk away show the world Lerner’s is the most clueless bufoon business man ever losing over 100 m in next 6 months

  157. Apparently he news is just a reshuffle on the management team.

We need adama back another forward number 10 type and striker. Im glad remi seems to know guzan, hutton and richards cb is no good. Now he needs to realise westy and bacuna gestede are pub standard.

What a waste to make up ground today. Like remi but needs to be more adventureous now and if he brings guzan hutton back im not sure ill forgive him.

  158. Fox and Lerner are thicker than a Ghurkas foreskin, neither should be anywhere near the football decision making, what experience do they have, what qualifies them to make decisions on the football side of things??
I remember a lot of us laughing at West Ham when the dildo brothers bought them, look at them now, a very decent team ( top 6 all season), play nice football, good manager with passion for the club and moving into a new 55-60k stadium ( paid for by the taxpayer), with a proper traditional crest, kit and colours.

  159. Mark,
Can’t believe your advocating a recall for the overweight, non trying, non scoring joker who’s taking a fortune out of AVFC for doing a fat NOTHING. He’s a mediocrity who may have had one decent game in the last five years and is barely Conference standard now. When you lose your pace that’s it, gone, it isn’t coming back and that’s all he had. He’s actually at the right club, the worst pro in the country at the worst run club in the country, can’t believe it.

  160. Stuart Pearce is a bit old to get a starting berth at LB, although I would prefer him over Richardson 😉
On a serious note WTF is that all about, he has been abysmal as a manager, what’s his role going to be? defensive coach? Smacks of another PR stunt to disguise just how shite we are and how we lack ambition.
We are the nations laughing stock, it’s embarassing being a villa fan .

  161. Eric black to be the new assistant according to the papers, also Max Lerner 18yrs old is to be given executive role on the Villa board, will use Randys private jet to travel to and from New York.
FFS you can’t make it up, I fucking hate being a Villa fan , even the blues aren’t this much of a joke.

  162. I,d read that about Lerner’s son s couple of weeks ago and dismissed it as too ludicrous even for villa, probably be in the team in a few weeks. So now were Lerner’s nippers new toy, surely he can’t be as dumb as his dad.

  163. What was that TV program 100 ways to kill your mammy
Lerner should make one how to kill 2 sports teams
Media just love Lerner fill news sheet
Fuck deadly I hope he lives to see what’s coming the fall of the great club villa European cup winners without him relegation within 5 with him, sells us to biggest fraudster arsehole knob ever
    Thanks deadly

  164. Not exactly inspiring about black but spink and a few journos rate him. French connection going on as he was in france for 5 years. Plus he is remis man so cant be anyworse than currntly doing!

If we dont get any players in then remi has to work out a formation and maybe some youngsters to try and find goals. His set up is ok if we was tickng over mid table but we need wins. A draw or defeat is equal in our situation.

  165. Hats off to Remi!
He has stopped the rot. He has 5 points from the last three. Not fantastic, but if he maintains it, we should manage 38 points which could just save us, but if not it will still be a great effort. Any more than that is a bonus after the disastrous start we have had.

I still have the same feelings towards Lerner and huis failings, but that is not Remi’s fault.

Who knows what Remi may achieve with our full support. WE need him and he needs us. He could become another Wenger with us..!! Let him know that he saved us from the humiliation of losing to the Tesco bags…

  166. Steamer- I would give fatty arbuckle a run if it got three points.Gabby has his uses as jl used to point out and we lack pace up top. If a striker doesn’t come in would rather see Hepburn Murphy given a try but needs must and all that.

Black was a striker and as Andrew said had 5 years with Metz , might just be what grealish needs a Brit to guide him as it doesn’t appear he responds to remi?

  167. It would be bloody marvellous if just one villa manager could be a complete 10 for once i mean is it really all that hard???

Gesture for Kozak was a no brainer unless rudi was feeling his hamstring before the match hence the late, short cameo.

Veretout for bacuna again how hard it is to make that choice knowing that the latter can’t cross nor shoot.

I just don’t understand what the managers since oneil are thinking with their starting X11???

    Utv

  168. Our board have finally got something right with the appointment of Remi Garde. It took a while for him to get enough of our assortment of players to understand what he was after, but we have now picked up more points in our last three games than the media favourite Sherwood managed in 10 games.
Now for goodness sake Villa Board don’t blow it!
Suggestions in the media (I know. . . . take them with a pinch if salt) are that Remi Garde is becoming frustrated by the lack of support he’s receiving to bring players in. The latest is that they won’t sanction the £1.25m required to bring in Debuchy.
Now whatever you may think of Debuchy, remi garde wants him.
For goodness sake Villa Board, support the man!
    Fox . . . . . you’ve got something right . . . . now embrace it!!

  169. I tell you what worries me about bringing in Hollis.
I have zero doubt of the man’s intellect or his understanding of balance sheets. I don’t know enough of his background to know if he has successfully run his own businesses or, if so, the type of businesses they are. I have seen that he has been very senior in KPMG. Believe me. . . . that does not equip you to run a successful business, let alone a football club.
As I say, I don’t have the information to damn the man, but a senior position in KPMG does not fill me with confidence.
I just hope that he has the self awareness and is sufficiently worldly wise to appreciate that a forensic knowledge of a company’s balance sheet and p&l does not equip you to create a successful business.
It seems that in Remi Garde we have a manager who ‘does’ understand how to create a successful football team. If Hollis is a half decent executive he will understand that he needs to put trust in this manager. If he doesn’t, we are guaranteed to fail
Accountants will never create a successful football club on their own.
The most successful businesses have a very clear vision of which of their core activities delivers success. In the case of a football club it is the manager and players. . . . . the rest are the supporting cast.
Hollis needs to recognise that without success on the pitch we are nothing and have no value to him or Lerner, and he will be seen to have failed.

  170. Ronnie Biggs. Bacuna’s crossing and shooting yesterday were abysmal. That is not the same as saying he ‘can’t shoot’ though.
He’s demonstrated before that he absolutely can shoot and that is why we used to lean forward in anticipation when he took free kicks from just outside the area.

  171. PP
like but do not share your optimism in achieving 38 points. I am coming round to Garde, given that he has spoken up regarding the shambles above him, I’m still bemused by what he was trying in his first 9/10 games repeating the same mistakes of those that went before. The fact the club brought him in and now refuse to back him is nothing short of criminal, Debuchy on loan for 1.2m is not a lot in footballing terms, and here’s something for the money men to think about, the premier league prize money increases by £3m ish per place, so if we only overtook Sunderland that’s and extra £3m, catch the next club that’s £6m extra even if we are still relegated(£9m ish). Effectively Saints by winning and moving up a place yesterday could have paid less than £1m for Charlue Austin , ironic that he has scored the winner at OT, for every place they move up( should they do that) and CA contributes with goals the cheaper he becomes including wages. It’s a very simplistic look I know, but it’s one that was discussed on the Sunday supplement this morning, all agreed that CA is the bargain of the season, a proven natural goal scorer and no one could believe that at least 12 PL clubs haven’t gone balls out to sign him in this or the summer window, I have to agree especially when you see the cash we wasted.

  172. Robbi
5 points from 2 home matches v pal haven’t won in 6 Leicester OK away to wba not one shot on target nothing to big remi up for yes we should had pens 2 matches but also pal keeper done a guzan threw one in
Sherwood worked with fox as remi is finding out complete moron clueless
Only reason we got 5 points is the chuckle bros guzan Hutton not playing
As in dad’s army we are doomed no way back and when we go to mkdons etc next October some culture shock for fox and how many board members now,we don’t get players but yes to management staff and then the tea lady going to get the sack, needs to be action from fans and next week cup match perfect don’t go empty stadium will highlight Lerner mess worldwide

  173. B62
yesterday on sky sports after the games , Charlie Nicolas was going on about Austin and how the 4million southampton paid for him , will get lost in Tax accounts , ( my wife agreed )
Now considering Hollis was head of KPMG you would have thought that one of the biggest tax dodging companies would have thought of that ?? .
my wife had dealings with KPMG and used to have them in for the financial audits , and Fucktards !! her words not mine were what she called them . over £20 ,000 a day each ( & there was 4 of them over 2 weeks ) and my wife and her team would have to put them right every night , and this wasnt a one off , every year , 3rd year she told the head of department to come with them , he was just as bad , so dont let the name think we’ve got anything great , she’s still laughing .

  174. ST-75- lerner picked him enough said.

As for who will come in we will know by the end of the week, hollis hasn’t ruled out any deals and said they are working on some just won’t pay big money. Without a football man to say it’s worth the punt they are reverting to type.

  175. I cannot understand how we have failed to sign any players this window. This board needs to back Remy. We desperately need and new keeper and a striker. With Gestede out we need additional firepower up front. Unfortunately Kosak is not looking up to the job and Ayew is better on the wing. We should have signed Austin in the summer.

All of this preparing for the Championship makes we want to vomit. And so does the incompetent board. Slick delesional Tom, who is building something special and Captin Mannering – good grief

  176. ST75
I never believe the figures regarding Villa, they have always like every other club , circumnavigated the rules all big business’s do it to one degree or another. I remember Villa buying Garry Penrice for £1m instead of paying more to the tax man, Penrice was shit aswell.
We think it’s shite now, wait until next season, no investment of note and the likes of Ayew, Amavi and Veretout sold . I would also expect Kosak, Nzogbia ( contract up), Richardson, Hutton, Guzan, Senderos, and a few others to be moved on.
I’d like to see Villa buy players that will also be able to hold there own in the top flight, should a miracle happen and we return at the first attempt( not likely imho) The club have raised the White flag and fully accepted relegation without a fight, this happened in October/Nov.
The blame lies at the feet of Lerner, Fox, Almstad, Rielly, Sherwood and to some extent Garde.
I know a lot of fans will disagree regarding any blame for Garde, but the results up until very recently were simply not God enough, no wins in his first 10 games, especially playing some very beatable opposition and utilising the same dross making mistake after mistake costing us games and valuable points. He still hasn’t won away and won only 1 league game. It is improving but uts too little too late, he should have changed things up sooner, and then we may have been able to strengthen as we wouldn’t be so adrift

  177. JG. One other thing that prevents any organisation from succeeding is always looking only for the negative.
For sure you have to identify the things that are being done badly so that you know they need improving. But that only gets you so far. You ‘must’ also find the positive things that give you a base to build on.
Take Leicester for example. Yes they have some good players, but that’s not what has taken them to the top of the premiership. It’s their workrate, their team spirit, their never say die, positive, attitude and their belief that they will win.
It seems to me that our board have given up on this season and Remi Garde is having to try and motivate his players to prove not only all the TV pundits and most of the fans, but also his own board that we can actually pull off a miracle this year.

  178. I don’t understand remi garde what did he sign up for surely he was promised money when taking the job,we just have to win matches surely to gamble 25/35 m would make sense when you are talking losing 100 m per season a keeper right back ? Midfielder striker 1/2 Leicester won 7 from last 9 there is no team this season not beatable we missed out on last two matches by not having new fire power crazy plans from nutcase board as collymore said fox said we are getting new website plus selling shirts what odds about the team

  179. Being as the board have raised the white flag ( so much for the marines Krulak ), everyone should wave a white hankie when the teams come out, a word of warning though to whoever sits next the S75, he’s got a bad cold.
As James said, the options were – spend 25m and stay in the Prem or don’t spend and lose 100m, of course we chose the wrong option.
Funny, that story at the AGM about the bloke telling Fox he’d been going to V P for 60 years, Fox gave him some BS and then rambled on about the new web site, knob. I its anything like the launch of the new AVTV in August it’ll be shambolic, judging by that fiasco we should have known what kind of season we’d have.

  180. B62- I think when Garde came in it wasn’t clear what the problem was at the back. Richards was the captain and appeared to be everywhere, lescott looked over the hill and Okore not available or unfit, Clark poor too. remove Richards and everyone plays better IMO. Putting okore and lescott in at first would of potentially meant 2 unfit players so his choices were limited IMO.

He lost Amavi after his first game which meant Richardson then bakuna at LB before we could get Cissoko back (thanks Tim). All this was happening while he was sorting out disaffected players and accessing everyone in preparation for the window and instilling his ideas. For me that means keeping a stable team for 4-6 matches at least, Add to that the Fitness levels were atrocious and have only now come up to scratch. We then got a period after he found his team against west ham that we lost 4-5 through injury and suspension in 2 vital games, since then things have improved .

  181. JG maybe Garde doesn’t think spending that much would result in us staying up and loans and the odd small buy would bring similar results without the risk. On top of that we can’t attract players without paying them a huge contract to get them here even then the top players would look at our position and say no, even loan players are

  182. Cheer up things could be worse…..so I did cheer up…and sure enough, things got worse…..Howard and his mates give away a penalty….!!!!!

Well we will know all by the time we kick off against City next Saturday….and no doubt our fate will be very clear by the final whistle…

I reckon CA earned more than his £4million with that debut yesterday…..Soton now virtually guaranteed safety….with the bonus of beating the Scummers at OT…!!!

  183. Mark k
It’s fox who decides who went out on loan not Sherwood
And no I don’t think garde doesn’t want to spend 8 wins would do some one to score someone to save them a start if guzan had been dropped earlier even 4 matches think west ham Newcastle goals where stopable never mind Sunderland farce

  184. Quite right JG.

Bunn was ok in preseason and should have kept his place over Guzan, and we definitely would have had better results.

    Ayew outstanding for Swansea…!!

  185. JG- No way mate if Sherwood had said no I want to keep him in reserve he would have stayed instead he thought Richardson could do the job. we are only allowed 25 squad players plus under 21’s or 20’s Tim would of made the decision and fox ships them out to reduce wages

Of course ideally Garde would bring in ronaldo but he also see’s the shit we are in he’s not blind and has to work to clubs parameters. They will have discussed the chances of survival VS spending out and maybe Remi said I can do it this way but we still cannot get players to join? not saying its so but its a possibility as he doesn’t appeared to bothered.

  186. JG I don’t disagree but would you have said Lescott was the answer at that point? he looked worse than Richards until Richards was removed. Okore was just back for injury don’t forget, we had no cover for hutton either only bacuna who was tripe under Tim at RB and Garde would of watched the vids

  187. Mark k
Think your over exarating Sherwood’s power at the time ,he had very little I don’t know what kind contracts fox got them to sign
As for transfer we need players doesn’t matter what league we are in
Keeper bunn will do for back up
Defence all contracts fox gave out probably okore will go
Midfield that’s a sham calling it that gana Sanchez vertout gil will go what are we left the crab who can’t compete v Wycombe over two matches yet its only grealish that gets mentioned lad of 20 with less than 20 starts poor man management that
Strikers another one for trade description act ayew will go,flabby will not play here under garde and no one else will give him a contract like fox,Sinclair not rated either, kozak garde like his decision to stick with guzan Hutton Richardson and rudi madness not to play sooner, rudi not going to be able to build team around him impact sub at best
So if no deals now another summer in which over 30 players coming and going

  188. To be honest JG I can’t see what your basing that on? Tim Sherwood shaped the squad and Garde will this one in the summer. All the back-room staff do is identify possible transfers if his 1st choice isn’t possible they move to the next. in the summer Tim picked players from lists when he was told Townsend etc were not on the menu. He flew all over the place talking to Adama etc

  189. steamer- “I am allowed to sign whoever I want in the summer as long as I can justify it, but I believe even if we didn’t make a signing we wouldn’t be in this position again.” – Tim Sherwood last season on relegation

He obviously could not get his choices justified by their criteria and are we really surprised?

  190. Mark k
    Our squad had no shape
    Missing start season
Keeper Sherwood wanted begovic got bunn young lad
    Right back
Winger Sherwood wanted Lennon,Townsend got adamq who still hasn’t managed 90 mins all season
Striker Sherwood wanted Adbeyoer got ?
Sherwood was marking his time from early summer
Fox and fox only is to blame for the mess we are in all his appointment gone wrong
As for garde he not blame to only have got 8 points is shocking as was his choice to stick with guzan Hutton Richardson and rudi,as his treatment of grealish, didn’t watch cup replay but no way should grealish carried the can for another white performance like Everton arsenal Norwich Sunderland first halves v Newcastle leiscter, Sherwood only lost one match Chelsea by more than one goal another guzan howler

  191. JG I understand all of that but they were not going to spend the £100mil it would of took to buy prem experience at the right age. They recognised too late that Tim was the wrong man, thats what you get when you know sod all about football. Put Garde in the same situation and we would have been a different team entirely. garde would of known the players on the lists presented. I remember Uncle fester saying Tims knowledge of players around Europe is encyclopaedic yet Tim said these are not my players I don’t know them??? Fox was a fool to allow Tim to oversee the biggest player swap in years, realised it to late.

  192. Sherwood was fox puppet till he seen fox hanging out to dry, over the years Lerner bought silence from Mon McLeish Faulkner Lambert Sherwood and now fox and we are the ones suffering time for boycott villa park merchandise season tickets should be sent back as faultiy goods

  193. Steamer- what Fox is saying isn’t wrong unfortunately we have a bunch of tossers learning on the Job, unfortunately you don’t learn to climb at the top of Everest. Fox by his own mouth takes responsibility so should step down for a better man. let him work where he is effective and gag the wanker.

  194. Garde is another puppet for fox
Fox says you say this now, blame Sherwood blame last 5 years I fox won t say it took you 10 matches to get win Swansea have 2 out of 2 under new man Sunderland picked up under big Sam we didn’t

  195. How is this singling him out? he gets asked questions and he answers them

‘I haven`t seen exactly what I wanted to see from him tonight, to be fair. You saw the game – Jack started the game and it was his first game for quite a long time now. He’s not the only one but I know he has played in the part of the game when we were not good collectively. It’s not only about Jack but I was not happy way the team has played the first hour’

  196. James – absolutely no point in critsising Remy Garde. I actually think he has a good footballing brain. We have been the better side against Crystal Palace, Leicester and WBA. And we have tried to play football. If we had a decent centre forward I think we would have won all these games.

The board should back Garde. We need a striker. Desperately. We have lost key players – Amavi – Traore and now Rudy. The board should not wave the white flag – back the manager and see what he can achieve.

  197. Mark k
I just don’t think remi is our messiah, can’t understand how 24 days in not one signing our the board that stupid
    Richards
In them 3 matches how many goal stopping saves did we force as for traore remi didn’t play him

  198. JG,
    Guidolin’s a Villa fan too.
    RichardS
Disgraceful, the gap isn’t that big, but their determined to go the relegation route. Any doubts that Lerners in it for the money has been dispelled, he’ll settle for a couple of years with the parachute payments, sell anyone any cop (note Fox has say on the outgoing players) and then he’ll sell us off for a third of what his asking now or keep us as a tax loss, Bright future my ‘arris. This is the reptile that according to his puppet chairman is ‘passionate’ about the club.
Carson Yeung anyone ? at least he’s in a cell where he can’t do any damage, our loony is walking the streets.

  199. Mark k
Do you not think last 2 matches remi should tried something different last ten mins from bench, even to win one lose the other you would gain a point
Under Sherwood last year we picked up 16 points after only getting 3 in previous 2 months

  200. Yes, what happened after those two scintillating free kicks?!?!?
He can’t seem to shoot or cross lately when running with the ball. He has put in some decent crosses in the past but he’s not got a footballing brain so is just not good enough. What’ve uve said about garde and Hollis for my money are spot on! Garde is the best manager we’ve had in a long time and with some support will bring us right back if if we can’t pull off the miracle.
    Utv

  201. JG but that was a different side that had been together for several seasons at that point, they had stopped attacking full stop and we sold one of them for £32mil. If you put Remi into Swansea I’m sure he would of got results, even paul daniels would struggle at a club where they had zero confidence and he’s magic

  202. Well here is a much more positive view from the Mirror surprisingly and one which I agree with. Great to read that the 2,500 villa away fans applauded the team off (all I heard were the Baggie fans booing loudly) . Let Remi spend on a good striker and the great escape is a possibility. Remi Guard is making a team out of the players he’s got . Something Tim Sherwood gave up on.
    http://bit.ly/1PtzLyp

  203. Interesting to see Oxford pick up Jordan Bowery off the scrap heap, and put him on as substitute against Portsmouth, although he had not played since November, and within ten minutes he scored with a blistering shot to win the game. They reckon he has great potential, and just maybe needed a loving arm round him.

How many times do we hear things like this, where we have failed to develop our players.

I did feel if he had more opportunity, he could have made it at Villa.

  204. Steamer75. I know where your missus is coming from with her comments about KPMG. I’ve recently led the turnaround of a business that had been losing millions for years. KPMG had been the auditors throughout that period. Now I’m not knocking them. . . . they’re no different from all the other big accountancy firms. They do an important job in overseeing corporate governance, but that is not the same as actually running the business. They ensure that certain financial and corporate governance boxes are ticked and sometimes make useful suggestions but these are all intellectually based, and successful businesses also need passionate people with an emotional connection to their product and customers.
Aston villa will not succeed if it is purely driven by intellectuals against a set of financial criteria. For sure the business needs a brain (and that has been lacking in the past) but it needs a heart too.
Randy Lerner and Hollis need to be humble enough and smart enough to understand that it’s important to have a brain, but that it’s the beating heart that keeps it alive.

  205. Fox
Said only problem with summer transfer was settling in period well fox you have wasted 5 matches in which to bed in new keeper strikers well done you might even sold new shirts with new names on
Reading about Austin’s goal for soton even if he doesn’t play again the extra 2 points from that goal can pay off his transfer fee if soton finish 2 places higher in league
Villas finances said for years Lerner been manipulating them to suit him if Hollis thinks 7/9 m equals 24 m we are fucked

  206. Renaming Tom Fox and Steve Hollis. Tom will now be know as Tom Fux and Steve will become Steve Hopelis.

Meaning Aston Villa is being run by Hopelis Fux.

Disappointing our dominance of the baggies didn’t return 3 points, hope still springs eternal that we can continue to pick up points and pull off the great escape.

    FOLAFAH

  207. I am sure Benteke would love a return on loan and it will get his confidence back . But would his pride let him? It should , he could be the most important villa player for decades . Come back Big Ben .

  208. Robbo

agree with you, as there is so much more to a successful business, and one is perseverance, something missing from all levels at VP, and especially on the pitch until recently…

What a lovely thought Jen, but as with Austin, Villa would not be paying £100,000 per week in wages.

Austin also only wanted to go to Soton, because he is a local boy from Poole, where he started his football, and like many footballers, etc…..No-one is tempted to the Midlands we no longer have the same clout as Manchester or London, even if we had successful sides, and how did Demari Gray slip away without us even showing an interest??

Let us hope Remi can find a couple of players before the end of the week, otherwise, it is going to be about getting the best out of our own, which also means maybe, with Remi’s guidance, that JG will come through for us, and be the player he should be!

  209. Robbo
l hear what your saying but lm just saying what experience she had with them at the time . she got headhunted a few years ago , and that company she worked for is now just a stand alone office , all in china now ! . but she did comment on how at the villa there is not one football person on the board , and as for putting a football fan on it just to appease us , you can imagine where that person or persons would come from , the same lot who clapped them last week ,
people on FB asking is it right that west ham got the olympic stadium , well if you remember that lot being at the blues and at the time Birmingham council was looking at building a stadium at the NEC and brady and her bunch jumped straight in , well they have done it again and succeeded this time , clever fuckers if you ask me , wrong that taxpayers money being used and a cover up about the finances , but you got too give them ,
    still no-one signed yet ??
    D.O.R
    great lines mate ))

  210. I certainly think that the club see some financial benefit with relegation that will give Lerner a return on his money. Obviously Lerner has lost interest and put us down as a bad investment and as long as we don’t continue as a burden on his bank account then we’ll remain in his domain.
It’s almost as if the board are encouraging our demise instead of fighting against it.
If you were in a battle for safety would you want Lerner, Hollis and Fox to rely on for survival ? they make Ellis look both competent and, dare i say it, honourable.
Obviously desperate for a striker, Bamford would cost peanuts and knows where the net is.

  211. Steamer- maybe his other businesses are making to much money and he wants us to balance the tax? Can’t be an insurance policy they’d be turned down for incompetence. Good shout on Bamford

  212. Looks like black coming tomoz. Im all for it. Remis idea and he interviewed him.

We was fairly excited about the big names of wilkins and keano coming and look how hat ended! Ill give him a chance

  213. Can’t think of many people who would have taken this job on but Remi has instilled organisation and confidence into the club, hope he stays but i doubt he will.
I understand that Fox is on 1.5m per annum to destroy us, now he’s laying off loyal staff working for a comparative pittance, what about him taking a cut ?
I see that the top of the Trinity is closed for the cup game with city as a cost cutting exercise, clubs dead.

  214. Steamer: I just saw where you asked me how things were going, and alluding to our election season; sorry that I missed your question at the time you asked it.

To answer your question, I’m a fellow that’s spent over 40 years of his life being a political “junkie” — in fact, at one time I helped manage the inaugural Congressional election campaign of a man who eventually rose through the ranks to claim the second-highest post in the House of Representatives in Washington.

Having said that, I have never been more disappointed in the state of American politics than I am right now. All I see is a torrent of abuse, paranoia, blame-shifting, corruption due to special interests and their pernicious wealth, ridiculously rigid ideologies, and rage-filled screeds.

At this point, all that I can say is … “A pox on all their houses!!”

  215. Robbo:
“… successful businesses also need passionate people with an emotional connection to their product and customers.
Aston villa will not succeed if it is purely driven by intellectuals against a set of financial criteria. For sure the business needs a brain (and that has been lacking in the past) but it needs a heart too.
Randy Lerner and Hollis need to be humble enough and smart enough to understand that it’s important to have a brain, but that it’s the beating heart that keeps it alive.”

Excellent point! But as Lerner has proven by first destroying the Cleveland Browns and then Aston Villa, “smarts” and “humility” are not only two virtues which he certainly doesn’t possess, but also that he couldn’t even spell!

Lerner is that rare combination of the Scarecrow and the Tin Man — no brains and no heart!!

  216. Texas,
I certainly fear for the world if Trump and Palin are possibilities for the White House.

Lerner is that rare combination of the Scarecrow and the Tin Man — no brains and no heart!!
    Quality.

I see Connor Wickham is being done for elbows, not a mention of Huth or the Sunderland thug.

  217. 24mill for shelvy and townsend! They are gambling with the tv money…think toon will stay up but if not they could be in troubles?

TBH we are just not in position to gamble like that, need to let remi have funds in the summer and let him spend though.

If i was manager the first out asap this window or summer needs to be guzan, hutton, senderous, richardson nzog gabby. After that westy, clarke, bacuna gestede. All these players should be replaced by any promising youth player eg out westy and replaced by Lyden…saving money and at worst keeping the same level of player or by spending a bit extra on quality. No more buying average random players. Spend on quality and promote youth

  218. Wizard of Oz makes it to AVL in style, round of applause for that Texas, made me smile on a dreary Dublin day.

Seen written elsewhere probably Football365 that the Toon side do enough to keep McLaren safe but nothing more, I’d agree they are gambling but it’s a big risk especially in this season where more and more teams can beat each other on the day, there isn’t that consistency that can guarantee Toon to go on a run to safety.

It’s probably that inconsistency that is preventing Villa climbing closer to 17th spot because at different stages, Norwich, Sunderland, Newcastle and Swansea have pulled off unexpected wins.

Can we drag more consistently poor teams back like Palace (despite their start to the season) and the Tesco boys.

What a wealth of experience Black brings to the No.2 spot and not the failed manager, no.2, pundit like Wilkins, a bit more solid building from AVFC.

Andrew I’d keep Clarke and Bacuna from your list, but agree on all the rest

    FOLAFAH

  219. i read blacks cv in the brum mail, fairly impressed. certainly will have to be bad to trump wilkins and keano! Important thing its remis own man.

    ….still no outgoings or incomings………

  220. DOR, agree about Black, just because he was a mealie and has no record of success as a coach, he’s an assistant manager to Remi, not a coach, he has knowledge of the Championship, Leagues 1 &2, Scotland and apart from speaking four languages will have contacts in those countries, horses for courses, we have a few donkey’s though.

  221. steamer- love that article, shame we don’t need someone from the inside to know what’s going on now.

Despite all that’s going on I really feel Garde is the man to build us up and be a rallying point for the team and players. When he is finished there won’t be a slacker at the club. Black is a typical Remi appointment, Intelligent, multi-lingual, willingness to learn, has experience of many aspects of football. I couldn’t care less if he has never won anything I trust Remi’s judgement, the first manager I can say that about in years.

  222. Andrew,
Sorry, if he’s a coach then, IMO, he’s no-where near good enough, as an AM for Remi to bounce ideas off acceptable, his CV a a coach is poor.

  223. Mark,
Totally agree about Remi, hope the crepe who run the club give him a chance.
Your taking some welly off those muppets aren’t you ? JD’s handing some OTT stuff too.

  224. Mark,
Don’t forget that Remi’s products paid for Lyons new stadium which opened this season, that’s why they weren’t genuine challengers.

  225. Steamer- Reginald ray is the assistant manager, I suspect Black is there to bring balance between the overly French back room staff. Maybe his language abilities are the deciding factor in bringing him in.

  226. Can some explain what Lerner has done at villa any developments at ground, training ground where did money go,the figures for transfer show an average of 10 m per season spend no matter what spin Hollis puts on it.
And why would garde take on job without guarantee oF money in November, then have it taken away in January, why does garde stay if not a well paid puppet for fox,is that what it is money for garde his reputation not taking a hit blame Sherwood every other manager has blamed last manager or lack of money after they have cashed their cheque
Townsend 12 m vertout 8.5 m who is better value someone used to premier league or someone going to take 6 months minium

  227. Well done mate, windup merchant.

    James,
I think Garde was promised money then had it taken away, most managers (TS) would throw their toys out of the pram but Garde has integrity and also had to think of the coaches he bought with him, i think he’ll go at the end of the season though. Blacks only got a 6 month contract, that’s an indication.
I don’t actually see much point in AVFC, if we stay up we won’t spend so will be in exactly the same position and if we are relegated and its all change again then with no money available we’ll go straight through to Lge 1. Any large sums of money the club generates is going into Lerners wallet.

  228. Steamer
Surely remi coaches would have same contract get outs
Didn’t know black only got 6 month contract
It all leads back to deadly selling biggest wanker in U S OF A
But how will Lerner sell when we are in league one with Barry fry in charge with fox as number 2

  229. steamer- A Lickspittal 🙂
So hard to call whats going to happen you are forced to go with the flow and hope someone offers lerner some bunce soon. I think the Black thing is down to Garde being cautious and maybe hedging his bets for his Lyon mates who knows.

have a read of this, if you can get your head around this it shows that buying from abroad may not be so easy, how the crap its legal I don’t know

    http://7500toholte.sbnation.com/2016/1/26/10834780/aston-villa-work-permit-england-FA-european-economic-community-european-union-croatia

  230. Exactly Steamer on FOLAFAH, not catchy but covers the individuals responsible for the state we are in

This window is absolutely evidence of two things, there is no need for conspiracy theories.

    1. Our position in the league is dictating why some players who we may have inquired about are not willing to consider us and
    2. There is an approach by the financial mgmt of the club to not spend money based on seeing if the summer transfer window requires us to look at prem quality or championship quality.

Despite maybe tinkering with a few loan deals i.e. looking at keepers and right backs, the reality is the main issue is us being goal shy, we’ve improved defensively mostly by the omission of Hutton and Guzan and Richardson so now we need goals. I’m hoping that Villa are doing a deal with a proven goalscorer outside of the media radar.

I do expect the financial stability and the parachute payments to stop the rot and not see us become a Portsmouth but I’d be very wary on us progressing back without some real investment and the figures show Lerner has stopped investing significantly since Bent.

    FOLAFAH

  231. Hi all , just back from Jamaica and walking out of gatwick on my return was like walking out of color the other end and walking into black and white at home

I was hoping would have one or two ins and outs by now
it seems we are the least attractive club in the lge barr non

a win in the cup with a changed team and three draws on the bounce s not what the doctor ordered but still represents a lot of progress in terms of the state the manager found us in

still b;leek but still hope if Garde can just get those two or three players that can make a difference

  232. If the club is closing the Trinity top tier for a game vs Man City i wonder if they’ll close two stands when we play the lesser lights of the Championship, maybe they’ll close the Holte and transfer them to the North Stand.

  233. 🙂 steamer i wish i could go back until the end of the season
yes mark i am fully loaded with charley’s JB overproof white rum which is my favorite but hard to get in the uk along with some Jamaican rum creams and wines — ray and nephew banana rum cream is amazing

    time to get out jogging

  234. Lerner’s a cnut may he die screaming in pain, we are finished as a football club while the form of Lerner cancer stays with us,we will drift into football obliteration, never to see top flight football again,
27 days transfer window gone only players leaving, top tier closed for cup match against reigning premier league champions, even roll up,roll up last chance to see winners at villa park for decades to come, all the staff will either lose their jobs or pay cuts yet the happy clappers still go and support fox Reilly alstad ,Hollis and Lerner time for all fans to boycott every thing to do with villa, anything Hollis involved needs to be targeted, Lerner USA base has to be aimed as well,
My clubs dieing and Lerner to blame

  235. To not get a striker in is putting up a massive white flag over vp. Fans should respong with white handkeys. Anyone want a bet how many times we will score 2 goals or more rst of season?

  236. Andrew
    It’s yellow should be waved
Now 3 of 25 man squad gone ilor cole crespo plus zog and Gabby not going to be picked, amavi swap for cissko, traore out long term ,not sure on rudi,so we are down to19 players,3 keepers and Hutton Sanchez out injured

  237. Lerner’s undoubtably a coward with a low intellect, he may be a qualified accountant but as regards his responsibilities he’s a total failure. His own employee described him as “the most insignificant billionaire in the world” and was fired for his trouble but Lerner has made AVFC insignificant too. How he had the bare faced nerve to attend the Cup Final, cosying up the the bigwigs i’ll never know, shameful.
I don’t know who Lerner’s scriptwriter is but that rubbish about only selling Villa when we’re the best run club in the country is typical NY BS, it’ll never happen given the evidence of the last ten years.
How the hell has Tom Fox kept his job ? he’s cost Lerner 100m + and without exaggeration could easily be the death of this club. Hollis is just a clueless buffoon who would rip the heart out of his granny if it paid enough. I’m afraid its the end chaps and with the dubious characters running AVFC over the past 30 odd years we won’t be missed.

  238. The worst part is when the dummy leaves, 100% certain he’s going to sell to another clueless American who knows f-all about the game. Ellis turned down the Man City mob on those grounds and then sells us to this utter knob. I had my suspicions when Lerner didn’t re-name the Witton Lane stand but the last straw was McKnob, since then its got even worse.

  239. Are we now looking towards a bright future????…..or are we the wildebeast in its final death throes….

Only time will tell….will the great Villa Park start to decay…..as the legends disappear….

Great to see Morley tell the truth about Ellis’s destruction of the club, and how he hated the things the Bendall’s had created In his absence.

Seems to have died a little here too….

  240. Mark,
fox also said did he not Randy will back the club if they go down?

General BS also said that Lerner always backs his managers… any sign of it yet ?
    Bamford would be a start.

Wonder what Lerner thinks his legacy will be, the BH improvements, Acorns ? no it’ll be destroying two sports club because he was too thick to listen to any advice. His reputation as a businessman in the USA must be a joke,no wonder he can’t/won’t find a buyer, everything he touches turns to shite.

  241. Hello PP,
Nice to have someone to talk to.
Can i ask you if rather than see AVFC decline even further and drop into Lge 1 and 2, would you rather we folded ?

  242. have a lot of players turned us down ? or are we only after a keeper

if it’s only two players coming in surely we need a striker or we might as well not turn up for the rest of this season

  243. Steamer- yes fox said Randy would back us if we dropped, no way of telling if that will happen, signs I grant you are not good. Did see a link that we are looking at bamford. Legacy? a shit badge mate

Runtingz we have been linked with all and sundry but to consensus is we either won’t pay the money or the players don’t want to come to the good ship Titanic. my thoughts is it will be a few loans RB,DM and a forward. The keeper will be a buy if it happens and Guzan will be gone. The other thing that may happen imo is an under the radar Winger/10 from inside remis jacket.

  244. Paul/Steamer,

Much as I like you guys, I have no great axe to grind over Doug. What I’m saying now is what I’ve said so many times.

    1. Morley has never been a manager and certainly not a chairman of anything sizeable so far as I’m aware. As a player he was terrific and a hero.

    2. That from 1982 on the income from gate receipts was getting to be awful owing to the economic situation in the Midlands. And those were the days of no great TV income, let’s not forget. Ellis felt he had to make some responsible decisions from a financial point of view and hence players on the big contracts (before Ellis (of 1982) Villa’s players were the league’s top earners).

I’m not denying some of the points Morley has made have rings of truth about them, but I think they’re being over-hyped, as people often do, especially when he (Morley) feels he was victimised. It so happens, though, that Mark Walters was waiting in the wings and was a good alternative – and with Morley’s old mentor (Saunders) gone then Morley’s days were already getting numbered.

No, Ellis does not go down in history as one of Villa’s great chairmen, but it’s the fact that he was around for so long and took a “I do it My way” approach that he’s even less esteemed.

The truth is, we’ve not really had a good enough chairman since Rinder. They even dragged him back to sit on the board in the last couple of years of his life and even at that age he showed them how to do a thing or two. A master, and Villa to the core.

  245. Runtingz,
I think you were away when the AVST had their AGM with an all star cast of Steve Hollis and Tom Fox, the usual business jargon was used but the general concensus was that remi will be lucky to see any money and were going to have to make do with loans (if we can get any). Fox was his usual slimy self, admitting to numerous major mistakes but not offering his resignation, sickening.
So there we have it, the committee are 100% behind Remi but won’t give him any $$ and if we’re relegated it will be his fault and not theirs. And yes, even our crepe targets don’t want to know us.

  246. sad state of affairs eh guys
i heard a figure of 10mil to send plus any sales
is gabby really off ? would be a good move for all concerned

Well randy has pretty much hung us out to dry with all the other clubs doing all the can to up there quality and secure there status , it seems like randy excepted relegation a while back

just hope Remy can continue to improve what he has and shuffle the pack a little before deadline

  247. Steamer- bad for turkey aren’t they on rations?

Runtingz- Garde has hinted that a lot get done late so fingers crossed, apparently nzogbia is refusing to leave what a surprise, why do we buy these cock heads

  248. Not been on for a few days, as I have been on the lash in Dublin with the wife and another couple. Dublin always delivers went to some cracking pubs, drank far too much Guinness and Hop House 13 🙂 Iv strategically placed a few Villa stickers in the boozers.
As for the club itself, the embarrassment continues, no players in, having to close half the trinity rd stand for the visit of Man City, the club is rotten to the core and is dying on its feet. I still think Garde may walk next week if he gets no new players or it is shown that Fox and co lied to his face. I certainly don’t believe this is the end of the decline, we will struggle next season in a dog eat dog league.

  249. Id love dwight gayle but it all comes back to why would they join us! I think we still may get someone on the last day when players waiting for a better club ralise no one else in for hem and thy plump for us.

Bampford would maybe jon us and not mind championship footy.

I dont think remi will walk. Will be here next season, not sure what players hough

  250. Why have English media not picked up on what a wanker Lerner is,runation of one of English premier clubs, bad decisions after bad decisions, appointment of McLeish, let Lambert have control ,Lambert got help from sky mates about how hard conditions he had to work under, no word of bad buys or let albrighton go sign tonev, helnius for 5 m plus wages, next season Cole ,sendross and Richardson came in for what75/90 thou week wages 2 didn’t make double figures appearances had to be paid off to go,Hutton no appearance in 2 years 3 matches gets new contract, then Lerner biggest puppet fox appeared new contracts for Gabby that no one else wanted, farce with delph contract,Lambert’s new contract then sacking,Sherwood’s appointment changing conditions in summer, looks same again with garde, but why risk relegation with 100 m at stake

  251. Evening all.
So Mr Cool Runtungz rocks up from Jamaica – I’m so damn envious I couid cry ! Good to see you back Runtingz – we will have to do the present swap when we meet 🙂

I see Zoggy getting a hard time on Twitter with villa fans asking him whether he knows where the door is . To expect him to go for less wages is unrealistic . Would we swap a 63k a week job for a 20k one ? No. He is another causality of the Aston Villa mismanagement . Remember being quite excited when he came after his fantastic season at Wigan . But like Darren Bent , the procession of managers , change in playing styles and personnel have made it difficult for any of them to maintain their form let alone improve. You may argue their attitude hasn’t helped but do we really know what’s been going on behind the scenes with the toing and froing and the creation of bomb squads and recalls. Aston Villa hasn’t only been a blight on managers careers , but it’s also had a similar affect on the players . we had an academy that won the next gen series , where are they now ? Name one player who the club have nurtured and developed .

Was listening to the radio and Nigel Kennedy was doing a programme on his version of Vivaldis Four Seasons . (Actually beautiful to listen to ) At the end he started talking about Aston Villa . His view was that it would do us good to be in the Championship as “I can’t be doing with the Premier League ” any more he said . I don’t agree . I also find it diabolical that our Directirs are saying we shouldn’t be frightened at the thought of relegation . What a stupid message to send to the players ! This is sport – where the objective is winning ! Now the players have been given permission to fail .

No signings , deep down not surprised but that doesn’t remove the bitter disappointment and sense of betrayal that most villa fans must be feeling .

  252. Only just back home Steamer.

No I would not like to see the Villa fold, but would like to see it handed back to the Supporters and a new board of able local businessmen who are also Villa fans. It is hard to believe that there is not one single business man from the Midlands, that does not want to be involved in making this club great again.

I hear what you are saying JL, but Villa were only well paid players, because they were getting the results. Their pay was based on win bonuses, and their position in the league, which also meant more bodies through the turnstiles, more shirts being sold, and would have continued, we were also in a much stronger position financially, but Doug also made himself the first paid chairman in football, and was also using money to prop up his ailing holiday business, which was suffering from a poor economy, more so than Aston Villa..!!!

  253. Can’t agree with you more Jen, but perhaps Lerner feels he can cope better with the finances in the lower leagues, and does not need to invest more money in the ground and the facilities, etc.

There could be a point that Sky will now be paying reasonable money to televise the Championship, now they have effectively taken it from the Beeb.

Pleased to see Warnock looking forward to proving himself and the Derby team against Utd, after Houllier tossed him into the wilderness, without explanation…..more and more coming out from ex-players.

  254. Jen- Its OK saying we wouldn’t take a pay cut but is that true? if you were truly unhappy money means zilch. He obviously isn’t unhappy not playing and taking his money. Now you would think that the very least the club deserve is his respect for 62k and his professional effort as a player. garde has recognised that this immensely talented individual could not give a rats arse and won’t put the effort into training? how many of us would last in a job with that attitude? not one, but we don’t have a contract saying pay me for 5 years regardless of whether I produce or not. Yes the club are useless but as a professional footballer he’s a disgrace. Sorry about the rant but there are about 100,000 people out there that would play for villa for nothing let alone £1000 upwards a week.

  255. Blimey pp warnock was shocking under houllier and the last year under mon was not good, constant free kicks given away. don’t know where his head was but he was poor at that point.

  256. For Zog to leave he needs a club to go to Mark. why would he swap AV for a league one club as I can’t see them queuing up for him. we don’t know if he wants to play or not – I’d assume he moved from Wigan on the basis that his playing career would improve not die. When we bought him there were a few prem clubs interested in him and his performances for Wigan had been spectacular . Maybe I’m too soft but I just can’t see a pro sportsman at the age he was and with his potential moving just for the money (yes when they’re older ). He was out in the bomb squad, had his shirt number taken off him under Lambert and maybe not given the chance . We don’t know what has been going on at BMH these last four years but shambolic is probably a compliment .

  257. Jen- He was a pain in the butt at wigan angling for a move and the problem is as Garde has said is he is wasting his talent, doesn’t train at the required level. I would think if its just a case of we need him off the wage bill Garde would not of said that. He could go to china the emirates or America where they wouldn’t care about fitness so much and where his weird get-ups would look normal. not 😉

I will say this when he came here we were in the way down, mon had gone, fans rebelling, cuts in our spending, I suspect we offered him and Wigan the most. A player supposedly at his best when we got him would surely have gone to Manure, city , liverpoo anywhere in with a chance of silverware. Can you name me one game where he showed his talent for us? I’m struggling, he is after all a bit of a solo effort merchant? The big old fact is nobody wants him he’s that good or he is waiting for a big payday on a bosman, I hope nobody wants him, he’s waisted his best years and has never moved because he knows this is the appex for him.

  258. I listened to mark draper talking about addy yesterday he was not complementary, the whole he’s misunderstood, needs to be loved is overplayed, he likes the money and talks about nothing else, Nzogbia is a walking wardrobe not a serious athlete, what these players don’t have is a grip on reality, they are massively privileged to get payed so much for what is a game, they need to realise that and give something in return and act professionally, something required in all other jobs.

  259. Joe kinnear
Managed zog at Newcastle called him insomnia got slated for it
He zog is just another, probably last time Lerner signed a big name to please fans after selling young downing,Mon spending looks OK when compared to the year after he walked 50 m spent nothing recouped massive wages on Ireland bent makoun given zog plus hutton

  260. B62 shame on you for going to Dublin and not arranging a pint or two with us 🙂 glad you had a good time though

Completely calm about this window, I don’t doubt Remi is trying to get deals done, whether it’s our relegation status or the board not backing Remi because they expect relegation and don’t want to offer contracts I don’t know but what will be, will be.

Day 1 of Lerner’s reign was the beginning of the end and that slippery slope only lead to one outcome, we’ve been saved by three worse teams every season and now the population of crap in Prem is so reduced that we’ve no choice but to get relegated.

I’m confident that Remi is not a puppet judged by him calling out the mgmt to answer questions he isn’t responsible for, I’m convinced that Remi would have saved us in a full season and I’m convinced we’ll be playing better football again in the championship with a bit of pride restored to us Villa fans.

Players leaving brilliant, they aren’t contributing to Villa and are a drain on resources. Zog should like Senderos agree a contract termination, it still means a pay off for doing nothing and makes him a free agent to join the MLS or Chinese leagues. Shame on him for taking a wage and not earning it.

    FOLAFAH

  261. Read somewhere not sure the boot room or something like it,Sherwood had meeting with fox and cronies after cup final,18 man squad on board he removed 3 names told them rest had to be replaced, they weren’t good enough,Sherwood didn’t want Sinclair either
Garde is starting to sound like puppet for fox today’s press conference, Gabby can score goals for us what planet is garde on,he hasn’t been with us since I garde took over liar don t know which match it was Gabby appeared as sub for garde.asked on transfer garde not my job I am not going to moan about no when your paycheck keeps coming puppet

  262. jc i think garde’s words were gabby can help us to score goals – which for me would be accurate as we all know gabbs is more miss than hit in front of goal
he can open some space due to the fact he can run fairly quickly — saying that if he was sold it wouldn’t be terrible news

jen you was in mexico not so long ago – really would like to go there some point – the natives would love you in JA 🙂
Must be a real headache being villa manager and it will take miracle management just to stay 10 points adrift as all managers except ours are receiving strong backing from there boards in this window

  263. Regarding Zog, with 6 months on his contract left you’d think he’d get fit, win a place in the team and attempt to impress possible new employers where he may get a similar wage to what he’s currently stealing, instead he’s not training, getting fat and on his way to Ligue 2. Not welcome at VP, he had a bad name before we signed him just like Ade and now Aggy, there’s givers and takers, guess what they are ?

  264. I’d be very disappointed if Remi was considering selecting Aggy, to me it reeks of Fox telling Remi that ‘the legend’ is on a 55k per week contract ( given to him by the idiot Fox ) no-one wants to sign him because 1) he’s out of condition – 2) he has a bad attitude – 3) he’s unprofessional and 4) he’s crepe – however someone has to save Fox’s face so Remi has to go against his better judgement and play the clown.

  265. Once again AVFC is discriminated against, how can Chelsea sign a USA defender with ONE cap and Villa not allowed to sign a GK from the EEU ? Just another thing that makes no sense along with the tunnel bust up with Swansee where Richards was suspended one hour before the Palace game, Swans have had another similar incident since which went unpunished, then there’s the refs with blatant penalties not awarded, flying elbows too and last seasons mini pitch invasion which cost us several 100k while Blackpool had a game abandoned and got 50k. I think Dyke has made the right decision to resign, never the man for the job, looks after the london clubs and those from Manchester and Liverpool and thats it, also talks crepe.

  266. Well Gabby and Sinclair are now staying at Villa, and Remi is giving the impression that he has only really seen the potential in Gabby this week, since he has been back in full training and showing no further effects from his back injury.

Maybe he sees Gabby and Sinclair as the impact players that can give him an unexpected win on Saturday!!!

Getting the impression that we are not going to succeed in signing anyone. I am sure nothing is going to be revealed before tomorrow.

  267. Yes Paul, GA and Sinclair are only in because no-one will come to Villa, they’d rather sign for Slumberland who probably have a worse record than us over the last decade, in fact over 90 years they’ve done next to nothing, what a reputation Villa must have in the football community.
Going through the blogs there’s actually customers who believe that the fat parasite will keep us up with his pace and deadly finishing, Grant was correct “delusional.”

  268. ‘fraid so Steamer….

Maybe being delusional helps a bit….like half a dozen braindeaders….
Will have to wait until I have driven home though before any medicine tomorrow!!!

Where oh where are the money men of the Midlands…??/ Not involved in beer and footy and that is why they have money………..!!!!

looks like we will just have each other to talk to here soon Steamer…..such is the lack of interest and hope…….Maybe Villa Park is becoming like the old fun fairs of yesteryear….

unless Remi can work miracles in the next year or so…….if he remains..

  269. Steamer
That’s one thing fox ,Lerner haven’t counted into ever selling villa fans, all the blogs have collasped no new visitors, bloggers ,fans are giving up if the board already have and they get paid why will fans hand over any more money, even where I live Irish countryside when Mon was in charge used to see villa shirts on young boys at football,my own children laugh at villa support gunners Chelsea lpool ,season tickets have to drop the happy clappers cannot support this tyrant any longer
What remi say today he wanted 5 players in window ,well remi show some balls stick two fingers at fox on Tuesday morning when you say you are going back to TV work if not your the puppet John Doyle preached for some time now

  270. JA it is then Runtingz!
    🙂

JamesG – Joe Jinnear the clown of the premier league – probably doesn’t know what insomnia is and called Johan Cabaye Johan Kebab , Ben Arfa , Ben Alfri. Best parody account when he was DOF at Newcastle . Miss his comedy value .

Doing the maths – if we spend zero , get rid of a few , get the going down payment , the 100 million sky money isn’t so great maybe . To improve the squad we’d have had to spend say 50 mill plus wages .

  271. i bear they’re closing the top tier of the trinity on Saturday ,
well if they dont think we’ll get over 30K for man City, what will we get for Rotherham at home next year on a Tuesday night ? .

  272. Well garde’s presser was illuminating today, gabbys not off , no bids for our players (surprise not)
Remi wanted five players but he says he wont get that many but still hopes to get some by monday.
He has made his recommendations to the board for now and the future and says its up to them they deal with the money.
The most revealing one was he doesn’t want a football person on the board, he said basically he knows enough about football and doesn’t need someone telling him his business. that rules out Fox forcing him to use gabby or do pretty much anything. He also thinks its disrespectful to the players to discuss targets as he wants them focussed on the job.

Myself I’m sick to death of Ill informed speculation and accusations levelled at Remi, Its a tough Job that nobody really knows other than him what has been said or promised. At the moment it appears he is just getting on with it regardless.

  273. PP: “I hear what you are saying JL, but Villa were only well paid players, because they were getting the results. Their pay was based on win bonuses, and their position in the league, which also meant more bodies through the turnstiles, more shirts being sold, and would have continued, we were also in a much stronger position financially, …”

Yes, that was until 1982 when the gates had fallen dramatically (for a side that had just won the Euro Cup!!) and merchandise wasn’t selling that well and HDE inherited a deficit of around £1m (I think I’m correct). The financial situation then was *not* clever – in fact several attendances were way below the break-even mark … and that is the *main* reason why the big earners had to go. In fact a couple were already getting over the hill by that stage.

Now, HDE could have gone out to get more investment , and that’s the difficult bit I fail to understand … why didn’t he? Maybe because he wanted to run the show himself and that – of course – only adds to the arguments against HDE.

But what with the North Stand fiasco and the club in deficit, he did face a difficulty which he tried to sort out in the way that he thought best. But it wasn’t good enough.

PP: ” … but Doug also made himself the first paid chairman in football, and was also using money to prop up his ailing holiday business, which was suffering from a poor economy, more so than Aston Villa..!!!”

The first paid football chairman? Yes, well maybe, but that was just after it was made legal for chairman to be paid as I recall and other chairman weren’t far behind.

As for shoring up his holiday business? I find that hard to believe for several reasons. I’d have to see hard evidence to believe that. Sorry, Paul.

Not saying that HDE didn’t do things as we’d like, but something like that would be difficult to get past the auditors *I’d imagine.

  274. James G,
I have a mooch at most of the blogs and apart from TVB they’ve all suffered, TBAR, when the takeover was mooted had hundreds of comments, lucky if they get a couple of dozen when its not match day.
    Jen,
At least the whole country will see what a laughing stock we are.
I think they want relegation rather than make the effort of finding the finance to support a Prem club and are going to make very, very severe cutbacks, but obviously not on the wages of Fox and Hollis.
    Mark,
Why would Garde not want someone who knows the basic structure of a football club ? It would virtually be observing and Garde would have the final say, so he’s happy with three clowns who have never kicked a ball in anger sharing his responsibilities ? c’mon, Tom Fox sharing his huge knowledge of football must be really something to behold, a blank page.

  275. Steamer- You have to watch the presser its his words heres the reported speech

    http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-boss-remi-garde-10808221?

JG- We don’t know mate maybe A: we cannot get rid of him B: Gabby has talked to Garde and shown willing C: gabby has just been injured/unfit and the rest is just handbags or D: the least likely for me use gabby or else.

The management at Lyon once tried to sell his captain and he told them how crucial he was and he would go first.

  276. Did a whole lot of digging today on garde, one statement which does not surprise me is he is very protective of his projects. That fits because when asked to take over the management at Lyon he refused as he was sorting out the Academy side and 2 years later when he did take the job he had all his players lined up ready to promote.

Garde also took them over when they had finished 6th place contrary to the he didn’t do well with a team used to winning the title. he then sold most the team brought through his lads and left after three years with a decent team in place that the next manager did well with but also praised Gardes work publicly.

If we lose him all we will have at villa is a bunch of prats, he is our best hope I am convinced of that of a quick return if the worst happens.

  277. I am in agreement with you MK,

That everything about Remi points to him being his own man, and doing things his way.

I get the impression, he will not sign players who are not fully committed, and he would rather work with what he has got. Maybe Gabby being frozen out, has taught him a lesson, and now he is at last fully fit, that he is now on board with what Remi is doing.

We also seem to be developing good young teams again, and getting results, so hopefully there will be some good prospects coming through.

  278. Yes PP we definitely have a few including a very decent young keeper. What missed by many is Garde has a great record with developing players. If Grealish sticks with him and takes it on board who knows.

  279. mk pp think you are talking shi te sorry but garde is nothing but a yes man for fox and the useless committee he asked for 5 players got none and stands it he is a spineless wan ker who has no ball s if he did he would demand players no matter what he did not pick black he was jus picked by fox another cheap option all garde is ther for is to do as fox and herr flick tell him if you cannot see that your eye site is worse than Stevie wonders i went to that meeting last week and never have i heard such a complete bunch of wan kers talk nothing but surrendering from start to finish and how fox admitted he had made a complete balls up with herr flick but never mind we dont givse a fu ck the club is finished small heath will be miles above them next season with a team that cost two weeks wages at villa park he is the guy we need Rowlett a real football guy there owner is in the blue brick but they are in a far better state than us wake up and see garde for what he is he is a spinless yes man if he had any sp unk in him he would speak out but he says nought

  280. PP; Have just tried to check my facts about chairmen/directors remuneration, and it would appear that it first became legally possible to do so under the Companies Act, 1985, superceded since by the CA 2006.

In other words, HDE started paying himself (I’d say) from 1985 or 1986, but in reality it was something that pretty well all business was taking on board. Indeed, their accountants would have said it’s a good idea, for the company’s finances, to do so.

  281. JohnD – Sherwood put his ego before his team. Tim moaned about his players because he wasn’t man enough to take responsibility . He wanted to avoid blame at the expense of team morale . Remi can’t come out and say cant succeed with the present crop because that would be waiving the white flag. The board have already done that , we don’t need the mgr doing it as well .

No doubt he’s disappointed as well but to go public on this would have a disastrous effect on the dressing room. As he says in the mail tonight

    FOOTBALL
    FOOTBALL NEWS
    ASTON VILLA FC
Read Remi Garde’s considerate January message

“Remi Garde is reluctant to whine about Aston Villa’s lack of reinforcements because he feels it sends out the wrong message to his squad.

Garde has overseen a mini revival with a five game unbeaten run in the Premier League and the FA Cup during January.

And although he is determined to make signings before Monday’s deadline, he is also keen to praise his existing players for their improvement.

The Villa boss insists he cannot question the collective attitudes of his players since the battling draw at Southampton in early December.”

Not a puppet but a decent man putting the team before his own ego .

  282. mk you ncan be rude as you like mate garde is just a front for fox and his mob that is as plain as day the way he accepts the sh ite with the committee he has no say whatso ever even GG was sent out on loan by herr flick garde had no say and he is the best midfield player at the club as my mates in Nottingham keep telling me he is just a yes man plain and simple gg was not brought by reily and fox so can go they are just a bunch of wan kers mate

  283. Remi Garde

There’s an awful tendency to assume that everyone is the same and that they’re all tarred with the same brush, as the brush-seller would tell you. 😉

As Jenny has stated Garde is of a different quality to Tim, and I’m sure that if he stays on he will be seen to have the kind of qualities a club like Aston Villa needs. He simply should have been brought in during the summer, but he wasn’t and we have to live with the situation.

  284. Sorry jenny
That last bit of your post states remi is foxs puppet, else he would walk out on him and leave fox to explain 4 managers inside a year, remi has the power but not using it

  285. Also meant to add
    Fixtures after soton
    Arsenal. Shameful
    Newcastle shameful
    West ham poor
    Sunderland shameful pathetic
    Norwich shameful disgraceful
Wycombe we found our level thank god for the fan at the bus
Leicester shameful first half we did improve
Wycombe replay thought Lambert was back
Wba not one decent save did we force of wba keeper pathetic attempt in all truth in a match we had to win
So fox protects remi in turn remi is foxs puppet

  286. Chairman’s Salaries – I’ve now got the proper picture, from the Guardian in 2006:

    http://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2006/aug/23/ellisrollsawayfromhisnice

In 1981 the FA relaxed its rule against directors being paid. To encourage greater professionalism, it agreed that one director could be paid at each club, provided he worked full-time. Martin Edwards at Manchester United was one of the first.

Villa maintained the restriction until 1984. So in the first two years after Ellis’s return he was not paid a salary – but Ellmanton Construction, of which he owned 70%, was paid “administration fees”: £20,500 in 1983 and £27,500 in 1984. No further clarification was offered, and a club spokesman this week was not able to recall what the payments were for.

The club’s constitution was changed in 1985 to allow one paid full-time director and Ellis became that man, his first salary £10,000. Ellmanton was also paid £30,000, again in administration fees. Ellis was paid £20,000 in 1986 and £30,000 the following year, while Ellmanton received £20,000 and then £10,000 in 1987, the last time the company was paid by Villa.

Ellis’s salary climbed steadily, cruising into six figures for the first time in 1992, the year of the Premier League breakaway. …

    ***************

It looks as though the CA 1985 allowed the salary payments from that year although there seems to have been a loophole before that. As I interpret it, at least.

  287. PP,

I see that payments were made to Ellmanton in 1983-87 and must be the payments you alluded to.

It would be nice to know more about those, but in the context of his salary from 1992, those payments were small beer I’d say.

  288. D’OR
Apologies for not meeting up for a Tot or three, I’d promised the missus a football free couple of days, although did take her to Murrays to watch the Stoke v Scouse cup game.
On Garde, the way I see it , we were shite before he took over, but still had the time to turn it around and survive, but the performances and results on the whole have been poor and ultimately he will have been in charge for 3/4 of the season and will have taken us down. Yes he is working under a regime of bell ends and chancers and the players have been poor and I accept he didn’t build this squad, but and its a big but, I feel he has got it wrong far too often and we don’t look like winning football matches. In our position 0-0 means fuck all. When he arrived we were 4 pts from safety, now we are so far adrift we may even get in the championship play offs!!!!!
The list of what is wrong at this football club, is long and extends way further than Garde, I actually think they are trying to get relegated, in order to cut wages/running costs whilst pocketing the parachute payments before walking away. But Garde hasn’t improved the side enough and one league win since he took over in Nov given some of the shite we have faced is appalling, his persistence with crap like Hutton/Guzan/Westwood etc has baffled and if he isn’t getting his transfer targets why isn’t he making more waves

  289. Fox’s puppet or a decent leader – whose not prepared to jump ship but instead see it through and keep his players morale up. its hue you choose to interpret it JamesG. I don’t see how walking out is going to help anyone – it certainly won’t get Fox the sack and it will make Remi look like a quitter.

Listening to Tom Ross and Ian Taylor’s Monday show , the chairman said that the new players hadn’t been made to feel welcome – whatever that means 🙂 (by the other players , Sherwood and KMac ? )
Remembrr the Christmas vid with the players in bits when Gabby was given a French dictionary as a Christmas present . I said at the time it was strange that Micah and Jolyn as new players were on it but none of the French players. Note it was withdrawn as quick as it appeared on Twitter.

Remi has also stopped them arguing in the dressing room on match days according to the Mirror in an attempt to build team spirit . He’s doing everything to unite a fragmented unsettled squad , he has to back them publicly otherwise we are in another Sherwood situation of a demoralised squad that even the manager doesn’t have faith in .

Yes we’d all like new recruits, I’m damn sure Remi would , but moaning to the press solves nothing , as does doing a MON walk out . That’s the cowardly route . Maybe he feels he owes it to the players that are working hard for him .

  290. Rhodes to Middlesborough – 9.5m
    Loic to Leicester – 9m
    Benny Hill to Villa
The situation has gone beyond a joke, not one player wants anything to do with once proud Aston Villa. The entire club is toxic and all Lerner can do is hide away in the USA while we descend the leagues. It really is beyond serious now, the players must be devoid of belief after the farcical non – events of the past month. Seriously, if you give a monkeys about Villa boycott the Man City game, even better, boycott the rest of the season, let Lerner know that we want action and are prepared to let his investment go down the pan if he doesn’t lower the price. Surely 50m is better than zilch, i doubt VP would fetch that much.
Disappointed that our fan base which is extremely wealthy hasn’t put any ideas on the table, consortiums, re-flotation etc, even the Adams mob would be preferable to this abomination.
As i said earlier a crowd of 20,000 or less on TV with the Trinity half shut will shock these toerags and everyone in football, Fox is secure in his job, but we must target him and Hollis and eventually they may crack, get this scum out of our club now. Do i think it will happen, nah, blood like gnats piss.

  291. If the AVST wasn’t so busy crawling around Hollis and Fox they could organize demo’s and formal protests but they’re either too gutless, think Lerner’s doing a good job or don’t wish to prejudice their access to their good friend ‘Tom.’ These clowns are as bad as Lerner, the enemy within.

  292. hi gaz nice post and every word spot on mate the happy clappers of today have no balls and dont give a toss they are happy to watch and happy clap the dross as for garde as i say he is only a yes man for fox and co has no balls and comes up with scabby as the new striker if this is not herr flick forcing him to say it i dont know what is went last week and spoke to captain manering what a wan ker and fox is a lunatic as he believes he is doing a great job this committee and garde and nzog need locking in a room with all the old steamers that are left for half an houre would be like the old days gaz thats the only way any sence would be knocked into them

  293. jenny
mon was no coward ,if you are working on a contract with x and y promised [remember mon won his constructive dismissal case v lerner] and you don t get it would you stay. mon saw what a creeping crawling[cup final]wanker that lerner is
and as i pointed our worst performances this season all come under remi, plus he had chance at start of january to demand players ,no way fox could went to lerner and said we need another new manager
the entire club stinks hollis another stooge, taking money for doing lerner dirty work ,all fans that have club at heart should stand outside tomorrow show the world what prickS LERNER FOX HOLLIS REILLY ALSTAD really are and do you want any of them involved in your business ,

  294. new players not been made welcome new chairman hasnt a scooby
bunn how long before remi dropped the clown
    sarky young keeper
amavi couldnt understand sherwood dropping him really big miss with injury
ilor never made appearance remi shipped him out yet played hutton every match
crespo same as above sherwood played him
lescott played most matches under both managers
    richards same as above
    gana same as above
vertout sherwood didnt pick him to often ,yet remi has dropped him as well would townsend for a few pound more not been better
traore injured for sherwood ,remi would nt start him even bad with bad run
rudi both picked him even when kozak was fit remi still didnt drop him
sinclair sherwood didn t want him both have played him

  295. Another excellent assessment of the situation Jen

Thank you JL for your research on HDE….It does show quite clearly that he was taking money from the club FOR MANY YEARS.

  296. Now people we haven’t seen the Villa’s books yet or heard much at all about our money situation but I’m betting we are struggling to keep under the wage FFP constraints just like Sunderland. came across this on TVB , I do not think we are dealing with the real facts.

Would love to take my neice and sister to villa park but not while this lot are still here. really like Garde and what he stands for God help him but I’m sure he knows where we are money wise.

    http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/sunderland-afc-transfers-financial-fair-10798738

  297. Is this also what hollis meant about Lerner paying out £25 mil?

A club CAN increase their wage budget by more than £4million from player sales and also commercial/sponsorship deals, match-day income and UEFA prize distributions.

Essentially any money made from the following ways can be added on to the £4million to give you a total amount of increase you can have that season to last.

  298. Thanks MK for both articles, the figures and information about how the finances have been set up are very enlightening.

Lerner has basically lost at least 20% of his personal wealth at the end the day, unless there is a major turn around in the club’s fortunes.

This is what happens when you do not have proper controls in place, and this is only just happening now.

His failings to increase prices in the successful days, and failings to use a lucrative sponsorship deal at the same time, which in turn would have helped finance some of the transfers, have cost the club dearly.

  299. PP:

I was certainly never arguing about the issue of how much Ellis took out of the club, my original remarks were directed at what Morley said, which was very much slanted to his personal gripes. What we tend to do (because of our prejudice against HDE) is to hang on to an “immortal’s” comments as though they’re full of wisdom – which they’re not. They may have glimmers of truth in them but the full truth, no. HDE attitude was nothing different to many in business – there are not that many exceptions … especially in this last two or three decades.

So why we expected Lerner to be so much better I’m not sure. I would agree with Steamer that his selection by HDE has only proved to exacerbate Villa’s problem, but how many really good football club managements can you see in the Prem? Precious few, i.m.o.

  300. 17,000 tickets sold + 5,000 Man City, this for an attractive FA cup game, about time people realised the damage these cowboys are doing.

When you look at the contracts that Fox has given you have to conclude that he’s ignorant or stupid or both, he’s wasted millions yet remains in his job, Faulkner was dire but 100% better than this idiot.

  301. Steamer
Those figures show we are NOT a big club, 22-25k for a home game against Man City who are bringing 5k is beyond embarassing. Boycotting games does nothing except portray us as fickle wankers, it’s not about being happy clappers( a term I hate), it’s about showing we are bigger than the cunts ruining the club. We need an organised boycott where no-one turns up for a live TV game, simply not turning up weekly makes us less attractive to any prospective purchaser and shows us up to be a club no better than blues , if they go up they will get bigger crowds than us, when was the last time that happened????? I’d rather go bump than see a shift in power to those bastards and us languishing in the lower leagues whilst they earn 100s of Millions of pounds in the top flight. All Villa do at the minute is pour misery on its once loyal fans, I really hope Fox, Lerner, Hollis, Almstad, Rielly fuck off asap but it seems they are here for the foreseeable and that means the club will die.

  302. Wish I could find more info on our accounts but I don’t think we will see them until sometime in feb.
This article hints that last tax 2014/15 will be a greater loss than the previous but not by much, this season we a have sold players but also as usual some went for nothing which has been our worst aspect of the business. Add to that paying off Timbo and then employing remi you can see why the hapless Fox was so happy to announce other aspects of the business were making more money. Our wage bill in this season is 65Mil or there about (thats the figure I’ve found) if our income is about 117m as last season may be slightly more thats a wage bill thats 76% of turnover and hence falls foul of FFP.

Is this why we are reluctant to spend and increase the wage? especially as we were trying to shift big earners Gabby and nzogbia. Have Our idiots at the top done it again and hence have no leverage? without lerner putting in his own money they can only have £4m extra per season if earnings keep up, looks way over to me possibly due to the dross we never seem to be able to shift. also explains so many Loans out, thats classed as income.

what the consequences of this are if we drop are I’m not sure yet but it may be that the extra money wouldn’t cover the Fines from FFPif we didn’t and spent? I don’t think we are the only club by the way that could get nailed.

Its a theory but seems to fit with the goings on and Gardes less than worried outlook.

    http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-find-out-how-9525575

  303. MK
We will be bust and in league2 within 5 years under these scumbags. I see our under Armour kit deal money is dependant on what league we are in, ie relegation means they won’t be paying us much w hen we drop, another master stroke from fox, and this is supposed to be his forte. If only these scum bags had the honour of the Samurai, I reckon we would pack VP to watch these bastards run themselves through with a blade

  304. Just to make it clear , no ones happy and no ones clapping. It’s easy to criticise but unless you can come up with a better alternative to Guarde then calling for him to walk out at this stage of the season is pointless . Who are you going to get to replace him and what are they going to do with this mis matched squad . Remi was brought in because the French players weren’t welcomed and he is trying to integrate them.

Having just listened to Steve Hollis’s interview witghTom Ross ait’s clear that he’s here to cut more costs and prepare for relegation (by more cost cutting). “I can’t recommend to the owner writing a big cheque ….don’t forget we spent 60 million in the summer.” How patronising , how misleading . No we didn’t spend 60 million we sold our two best players and didn’t replace them. As an accountant he seems to have conveniently hidden the difference between net spend and gross spend . How foolish we were to think we were going to get a footballing man to the board . He’s a KPMG accountant with one purpose and it’s got nothing to do with football . Randy Leener has lost 20 million due to his own ineptitude . We have lost our football club through no fault of ours . Supporters have spent hundreds , travelled miles going to watch our club crumble . How dare our chairman accountant laugh when asked if they are going to spend money to give us hope of staying up . When the transfer window shuts and we haven’t signed any players “because the model is wrong ” time to show our collective face as the villa supporters . Boycott the games – spend no money on Fox’s brand villa and send these clowns packing . I feel sorry for Remi Guarde – I hope he stays and assembles his team for the championship but as far as I’m concerned , the season has ended for villa fans . Our board have thrown in the towel because they don’t understand that football is about winning and if we are going to be called customers we will act like them and vote with our collective feet.

  305. That’s excellent Jenny.
    B62,
The thing about boycotting VP is that Lerner is FINISHED, he won’t spend another penny, so therefore the club is also finished, that means that your just putting money into Lerners pocket. A boycott will see the twat panic at the thought of losing 70-80% of his investment and he’ll lower the price, IMO. We have to realise that while he and his stooges remain then AVFC will die a painful death.
I hope the customers don’t give the team any welly after City have wiped the floor with us, instead i suggest that, for once, they actually target the vermin responsible for the current situation and i don’t mean Remi, Don’t let up with the abuse of Fox, Hollis and Lerner, Fox is made of jelly just like his master who will be hiding away in the mansion that daddies money bought, my contempt for this pathetic moron couldn’t be any greater.

  306. Steamer
    Well put
    Jenny
My point on remi walking would be heaping more pressure on fox,how could he get another job haven gone threw 4 managers in one year, fox would be finished career wise ,that’s why I think remi had more power than any previous manager and should demanded players
And by the way debauchy will cost between 2.5 and 3 m for 15 matches only villa would agree to that for a fullback

  307. Jen
Hollis is a white collar criminal, he is here to wring every last penny out of the club for Lerner, he is NOT here for any footballing reason or to assist Garde.
Garde is trying his best under extremely difficult circumstances, the results aren’t good enough though and that’s why we are going down. TS left in October , are we really saying 3/4 of a season isn’t long enough to turn it round and survive?? Especially when we played some other really poor sides, out of form or injury hit.! I’m not saying sack him( I don’t think he was the right choice TBF) right now, but if we end the season with only 1 win under his leadership, does that really qualify him to try and get us back up? Do we really believe he will be able to oversee a promotion push in a very competitive league? I’m not so sure, I think we will be having similar conversations this time next season when we are trying to stay up in the championship.
This squad needs ripping up, it’s crap full stop , I still believe we shouldn’t be rooted to the bottom tho and it should be a closer run thing

  308. JamesG – I see where you’re coming from now . I never fell for the Fox PR bullshit but it seems Lerner did . These smooth operators go from company to company and one failure to the next because what has got them where they are is their ability to blame others and come out with rubbish like “shirt sales are up”. Now he has another “businessman” to back him up and say “not our fault it’s the model”!!

  309. Not forgetting the “false narrative” comments aimed at the fans – backing Lambert and inviting his new BFF Timbo to watch the game at VP when Lambert was still employed. Talk about hypocritical and indecent . What sort of leader gets the new guy to show up at work when the one heading for the chop is still there . Brazenly parading the “new wife” in front of the “old one”.

  310. I agree Steamer . The players on the pitch are the fall guys ( albeit well paid ones)
Instead of getting supporters a bad name and allowing attention to be deflected from the board , just don’t turn up at VP and when the game is televised maybe the empty seats will tell them “the customers ” aren’t going to be made fools of any more .

  311. Iv’e been watching pro footy since 1962 and i’ve never seen such a shambles of a club as AVFC, even Bradford PA who went bump after dubious dealings could show us how to run a club. When you consider all the attributes that Villa have, just how is it possible to be so bad ? No leadership, bad appointments, wasted money all because Lerner wouldn’t do the obvious and appoint someone who knew football admin. The quality of our employees is deplorable, rewarded for failure with the compo reaching huge levels. What scares me is if in the unlikely event Villa survive his ownership that Lerner will sell to another American and that is 99% certain.

  312. B62 – agree with you on SH but I want to give Remi a chance . He’s decent , straight talking and shows good leadership qualities . Whether that’s enough I can’t say until he’s had chance to bring his own players in . We’ve seen some improvement – four or unbeaten , not enough when you’re in R zone and better football . As God tweeted recently , thank you Remi Guarde for getting AV to play better passing football.

  313. No other fans have been treated as bad as villians under Ellis destroying league,European cup winners to relegation, to Lerner’s crap which is going to end up with at least one demotion ( don’t be surprised next season we do it again), commentators say we are fickle bloody miracle we can sell 17000 tickets for today
Man city probably suffered but thanks again deadly( he wouldn’t sell to mansour said they would be bad owners) They got agureo we got Bowery,at least they are happy now
West ham another to go club suffered but look at what good owners can do new stadium, manager bilic I like they got payet Reilly got us ilor and crespo
Is it any wonder villa fans are upset

  314. Without sounding melodramatic, I really believe we are not only witnessing the demise of our club , but the death of it. Anyone who believes we will be a force or challenge in the championship next season , needs to give their heads a wobble. We need 1 GK, 1FB, 2Mid, 2Strikers as a minimum , whilst offloading Gestede, Gana, Hutton, Guzan, Kozak, Bennett, Nzogbia, Westwood, Sanchez, Gabby
Ayew has already stated he doesn’t want to play in the lower leagues, so he will be off, Veretout may go back to France /continent.
It’s going to be a turbulent few years, which could see us drop to lg1 before any sort of comeback. Relegation ( which is a certainty ) will have set us back 10-15years ( that’s how long it will take us to get back on par with the likes of Stoke, Saints etc ) and that’s being optimistic, the way these bell em
DNS are going we may even fold

  315. Ayew scored 4 goals from good efforts but no tap ins didn’t score first ten hasn’t scored in 7 he just put in some effort, and that’s our biggest problem Sanchez came in gil Sinclair all came into Lambert crap team looked good but so would anyone Lambert destroyed the team with his signings plus contract extension Hutton Gabby abled by the biggest knob ever in fox
Agree total clear out needed but Sherwood told fox Reilly alstad that last summer what did he get no keeper talk to begovic ends up with clown first choice, striker talkswith Addy ends up with rudi as first choice backed up by captain fantastic Gabby,me thinks Sherwood dealt bad deal by buddy fox

  316. Remi and the current players are along with the fans , Aston Villa

he is the first manager in a while that i like everything about how he goes about his job

the club is a mess and where we are has been a long time in the making

I want us to win regardless of all these things and hope remi continues to improve these lads and is able to shuffle the pack before deadline

i hear he is after 5 and hopeful of 3 , and the roma striker has a loan to buy which is good intensive for a good player to come and attempt the unthinkable for us

  317. B6,
Your nearer the mark than you think mate, enjoy the game because you won’t be watching many more at VP and your nipper certainly won’t. How many folk at VP actually care about the club ? Lerner has destroyed any connection between the club and the customers and when he gets his $$ back he’ll administer the coup de grace.

  318. I think TS was dealt a shitty hand in the summer, he told the club who he wanted to keep, they all went he gave the club a list of targets, only Gestede was brought in ( he was meant to be back up), he asked for premiership experience and quality, again he got none. The way I see it Fox told him it was there players or none, so reluctantly he agreed, this is why they are saying he had final say.
Remi Garde was brought in to justify the clubs transfer policy, buying from the French league, only we didn’t have the luxury of being mid table and having time to build a legacy. He came in and needed an instance response, he didn’t get one or change things up much, and has only won 1 game since. We are relegated, the club have planned for it, they haven’t sold 1/2 ST, they are sacking a lot of the corporate staff, the Trinity upper will be closed for most matches next season, they have only taken 1/2 the allocation for away tickets so they don’t have to pay for any leftovers( despite the massive demand and they sell out weekly), no money spent in the jan window, no footballing chairman brought in only a money grabbing accountant, to ensure every penny is wrung dry from the club.
The football side of their ‘Business’ is a hinderance, they can’t see the bigger picture, they want big revenues in minimal spend, they don’t understand that success on the pitch brings the great rewards off it. Our only hope is Randy Lerner’s plane crashing, with Fox, Hollis, Almstad , Reilly and co on board.

  319. mark reading the financial article you posted earlier it seems we keep employing backroom management staff
we are owned by various companies and Randy has spent a lot of his own personal cash but also is drip feeding himself millions from the club via the complex setup of ownership and loans for his outlay ——- correct me if i am wrong thou

nothing to lose today – would be a major boost to beat the billionaires

  320. Steamer
Luckily my son is too young to go to VP, by the time is old enough he won’t want to go, there’s a good chance we will be behind Albion and Blues locally, and nationally we are a joke , his generation will be lost to Man Utd etc, at the moment he is a 4th generation Villan, by the time he goes to school etc the Albion fans and Noses will be on lording it up over us, how am I supposed to keep him interested in a club everyone locally hates ( inc media), nationally are seen as a joke( again inc media). Banging on about 81/82 etc when he was born in 2014 isn’t gonna cut it. The match day experience is shit, especially for him he is too young to drink!!! The ground is half empty most weeks, it’s too big for us and another sign of what we once were and never will be again.
I’m gonna take him to non league

  321. Just texted my friend to see if he’s going today . He and his Dad have 130 years of villa support between them . His Dad 87 . 80 years of support . Andy goes without fail , season ticket holder 40 plus years and he’s not going today , even though he’s a ST holder. The attitude of the board has finally got to him. I never thought I’d see the day he’s miss a game , as he’s supported loyally for the last four seasons of dire football. This cup tie should be an exciting and big day on our calendar . This is not a product it is our history . As John L rightly points out in the leader – no apologies – no compassion and no respect for the fans .

  322. Plus putting Hutton on the bench another fox great decision, Hutton is worst ever footballer to turn out for villa, mark k you seen stats think it was Richard put up,we are on best defensive run in years and remi takes him back to squad clueless puppet garde

  323. JG its only cover and lets face it no debuchy yet.

Still think this a monumental F up on the management and Sherwoods part. Sherwood told them I want to keep benteke delph and cleverly and get rid of the rest pretty much. they took one look at his list which would of bancrupt the club and doubled the wage bill to get them and said here’s your list choose from these, plus those three scapered. Even so they were near their limits of what was affordable. when I see the figures I will make a judgement. The statements and non spending for a club about to lose 70 odd mill of income with 30 more to come does not add up unless we are brassic within the FFP rules.

Runtingz- what club needs loans to keep going? we do, and lerner has waived huge debt to his company in the millions. we would be under is my guess long ago. I don’t know what advantage this affords him to me it looks like non. when the home owner can’t pay the mortgage they foreclose so I don’t see us being able to pay him huge amounts of dept in the Champs

  324. Mark k
Lerner has been manipulate the figures for years don’t know how but he has,in last 5 years we have spent less than 35 m seen figures that where showing totally different than what Lerner is TV money season tickets all revenue is up spending down every club have wages

  325. Game over under 4mins, against an under strength City side, 2-0 now laughable really.
    MK
the mismanagement of finances are down to Lerner, Fox and Faulkner yet it’s us who suffer.
Can the last man out of VP please switch off the lights we are done.

  326. Iv just seen tweets of VP, my god it’s empty, half the Doug Ellis closed, upper trinity closed, Holte End empty and now the fans are streaming out. The club is capitulating , it breaks my heart to see it like this

  327. Well if he has JG he is even more useless than we think because its fucked beyond recognition.

Totally B62 but its been the football man in charge thats made it worse, all they do is employ people then give them X amount. the managers have been found wanting in there recruitment no matter the money, pearson and leicester have shown whats possible. They have turned to Riley as they don’t trust there own managerial picks then have actually found a decent club builder by luck. The stupid leading the blind could have done better

  328. Who is the decent club builder?? Garde?? Really ? 4-0 down at home , another shocking performance and disjointed selection, his only win has come from the palace keeper chucking it in his own net. You can’t compare Lyon to what goes on in the premier League, at that time PSG weren’t the force they are now and it’s a very poor league. I don’t get the love in for a manager that has the worst record out of all the jokers we’ve had since MoN. We are in a considerably worse position than when he took over. If he was English he would have been slated non stop, but because he is from the continent he gets a free pass. Yes the real culprits are those above him, but he isn’t helping with these non performances on the pitch. It’s now getting to the point where I hate Villa more than the Noses and Albion fans I know.
It’s like have a beautiful girlfriend who always looked classy and good, even when times got hard, only to wake up one morning to find she has put on 5 stone and has been shagging all your mates, you still can’t help loving the fit memory you have, but hate the reality of what they have become.!!!!!

  329. Mark k
Remi garde is everything John Doyle has been banging on about for weeks spineless clueless everything, reading on sky vidi printer we are shameful today again, but then again how could he be any good fox appointed him
Shame on vans who paid for that today we may do as steamer says just give up

  330. JG what team would you of put out in a hiding to nothing match? I’m not happy with the result but if you think we will beat city with their full squad available and half our team in then good luck. West ham game far more important.

  331. garde has shown today without any shadow of doubt what a complete wan ker he really is team just as bad as the sh ite he played against Norwich the last game i will ever attend whilst the useless frog and fox are here same old balls ups same sh ite played wrong positions again he has learnt nothing and villa are now 10 time worse than before this wan ker was allowed into villa park just look at the shower again today richards CH Hutton on the bench bacuna westwood all pub players why is gg not called back why where the kids not played why is garde and the committee allowed to sh ite on the happy clappers who deserve it for turning up any body who goes and give fox money deserves nothing we are 12 to 1 to win the championship next year should be 200 to1 but are only 8 to 1 to go down next year again looks a fantastic price if the frog and fox and his committee are still hear first game we played city and drew when it matterd team now 100 times worse has a chance to stay up when garde came now no chance down to this useless frog open your eyes and see this french lump of sh ite for what he is a yes man for fox full stop

  332. don’t know how garde keeps getting pelters
he has a poor squad and no backing – if he creates a new bomb squad at this stage there would be about 8 players left

its a real shame for garde having to work under these conditions be classy of him to do this job with integrity and balance that many wouldn’t and haven’t under better conditions

  333. more possession again today but without some quality the footballing progress gets a bit lost
Randy has left the club out to dry so improving the team is going to be difficult but not impossible so fingers crossed for a few additions – i think we will have more chance of loaning rather than buying the types that are good enough as who wants to sign for a club nailed on for relegation

  334. Runtings
Sherwood Took some abuse on here ,yet remi record is as bad ,our performance are getting worse if possible and he seems to be another stooge just here for the money guaranteed big pay off
To me remi should said either use get me players or I go,how could fox say to Lerner we need another manager 4 inside year
Sherwood did tell fox that Lambert’s squad was crap

  335. So Aggy is fit is he ? have a squint at the picture of him on the OS, rolls of fat and looks like the ‘before’ of a Slimfast ad, do me a favour Villa he must be at least three stones overweight.

  336. Runtingz- Remi gets pelters because people are fooling themselves that a team that was abysmal under TS would somehow be revived under a pulis, sam type. No hope we can’t scrape together 4 CH’s. Nobody can prove it so they lash out at him. This squad was so poorly put together its painful.
TS sacked himself, no bottle, He told everyone they were not his players what did he expect to happen? the sack thats what, he sat in that dugout for at least 5 games and sucked his thumb.

On an up side 2 of west hams midfield off injured and to be fair I did not rate them, thay were up against liverpoo reserve

  337. i really think that as we all know lerner is just fed up with his new toy aston villa and his only real crime is he is the worst judge of character i have ever seen he like the fans has been conned by his own stupidity in that he has hired people who all they have done is con the owner of the football club into thinking they could do a job for him and that has happened ever since he brought the club first by mon who just spent his money on shi te players and long contracts and overpaid all the players a lot more than they were worth
then he got Falkner who i dont think conned him he just did not know any thing about football as hiring mc cluless and reily and lambert proved .from there to Fox who is the biggest con man of all time he wormed his way into lerner with the promise of great commercial deals and sold him the bull sh ite about how he had done great things at arsenal when all he was was a fizzy pop salesman and how the way forward was to bring in herr flick to run the show who had done nothing previous
then fox and fox alone was conned by Sherwood and he took him on and set up this transfer committee to add to that fox appointed the now great captain manering and garde who all have to bow down to his way of doing things which he knows f all about so in summing up i do feel sorry for lerner has he has been conned by his own stupidity in believing complete con men for the last 9 years no wonder he has had enough he should contact the serious fraud squad
    Saturday, Jan 30 2016 10:33:57pm

  338. JD,

Love your comment. You have it spot on…..Ellis conned Lerner into buying a “great club” managed by our dear con man MON, on Ellis’s recommendation….

Now there is nothing left, except Remi, and a failing squad, with a huge task of trying to keep a few fans happy, but not for much longer…..

Shame, as the team at times looked good today, but need time, new players and a lot more support…

  339. I still have respect for Remi, and I know he will continue to do his best with honesty and integrity.

He cannot be blamed for the individual errors today, or the refereeing decisions.

We are struggling for players…we just do not have enough now….it is almost impossible to make any better use of the ones we have, unless someone uses a taiser on Nzogbia and a couple more….

  340. JD your a decent bloke at heart and you clearly love Villa as we all do. I can’t argue with much about your last post but Remi is not the problem and is certainly no yes man or a quitter. He knew what a pile of shit he was walking into and still did it. A bomb the size of Wales wouldn’t have pushed us up the table quicker we are that bad. If we got the lad from the sty in charge he would still face the same shite, He has never had to deal with the ego’s of prem players either. Have a read of this and tell me this is not an honest man doing the best he can with a huge turd.

    http://www.goal.com/en/news/1862/premier-league/2016/01/30/19837442/-?

  341. MK you make good points pn garde but he still playes the dross why where they played today infront of players who he has never given a chance to why is west wood played and GG loaned out why is guzan ever allowed to wear the shirt why is richards played CH the worst i have ever seen in my lifetime and why is Hutton a sub all these things just show you are supporting a complete fool if he knew any thing after 3 months it would be that the wan kers i have named should never were the shirt again yet he plays them over youngsters this is why he is a complete muppet and not he man for this job the team today was the worst it has ever been in my lifetime down to garde no one else picked the wan kers today except him he like fox needs and got rid of and quick as i have said he is a con man covering up for the other con men plain and simple is you cannot see that you are blind mate

  342. and that article MK is just bull sh ite he is a muppet for fox it is plain to see that is why he puts up with it the team has got worse since he came he is just as bad as Sherwood but Sherwood at least spoke out that he did not want all the sh ite that fox brought

  343. I did write a long rant after yesterday’s debacle, but my iPad wouldn’t let me submit it and kicked me out of the site meaning it was lost, prob just as well really.
The performance and team selection yesterday was shocking, it lacked balance, threat, spirit, fight, composure and effort.
People ask why Garde gets pelters, well basically the same reason Sherwood did, his team selections are baffling , his tactics are poor, he doesn’t set up to win he goes for solidity and hopes we can nick something( Mcleish !!). His record is the poorest of all our gaffers, yet he gets an easy ride because he is continental and the twats above him are disgusting individuls hell bent on running the club into the ground.
But Garde is showing he doesn’t have the appetite or knowledge for this job, why is Gardner getting rave reviews at a Forest yet we play Gana/Westwood/Sanchez all of which are dogshit, why was Guzan put in goal, Bunn has had half the season off surely as a keeper he can play 3 games in a week?
Why are Gabby, Hutton etc anywhere near the first team, why not try the promising youth players?
Why don’t we set up to attack, Ever? Attacking seems to be a dirty philosophy under the Frenchman , we don’t go forwards with purpose or set up to actually win a game, which is prob why we never do. Why is Richards still pling in the middle and not full back .
I get this isn’t his team, but I expected better, he came in beginning of Nov, after TS was sacked in October, he will have been in charge for 3/4 of the season and will be the man that relegates us( we were 4 pts away from safety, we are now 11 inc -GD), he wasted the oppotunitinty of beating those around us by not attacking, what has he done to merit over seeing our promotion push next season?? The tactics and how he sets the team up won’t work next season in the championship, just like they aren’t this season. What is going on at Villa is heart breaking and criminal, Lerner, Fox, the board/committee are killing the club, but Garde certainly isn’t covering himself in glory, his pressers are coming across as pure bollox. The remainder of the season are a job interview for Garde, his staff and a lot of these players, they simply have to improve or they can fuck off, simples.
    MK
Would you still back Garde , if after these final few games, we get to the end of the season and Farde still hasn’t won away, and only won once, and that was down to the palace keeper chucking it in his own net???
Would his awful record still be enough for you? Would you be happy with him overseeing the promotion push and being in charge of recruiting his own players in a league that is tough, physical , a slog and unforgiving, a league like nothing on the continent or that he will have played or or have any knowledge of whatsoever?

  344. Every manager has his own characteristics and these ‘tend’ to be repeated wherever they go.
Mourinho has a formula which he immediately applies and he picks his players to fit this formula. He knows how to motivate these players and this can bring quite quick results. After 2-4 years either he gets bored or the players start to see through him, the results start to suffer and he moves on.
Pulis and Allardyce. . . well we know the style they employ. It doesn’t thrill but generally brings lower/ mid table security until the fans rebel against the lack of ambition and entertainment value and they move on to the next struggling team.
Then there’s someone like Ferguson who developed his squad and playing style and we all know the success that his style brought. All credit has to go to the directors of Man Utd though who saw through the early poor results and recognised that given time he would come good. If they’d been as shallow and shirt termist as most fans they would have sacked him in his first, second, third or fourth seasons when the results were poor. Remember that in his first season, from when he joined in the October he only achieved one away win in the whole season. In his fourth season of ‘failure’ the fans brought banners into the ground calling for his head. Would the Villa board (and fans) have recognised that he needed time to build a squad and playing style that would bring ‘decades’ of success?
It’s far too soon to judge what type of manager Remi Garde is. Anyone who ‘knows’ that he is useless or ‘knows’ that he is guaranteed to succeed in time is a fool and deserves ridicule. All we do know at this stage is that at Lyon he steadily and methodically built a squad and playing style from the youth upwards that stood the club in good stead even when the directors stripped it of their best (and most expensive) players. My personal ‘opinion’ is that, given time, he will bring similar success to Villa. It won’t be quick because he won’t be given the funds to go out and buy the players he would ideally like. As at Lyon he has to build up from the youth base of the club. That takes time.
You could have made a case from replacing Sherwood with a Pearson type figure who’s immediately motivating style can bring quick results. He may have saved us this season and then bring in a manager like Remi Garde for the long term. Now he’s here I hope the fans and directors give him the time needed to see if he can repeat what he’s done before and start the rebuilding that every Villa fan is praying for and paying for!

  345. B6,
Pretty sure that Garde will go at the end of the season, no-one deserves this club as it is. who will replace him God only knows.
Rather than give the fat parasite a testimonial the club should pay for two courses of liposuction, one isn’t enough. 99% KFC, when he dies they’ll coat him in barbeque sauce and grill him rather than cremate him.
    JD,
Bang on about Fox, conman. Lerner has a reputation as a dummy, remember when he was taken for 50m ? he got it back in court later but it shows what a plank he is.
Agree about Richards at CH, clueless.
The team yesterday was selected with Tuesday in mind, Lescott & Okore can’t manage two games in a short period.
At least Sinclair is helping to cut costs, they don’t have to launder his kit after games.

  346. RoBBo,
At least you can’t get booed in an empty ground.
We all have our own opinions about managers, for instance i couldn’t stand Saunders or Mr 10% as he was known, i think Garde would have been a great boss for us given normal circumstances but this club has a death wish, cheers Herb.

  347. Robbo
Whilst I agree with the sentiment of your post and agree we can’t say if Garde will or won’t be a long term success, I don’t think we can compare the situation with that of Manchester United and SAF. Times have changed, Man Utd were never in danger of relegation, never went on such a run where they only won one game ensuring they were dropping out of the top flight at a time that the influx of revenue was at an all time high. The board at United have been a lot quicker to remove the manager in these times, Moyes went, LVG is a dead man walking, Fergie was a unique case and won’t ever be repeated again.
I have no confidence Garde can stop the rot, yesterday’s attendance will be the norm next season unless we are playing Blues, Wolves, Leeds etc .
The club closed the entire trinity rd upper and half the Doug Ellis yesterday, the fate was bolstered by City having both the upper and lower North stand. It was beyond appalling, but you can’t blame fans for not wanting to go and watch a certain defeat, yet again. The team will struggle to stay up next season, we are 12/1 to win the championship, yet only 8/1 to get relegated from it! It’s a sad indictment of how badly this club is run, how embarassing that Blues could take our place in the top flight, receive £120m and fly the flag for premier league football for the second city, I garuntee they will get bigger crowds than a struggling Villa, mainly because of who they will be playing, God help us if they invest wisely.
Relegation gas put us 10-15 years behind the clubs in the PL , we will be in the wilderness like Leeds, Forest etc for a very long time .

  348. Mate of mine took his grandkids yesterday or their first game 6 & 8, they were hassled by some scummy stewards, had to open their coats in case they’d smuggled some AK27’s into Vacuum Park, they’d have been better employed enforcing the regulations with the Man City fans standing, oh, you need knackers to do that, anyway thats another five customers lost.

  349. Rumours –
Looner looking to sell Vacuum Park and BH and leasing them back. The council should immediately put an order on VP as a building of historical interest, forbid its sale and send out a team of hitmen to eliminate Loony.
Also signing the Roma bloke on loan.

  350. B6,
Looks like it, the only good thing is it makes Fox and co look even bigger knobs. Wonder who the next victim will be, bet they’re searching the asylums at this very moment.
We’re finished i tells ya, a dead parrot.

  351. Another desperate ref falls for a dive by Sterling, they miss (ignore) a smash to the face and give a pen for falling over a blade of grass, football really is crooked.

  352. Morning all

First off would I keep garde and I don’t think we will be on 1 win under him. Why would I keep him?
Because if we do not I dread to see what will walk through that door at BMH, granted it could be the saviour but with these tossers in charge they won’t get lucky twice. We are watching the squad employed by TS and the board, anyone fancy another round of that? I absolutely believe that if garde was in place after the cup final we would 1000% not be in this shit.

Now Tim is being bigged up because his records no worse than gardes, well this is the man that brought Richards in at CH a gamble at best, city didn’t want him, injury prone and loaned out to Sampadoria? why not the prem? because he’s a liability and city got a real RB. TS promised him A CH spot to get to the euro’s what a joke.
TS further promised Gana a DM an attacking role because Tim can play people anywhere, err nope. Tim gambled on his old saluting buddy to rescue him, well how did that go? turns out he could not give a fuck about Tim and football, That was Tims banker FFS. Delph and Cleverly loved playing under Tim obviously not that much then? benteke? Tim had made him a feared striker again, Not according to tekkers who said he just recovered from injury. What we had there was an egotistical fuckwit building the squad on a huge scale and it was beyond him but also beyond Riley who lets face it only presents decent prospects to the manager. Tim then showed his tactical nous by beating Bournemouth at the Alimo and then crying like a baby because he could not work out how to integrate the players into a team.

Well Garde has found a team, it might not be all conquering and goal shy ( nothing new there, its been the same for 4 seasons without Tekkers) But when he puts the 1st 11 out we don’t look shite but we cannot score. Garde has been given no chance of recruiting to change that how the feck can he be judged? He changes a few players for the FA cup and gets beat so what? it is a waste of time and gives more chances for injury and suspension, we cannot afford that. Lescott plays with his knee taped up and Okores swell up when he plays games to close together.

Its one thing saying we should Attack non stop its another thing to get a group of confidence drained and excuses for professional footballers to implement that. Basing the sacking of garde on his performance with this lot is a joke. If he is struggling its in bringing 2 sets of players together that have become mistrustful of each other, black I think is an attempt to cure that.

  353. B62
Agree with you on all, read moxley in people today really gave to garde( he is sensible yet colourless character and his team displayed his features no emotion much more)
    John Doyle
Guzan Westwood if they were horses they would be shot
Gabby is a disgrace and if garde is picking him by his choice he garde stupider than fox and rest knobs running villa
Hutton should never get a villa shirt ever again granny could play better him she dead for 20 years
    Mark k
You are defending garde at every chance but do you not agree he might have power none ( Sherwood Lambert) ever had if he had said I need 5 players we don’t get them I am out here, fox would have to go to Lerner having given out 9/10 year contracts to manage villa in just over a year

  354. Steamer
Is villa park not a listed building
    Mark k
Remi garde villa had over 50 percent possession last 10 matches won 2 beat Wycombe in replay , beat pal when keeper chucked one in most the rest games noreal efforts on goal as moxley said never tried to change it to match was lost

  355. B-62 Remi’s comments indicate he is still trying to keep us up and is just doing his job, he ahas always said he will be here whatever unless he is not wanted. The last thing we need at this club is another witch hunt. We all know the board are to blame we should target them, If they actually trust in Garde it would be the best scenario in a crap position because it looks like these morons are staying.

  356. JG possession means nothing if we don’t score that has been the same for 4 years, we had no possession football under Lambert, we had possession football under Lambert, the difference a goal scorer in benteke. Lamberts squad was built to counter attack but could not defend, Tim pretty much similar last season I could not tell you what he was up to this one.
Garde is building it properly with a defence and solid midfield just as Sam or pullis would we just do not have the forwards to play counter attack any more Tim sold them. Keeping possession and hoping to nick a win is pretty much all this lot are good forbut without better players in and around the opposition box we won’t score simple as.

  357. B62, in Ferguson’s fourth season at United, between November 89 and February 90 they went 11 games without a win and in that time picked up only 5 points. Their results in the first ten games of the season plus a late season flurry enabled them to finish the season in 13th place.
Remember this was in his fourth season though and you can imagine (and may remember) the reaction of the fans at that time. Through January, as their winless period extended into double figures they really were starting to look like relegation candidates so The United board really do deserve credit for sticking with him at that point.

  358. Going by one Sunday papers garde has stated he will stay to end of season just
Why are fox Reilly still employed big money signings last summer are looking worse every week if possible
Gana who will want him in summer
Vertout looks good in flashes mind you they few and far between
Traore looks good but we hadn’t time for his potential to come good
Ayew few great goals but back to Sherwood form BBC hotspot camera he was Gabby like yesterday
Rudi scored few goals only really should be used as sub
    Reilly big failure

  359. Newcastle fans don’t like Ashley but you can see the businessman approach from him. He realises the risk in falling out of the premiership so invested in the summer and is investing again now. The latest rumours include a 20m+ investment in Berahino. Odds are Newcastle will stay up whilst our timid approach will see us relegated. I fear that Garde may go at the end of the season and it would be hard to blame him but if so, it would be the first time I’ve mourned the loss of a Villa manager for a long time. His statement that he will stay ‘to the end of the season’ is not encouraging.

  360. Robbo- I remember it well the fans were not happy and as it turns out knew nothing.

some of the speculation about Garde is getting beyond ridiculous but thats the age we live in.

  361. Mark k
To me garde staying will do more harm long term if possible, looks like he has been shafted with transfer policy, and as I put before football and business world are laughing at Lerner who is going to do business with a man that has recked two massive sports clubs in two different contiñtents
Same for fo who is going to employ ex fizzy pop salesman
Reilly Liverpool still suffering from his buys
So garde just for fañs Tuesday morning walkout, cause even a màgician couldn’t make a team out the crap calling themselves footballers
Guzan Hutton Richardson Richards Bennet Westwood zogg Gabby baker should be removed immediately

  362. I think Garde just put out a team yesterday, hoping it would give a reasonable account of itself, and was more concerned about the next two games, where he needs at least four, if not six points, to ensure Villa have a chance.

We were doing ok until Sterling made sure that he dived for another dubious penalty, and as everyone was saying around me, if it is a penalty, then Bacuna should have gone, if not, then it is not a penalty, and Sterling should have been booked instead, and by the resultant altercation after, the ref realised that he had made an error, as again Bacuna should have gone.

I am still going to back Garde for the rest of the season, and then I shall decide about my ST.

  363. Cant say i am baffled by anything Garde is doing myself — he is juggling a very poor squad and has rightly drawn the bomb squad line at zoggy alone
his methods are very clear to me but due to the lack of quality the attacking side is still lacking

defensively we are better than under the last bunch of managers

i still have no idea what sherwood or lamberts philosophy is or was

the only thing i would say for all the managers is that they have all worked under an owner with no ambition of bringing success

  364. James Gill. I’d probably say more about your last comment if I could work out just what your points are.
I don’t understand why you think Garde will do more harm than good.
Of the list of people you think we should get rid of hang Garde already: got rid of two of them (bennet and baker) ;tried to get rid of one more (Zog); possibly tried to get rid of Gabby; demoted three more (Richardson, Guzan and Hutton); moved Richards around, benched him and then away the armband; just leaving us to discuss the merits of Westwood who he doesn’t play in every game now.
Of your list, I don’t understand the level of abuse that Westwood comes in for from some quarters. He is quite tidy most of the time and rarely in the bottom third when the impartial player ratings come out in the media. He’s rarely a game changer for us, but he does a decent job.
In summary. . . . Garden seems to have done, or tried to do just about everything you’ve asked for with the players at his disposal. . . . what more do you want?

  365. JG Riley was a scout co-ordinator at Liverpool not in charge of buying anyone.

Put it like this if Pearson came in he would have the same constraint but quite likely fall out with the board ASAP and be off. Garde will do his best regardless and is a much more reasonable man and more likely to get the board on his side. Whats happening IMO in the transfer market is due to our position mostly. Yes the board are preparing for the likelihood of dropping by being Tight but what player worth his salt wants to join a club that looks doomed, is booed by its fans, has to put a relegation clause into the contract?

Now I’d assume the other struggling clubs are doing the same but if your wage is being halved by the summer you would go to the club that looks less likely to drop. garde has said he wants players that buy into the long term not just for money hence the Loan attempts rather than Buy. The fact we keep getting gazumped is testimony to players caring more about there wage than a project.

Summer will be different, if Remi stays he has to be backed simple as and I don’t think they want to lose him. If the failure to get players is the boards fault then he may say I cannot work like this but at this point we cannot say it 100% is.

  366. Bloody hell. . . on the latest iPhone you have to go back and proof read everything you’ve written because it ‘knows better than you do’ what you’re trying to type. . . . if it was that clever shouldn’t it by now have learned that when I type Garde it’s what I mean to type and not change it to garden (in some contexts but not in others)?
    Grrrrrrr

  367. PP- Garde has said he is managing players frailties, okore and lescott cannot play consecutive games, Kosak has a knock on his ankle Gestede injured. Whether he was resting them or not he had no choice. he could of gone with some youngsters he didn’t and has said the cup was important. So for me it was just injury management.

  368. Runtingz- it beats the shit out of mewhy people cannot see what garde has done and is doing, Its mostly panic setting in I think .

Robbo- under no circumstances turn on the dual id crap what a pain

  369. Villa are literally the biggest laughing stock in the league. The club is rotten from the core owners. Obnoxious owner, a dreadful board, awful manager and sub standard, mediocre players that, even worse, are playing like they don’t give a f@ck.

It’s been coming for years and when the inevitable relegation happens I can see Villa sinking into oblivion. Not only are we not good enough from the Premier League but we are not good enough for the championship.

We should have spent this transfer window buying players to build a squad to come back up. We should have got some top end championship players whilst still in the PL and got the name and given them a hence to keep us up.

As it is, and a reflection of the collection of idiots we have running this clubs, we have stupidly gone after players who will add little and leave at the end of the season or we have no chance in signing (Kallinic) and have once again wasted time on.

    Who’s to blame?
Lerner? Of course because we know he is an idiot and doesn’t care for the club.
The board? Of course because they’re decisions have been made on purely commercial decisions without actually understanding we are a football club first and actually need players to survive.
The manager(s)? Yes, because we have had a collection of managers who always seem to ignore the obvious problems and continue to either but the same old shite or ignore the positions we are weak in… We have needed a GK since Freidel left… Yet here we are with Guzan and Bunn!! Fucking lol!
The players? Yep… They just don’t care.
The fans? For me the biggest culprits are the season ticket holders and people still giving money to the club. All the talk of protests etc and these people have just quietly watched Villa slip into the night. Booing the players at half time is just ludicrous… They should have stopped going and made the biggest protest and stopped giving Villa they’re hard earned money so to watch the worst football ever at VP… Instead the people who purtain to live the club the most are probably the biggest reason why we are such a mess.

Thankfully I’ve stopped going to VP and in fact giving any money to AVFC PLC and I don’t miss it one bit.

  370. Ian- on the boycotting the club totally agree but unfortunately if we drop that would probably sink the club before these prats left, some might think that worth doing.

On buying players from the Champs, they will be cheaper in the summer and most want to come to the prem not vacate it by the back door as soon as they arrive. We would not get the top end players as they are targeting promotion at this point. The summer is the reset point were we will be either in the prem and can attract players or in the champs and attract the appropriate players for that all IMO of course.

on the keeper Kallinic, the Fa in its wisdom wanted to cut the success rate of appeals from 75% to 30%!!! they have met their quota so will not allow the purchase how fucking unfair is that? and considering we have been an ever present in this league and are in the shit you’d think some leniency would be forth coming but no we are not from the north west or london

  371. Robbi
Please show me something good Westwood has done, backwards ,sideways then back again he is one of reasons our possession stats are high but going nowhere crap player
Baker,Bennet where out on loan when remi came in
Guzan was only dropped after chewing gum row not after howler after howler all season
Richardson played v Wycombe told fans show me the money total wanker
Richards has been total disaster as mark k said yesterday no player disappointed me as much expected so much more
Zog yes he tried carrot and stick neither worked
On to flabby what does it say to youth team reserves, that the captain can take 3 months off come back heavier and remi still put him on
If remi stays he is another puppet in the villa sideshow

  372. ian agree on most of your post – except the current manager bit who again can’t be blamed for our current keepers or anyone else

another good point is how the fans have allowed randy to destroy the club without protest
for me the action should have started with the mcliesh appointment – couldn’t dream up a bigger insult to the fans – remember my mates crying with laughter about that

  373. Runtingz yes I think its to little to late, we either let these idiots rebuild with garde guiding them or get them out and rick the clubs demise financially.

On the rumours of asset stripping? what the hell would they sell villa park to become? has Birmingham now turned into the place to be? an up and coming destination for the rich and famous. Would they not also have to get building permission from the council? submit plans to make it saleable? has anyone seen these things? They have no choice but to rebuild and make the club saleable, garde may be the best chance of that for us judging by his work at Lyon.

  374. When I’m at a game I’m as emotional and irrational as any football fan and was pushed and told to sit down at the last game.
On here, away from the raised pulse rate of the game I try to be more rational and factual.
JG, on here you seem to show the same level of passion as I do at games. I can understand that, but it does make it difficult to have a rational discussion with you.
I can understand fan’s frustrations with Westwood but, for example, 80% or his passes are forward (I know that’s not how you see it but it’s true). He is good defensively and a safe pair of feet, with most of his passes not only going forwards, but also to one of his own players.
In your last comment you seem to violently disagree with me by actually agreeing that most of the players in your hit list are not actually playing.
Yes Gabby had a cameo appearance yesterday but do you think Garde will have him atrting for us in the game he thinks matters on Tuesday?
Bunn was dropped for Guzan yesterday but then so was England’s goalkeeper Hart left out.
Hey. . . . with the exception of Westwood, I’m agreeing with you that those players should not be starters for us in the league. . . . and they’re not! What’s your problem and how is Garde to blame?

  375. Mark – yeah agreed we should of boycotted years ago, now, as with everything it’s too late. It would kill us next season. I went to a few Forest games last season (company sponsors them) and they’re ground was half full at best… Terrible atmosphere!!

  376. Runtings, I agree to a point as they’re not his players but the formations he has played at times have been hugely questionable…

  377. Robbi
Westwood never has a 80 percent pass forward
Can’t remember which match recently I jotted down his passes more like 90 percent going back with his forward passes not leaving our half of field
Gabby if garde is his own man Gabby should never got on yesterday ahead of young reserve players

  378. I am not convinced with bunn at all, better at distribution than guzan but a safe pair of hands no. So far he has played without the chuckle brothers in front of him, i hop and pray we get a real keeper. Doumbia is also the type of player we totally lack and would enable us to move the ball forward quickly instead of our cross field snail pace.

  379. Robbi
Yes I am like I would be at match and not going to apologize for it villa my team and Lerner fox and co have wrecked my weekends for last 5 years and I hope for a real painful death for them

  380. Ian- If you think about Tim and Garde you have to say that if there’s a similarity its the formations can look questionable. You have to ask yourself is that the managers fault or players inability to fulfil their roles? take on tactical ideas. Unless Garde can find a plan unknown to football he cannot make this disjointed squad perform.

  381. And on gabby I don’t think Garde has had him pushed on him, he has realised that the likelihood is gabby isn’t going and that we may not get another striker in. Gabby is the only players we have with a semblance of real pace. garde won’t disregard anything that may help him and why should he, its not a popularity contest he needs to win and he won’t achieve that by being picky or decisive. he may have even decided getting gabby back on board might bring others back into the fold that may feel disgruntled. garde as always uses his brain in these matters, Eric black from all reports is well liked wherever he goes, I think he is another bonding tool for Garde as well as his other uses.

  382. I see Doumbia has snubbed Villa for Newcastle…

Can’t blame him really, sitting at the top of he pitch watching the shambles behind him that is the other 10 Villa players wouldn’t inspire me to want to play either… lol

  383. JG. Westwood has completed 739 passes this season. 84% were accurate and 80% were forward.
Source: Squawka. . . . as good a source as any.

  384. Reading through the comments, it’s clear Garde splits opinions on the job he is doing, that’s fine sites like this require opposing and differing points of view, which provokes discussion.
I’m not advocating the sack for Garde, more questioning why some feel he is doing a good job, and if they believe he will be here to oversee a promotion push.
For me I think he should have done better and must take responsibility for his role in our demise and relegation.
I do remember Fergie and the banners on the Stratford end, but this is a different era, United weren’t the dominant force they went on to become, that was Liverpool then. They gave him time because they could afford it, even though even he nearly used that up if the reported 1 game to save his job is true.
Lerner may not sell VP, but I wouldn’t put it past him to rename it and get sponsorship in, and sell off a decent portion of BMH to the re developers around the HS2 line. Unless we were going to build a new stadium no one would buy the stadium , unless they were going to put an extortionate rent in place.
The problem we have is the idiots that have killed the club are remaining for the duration, we will always struggle with this gaggle of fucktards running the show, next season will see an empty stadium, hardly any ST sales, Matchday revenue way down, merchandise way down, corporate way way down, sponsorship way down and the big one TV cash and premier league prize money gone.
No way will Lerner invest, and no way will we be able to rebuild, we will be left with the dross no one else wants, struggling to attract anyone with any quality.
Newcastle look to be building a decent squad which costs money, perhaps there using next seasons TV cash on top of what Ashley has pumped in, he will most likely reap the rewards, they will stay up and kick on next year, success on the pitch will bring riches off it, Lerner on the other hand is just a twat surrounded by more twats

  385. robbo MK west wood is not the worst footballer at VP but is simply not good enough he is not as crap as guzan hutton richardson but ain’t much better he is a player who offers nothing whatsoever to the team but then again all these frogs we have brought are useless as well not any where near the required standard and akll have been brought for at least double or treble in most cases what they are worth and all are getting double the wages they deserve the same as flabby scabby and nzog all down to non-football idiots in charge of recruitment as for you two licking gardes arse at every chance you get i canot belive you can see any thing good in him he is far worse than lambert in that he tries not to win and is as his record showes the worst we have ever had a complete boycott of villa park is the only answer any body who goes is just supporting fox and co so you will see no change ast now or see the club die for good

  386. Bit the bullet watched mofd run out of words to describe that and remi has to take the blame,he is manager for 3 months and team put out yesterday have played most matches
First goal do they not tell them before they start match who is picking up each player Fernando free run, guzan flapping like ball was hot ,
Second goal where are our defence, when you watch any other game their back 4 are together not scattered out like on stag party, why was Westwood last defender( he would had to play it forward if he had got it), plus ball went across 6 yard box guzan should been sweeping
Third goal what the fuck do they train at our deadballs, corners are brutal beyond belief, answer that remi, but gana passing ball back from there my god,but still what way were we defending arsenal all over again, nobody taking charge we ll all go up attack leave nobody back ,training ground again
Fourth goal, gana again,Clark put the ball out harms way ,guzan flapping nobody putting effort in to try mark their man
    What goes on at training

  387. Mark,
RE Flabby, not so much pace as a fairly quick wobble.
    JamesG,
We all thought the old Trinity Road was listed until the philistine reduced it to rubble. He’d emulsion over the Mona Lisa he’s that ignorant.
Must admit i’d sooner play with 10 than include Wastewood, causes the opposition no problems whatsoever, hate that type of player. There’s goalkeepers out there who score more goals.

Never known such a disheartened bunch of fans but they know for certain now that Lerner, Hollis and Fox are ripping the hear out of the club and yet they still go to VP, why ? do they enjoy being humiliated and seeing the club destroyed ?

  388. JG- short of hutton that team had richards clark and guzan all known to defend like idiots. Garde wanted to protect okore and lescott simple as, although he could of played Bunn it could of destroyed him mentally playing behind those 2 half wits. You go 2 down against city its game over.

  389. steamer 🙂 I have to say Westwood has annoyed me by getting into some good scoring positions lately. Annoyed you ask? annoyed because you know there’s not a chance in hell he will score. Another reason GG should be tried.

  390. Mark k
I watched Clark for Ireland two matches last autumn never poot foot wrong I was yards from touchline both matches kept a good eye on him partnered o Shea in one of them
    Steamer
Thanks thought read it before, but who would buy villa park of Lerner in fact who would do business with him

  391. gaz what you going to do now your fav dj in old Wogan has gone you were the mainstay of his TOGs
am sorry to see him go pitty was not fox Riley or her flick or captain Mannering as they would not be missed in fact if it was fox we could have a party

  392. I agree JG but when he plays with Richards no chance, problem for clark is Lescott holds that defence together in a way he doesn’t. Last season he looked decent with Okore but it was more physical effort and last ditch than commanding IMO

  393. Luciano, Capone & Gambino.
Did anyone watch MoTD ? just wondered if any of the pundits commented on the empty stands, anything that shows the owner in a bad light helps.
Talking of the owner/custodian, do you remember when he said that if he couldn’t take us forward he’d move over for someone who could ?

  394. You have to laugh at foreign clubs who employ British managers, ie Valencia & Neville, eight games without a win. Brits are tactically clueless and yet the Man rat was on TV pontificating about how teams do this and do that and in reality all he’s fit or is the EPL a joke lge.

  395. when I was a kid steamer I remember My dad laughing at tezza in the car and thinking what the fuck is this crap, role on 35 years and I get it, Is it me? 😉 I think if the whole world approached life with Terry wogans humour it wouldn’t be such a bad place he will be missed by me at least

  396. Sounds like remi might be off in summer then, annoyed by lack of investment. I like the man and no doubt he has a hard job but i do think he should never play hutton, guzan, westy, gabby or richards cb. And it annoys me we keep playing 433. Open up a bit and play 4231

    Bunn
    Bacuna okore lescott cissokho
    Richardson gana
    Gill Vertout. Grealish
    Ayew
Why not try that? Change it up and just go full throttle. Whats there to loose.

Better than seeing westy holding!!! Lol

He out of all them i hate the most. Just a pointless player who offers nothing in the most demading role on the pitch

  397. steamer how can the fans put up this it just gets worse and worse how can they not see the con men at the club who as i said have just conned lerner from the start and still are you can not blame lerner well i suppose you can for allowing him self to be talked bull shi te from fox as all this is in place down to fox what i cannot understand we have had our days of fighting and following a decent team as that what villa where when we to every game we would not have put up with this sh i te
but the fans of today who have only known sh ite shite and more sh ite have got used to it as the norm and that’s what’s wrong they have put up with this sh ite for so long they know no better sixth place with mon is the best they have seen so it is left to the likes of us who have seen truly great villa side with proper footballers in it to demand those days return and get these con men and non football people out of the club

  398. Several good points Andrew, IMO totally correct about Westwood he’s playing at least two divisions above his ability, five yard passes on the half way line aren’t much use.

  399. andrew was with you till you said Richardson dont you mean richards think he make holding mid feild player as is fu cing useless any where else and richardson was finished 4 years ago in fact even the crab is better

  400. JD,
Its so blindingly obvious that Fox hasn’t a clue that Lerner deserves to lose his money, He makes out he’s an expert but fucks up everything he does. He started off with the launching of AVTV which was a farce and its gone downhill since. Lerner can’t be receiving any info on the happenings at VP because even he would boot him, or would he ? But i have to say Fox is now more of a problem than Lerner who is at least hiding in his cupboard.
Folk are dropping off the blogs like flies, the customers will be next and AVFC will die of shame while these gobshites will walk away with millions.

  401. well for me it is now up to garde to either play the kids recall GG and the frogs as they all will be gone come easter when we are down play the kids regardless bome out the crap at least 7 of them and see how it goes as results do not matter now

  402. J,
I wouldn’t play the youngsters as you suggest, maybe with the exception of GG. I wouldn’t let the new intake off that lightly, I mean make them earn their wages rather than sit in the dug out doing Jack squat.
I think we have to run this season out and regroup for next season with a manager with the right experience and pedigree to get us out of the Championship, oh, and this is not me raising a white flag. Its me being realistic, two wins all season and we need another, what eight or ten……lets get real, is its not going to happen, would you put your mortgage on it??
If as reported RG is going to see it through until the end of the season, (his words) it seems to me he wont be around much after May,June. So back into the new manager syndrome, as I said someone with experience, I give you two names, Steve Bruce and Sean Dyche, either would come in a heartbeat. But we have to get right off the pitch first. Anyway thats me done, later Gentlemen

  403. Can’t believe the fat parasite was cheered on Saturday, he’s virtually peed on the shirt and these dummies cheer him, the modern football fan hasn’t got a clue, all Alan Hansen clones, impact sub, Makele role, blah, blah, BS, BS, mugs.
Now they’ve found a cyclist using a motor on her bike, after the Lance Armstrong fiasco, FIFA, Golf, Tennis, Snooker, Athletics etc i think its safe to assume that most sports are corrupt, why bother ?

  404. ‘fraid so mate, win at all costs, the rewards are so great. Its not the winning anymore, its what winning generates financially.
I don’t think I even like Football anymore. Have a game of golf, bowls or darts with your mates for a couple of quid, its far more honest and the sport and the craic is much better.

  405. forme only one guy if they aint gone up to take our place is Rowett its a no brainer built a team that’s in a play off place for the cost of what we pay scabby Richards and nzog for 2 months wages at the most go get him let him have complete control would pi ss the championship a guy with sense and knows what it takes in that league and as he has said many times a villa fans and it would piss them off big style at the sty hers hoping they don’t go up

  406. Am I the only one on here who finds it sickening that people are saying that they want people connected to Villa to die?
    Don’t bother telling me it’s a joke. It’s isn’t, it’s disgusting and inexcusable
It’s just gone too far on here

  407. robbo is that at meant for me said it was rather fox the con man that had gone rather than Wogan h a guy who did a lot of good with his life and raised millions for kids compared to a complete CON man who is a born liar who has lied his way into ripping the heart out of a football club seems more than fair to me no who i would miss most and the rest of the world

  408. I didn’t see the game – the result was a fore gone conclusion . Watched the low lights on MOTD – a 19 year old scores a hat trick against us on his debut , says a lot . This is why the hype around players like Grealish and Traore are unfathomable. They are no where near as good as that lad. That penalty he scored was sublime .

I agree with MK and Runtingz on Guarde . Remember GH trying to get a better style of football at VP and more discipline and better fitness. The problem GH had was that the players weren’t able to change to his methods quick enough . It is the same for Remi . He’s intimated before now that they’ve not done what they’ve been asked to do. Add to this the split dressing room ( alluded to again this week ) and the weaknesses in the team and I doubt any other mgr couid do much better .
As for playing the kids , no thanks. Don’t put them in the firing line for a drubbing by a much better man city side at home. That’s not going to help them at all.
The board have thrown in the towel, the players have been told relegation is inevitable and not to be feared , so there is not even going to be the excitement of a few new faces .

Hollis saying “don’t fear relegation ” are the sentiments of a man who is t a football supporter. There’s everything to dislike. Our AVLifers from abroad won’t get to see the games on line for one !

  409. Paul McGrath

“Remi Garde you came to Villa when we were at an all time low , and while we now need wins I’m greatfull the team is improving. So tk you !”

    And Paul Mcg again

‘ Needs everyone behind him , if we’re going anywhere lets do it fighting and with passion . # UTV.’

Who is going to argue with God ?!

  410. jenny love macca the greatest player to ever pull on the shirt bar none only truly world class player we have ever had in that he was the best in the world in his position but garde is not the man he sets the team up exactly like lambert not to get neat cannot win a game the way he sets a team out ig we draw every game from now till end of season we will still be rock bottom he knew this when he came and did nothing about it have to set up to win every game and he has not got a clue can have the ball 98% of a game but if you do not win it means nothing when will all the happy clappers understand this and do something except happy clap

  411. I hear that the club are only taking half the usual quota for away games, which was already half of what they could take. They seem determined to alienate the customers don’t they ?
Really feel sorry for Garde, he looked choked when interviewed, what kind of impression will he be left with of Aston Villa after working with these lowlifes ? At every act they do something even more obnoxious than before, how can they have any self respect, they disgust me.

  412. Fans dropping like flies on the blogs, its like 1967 all over again only without the protests, 12,000 at the start of next season if Lerner’s still the puppet master, then the rot will really set in, this club is going bump.
I see Bordeaux signed the Arsenal lad so that was yet another lie, Bordeaux are skint and could never afford 1.6m loan fee and 60k in wages, Hollis and Fox are just saving for Lerners piggy bank.
I really dislike both of these toerags and i certainly wouldn’t trust either.

  413. garde is just a puppett that is plain to see he would walk tonight if not he is in with this crap its up to the happy clappers now the club is in there hands stay away completely fox will go or go and support fox that is the only choice they have and i know what the spineless wan kers will chose

  414. Steamer – both you and I have been with the villa for many years, both good and bad times and some really good and really bad times. On and off the pitch. But tonight has left me completely empty, drained, despondent ……. Feeling so sad for the ones who have followed this team for years with hope and now see it dashed to pieces. And feeling so sorry for Remi – what a kick in the balls for him.
This, I think is now the end.

  415. Oldvilla.
Agree 100% mate, the club has no scruples, i made an attempt to kick the bug a few months ago but couldn’t do it, no bother now, i’m beginning to hate what the club has become, great memories but i think it could be time to let AVFC die.

  416. If the last few days don’t spur demo’s then i don’t know what will, they should have been protesting five years ago. Wonder if that old bag’s happy who invaded the McCleish demo, talking through her fat jeer about supporting the club, bet the old cow goes shopping on a Saturday now.

  417. Steamer, yeah great memories but as you say maybe it’s time to let go now. I can’t back a club being run by such complete morons who have such a disregard for all that the club used to stand for ….. And its supporters who have followed through good and bad.
No doubt I’ll still watch tomorrow night and still hope but just won’t get too worked up about it now.
    Sad old times mate …..

  418. the main thing is what the happy clappers do not understand is that the other 2 teams that go down with us who ever they are have spent and have far far stronger teams so thats 2 places gone next year then there are the teams that do not go up through the play off the likes of hopefully small heath forest derby wolves and us we will be fighting at the very best for a play off place if everything goes to plan the way things stand 12 to 1 to win the league next year is a joke price we should be 33 to i at least but the 8 to 1 to go down looks a great price especially with the great eric black in charge as the frog can nor put up with this any longer or can he how much has fox promised him to keep his gob shut it has worked on every other plonker we have had as a so called manager money keeps silence at VP

  419. JamesG,
I think the only reason he hasn’t walked is because he feels responsible for his two coaches who gave up secure jobs to join him at VP. From day one he’s displayed a sense of decency lacking in every other department of AVFC.

  420. Thanks Matt for fixing the blog .

Remi has taken on the haunted , beaten look that all AV managers end up with . Feel truly sorry for him. The club haven’t got any of his targets – what a surprise (not)
I don’t expect Remi to walk , why should he walk away from the salary he’d lose if he did – unless he couid prove constructive dismissal like MON did. If Remi does forego his salary and resigns then no one will blame him .

I listened to Ian Taylor tonight on Free Radio. As he said, this is a crushing blow to morale and pride. What hope has Remi got in motivating a team when the club have told the world “we have given up: we will accept going down”

I didn’t expect us to sign anyone , (following Hollis’s disdain ) I stupidly hoped we would , but thought they couid have got a few loans at least . It just makes the relegation inevitability more real and more embarrassing .

  421. I see Lambert reckons he’s happy Villa sacked him, not half as happy as i was, strange that he didn’t resign so he couldn’t have been that miserable, or could it have something to do with compo …
Bet the muppets gave him a standing ovation at VP tonight for the youth cup game.

  422. Hello Jen,
Sad tonight isn’t it, the realisation that we’re nearly gone for good, the finances must be in a hell of a state and yet we were told they were under control, surely the club couldn’t have been telling porkies ?

  423. Not only did remi not get any signings, he has lost 4 of 25 man ßquad Cole crespo ilor and Gardner ,zog who he banished,
Can see no reason why he can’t do a Mon win constructive dismal case
Every one laughing at Lerner ,Quinn was boss at Sunderland Lerner bought bent now when TV money massive no spending
As person said rh9des would been good bet for getting us back up( kozak Gabby Sinclair ) not likely

  424. Garde was promised funds to strengthen his squad during the talks before his appointment in November but was left frustrated after Villa’s board declined to spend when the transfer window opened.

Daily telegraph . More papers saying the club have changed the goalposts . How will he trust them to spend in the summer . Once bitten !

  425. Steamer
We need fraud squad to go over finances
No way no money Lerner has it squirreled away under loans fees scumbag
Sky are running story garde going to quit
Asked big niall said back remi should walk, person as well

  426. JamesG – I’d guess that AV have learned their lesson from MONs successful claim and their managers contract contains all sorts of disclaimers to stop CD claims which may or may not be legally enforceable .
You can bet your bottom dollar they will have tried though and it’s up to Remi ‘s lawyers to find a loop hole . I agree that it sounds a similar situation to MON even though we don’t know the exact reason why MON succeeded as he signed a non disclosure agreement aka gagging order . Was it lack of funds or being told to sell players .
I’d say he does have grounds and may even be in a stronger position than MON as He could argue that he took the position on the basis that he would be given funds .

  427. Today was the day AVFC finally died, I haven’t been Remi Gardes biggest fan, but have acknowledged the tough circumstances under which he is working. Today I felt like he had definitely been hung out to dry and wouldn’t blame him if he walked, he certainly won’t be here next season. The club simply haven’t backed him, and will sink into oblivion under the stewardship of these absolute retards.
Taylor has stated how bad things have got, Garde has come out and made his feelings known and we could wake up to being manager less yet again.
When will Lerner wake up and see he has fucked up yet again and put his trust in unqualified morons yet again, he really is the most incompetent fool ever to run a sporting franchise, he has ruined two!!!
It’s gone beyond despair, a mate had free tickets for the cup game inc meal in the corner flag, drinks in the 1874 suite with Tayls, Stauntan and Sid, he said they were actually embarrassed at how poor Villa were /are, quite simply the worst football team ever assembled at VP with God awful tactics . No wonder only 17k Villa fans turned up.
Next season is gonna be fucking terrible, more of the same but losing to shitty clubs rather than just the big guns. We are truly on the path to becoming the next Pimpey/Leeds or even the biggest club to go bump.
Randy Lerner has turned us into European laughing stock
    RIP AVFC

  428. Gone, and almost forgotten, AVFC……

Like everyone else, I feel so much for Remi Garde, a really decent man. What a shame we did not have a manager like him after MON walked.

I am close to the end, and will decide after tomorrow night, whether I attend the Norwich match as a final token to Remi and his struggling squad.

We have so many injuries before tomorrow night that several youngsters could be on the bench.

  429. If the summer buys are crap how the fuck fox Reilly alstad have still got jobs,Sherwood told needed new team they new better,as garde said when you keep doing the same things wrong you have problems is
Guzan Hutton Richardson Westwood Gabby that’s 4 of the players garde wanted replaced, plus Richards has been a disaster

  430. Hi Steamer – yes it is and it’s the way it’s being done , without any decency . The final insult was employing an accountant to finnish us off without as much as a pretence of a fight. Is this the most pathetic surrender in the history of the Premier League .

  431. Hollis’s job is probably to the realisation of the valuable property assets owned by the property company of AVFC.

Several of the Villa companies which have no real assets, only football contracts running out, will be allowed to be put in administration, with the players only able to recoup a little of the money owed to them. The Villa trading company will also go the same way, owing money to many local creditors.

This club is about to be asset stripped like you have never seen before, and Randy will recoup his money from the major asset sales of the Holte Hotel, Bodymoor Heath and Vila Park itself, then Fox will disappear, and Hollis will be declared a hero amongst the money men, for saving Randy’s investments.

The final act will be to put the Villa marque up for sale to the highest bidder.

  432. What is so shocking is the cynical and blatant way this has been handled . Not even a few loans to give the fans something to cling onto . It’s the biggest slap in the face I can recall under RL’s ownership – even on a par with taking on AM.

  433. the facts are that fox herr flick and reily have all told lies and are con men and frauds they have no got captain Mainwaring to take the flack and the great eric i have never won f all black into take over these lot are a disgrace and lies and have conned learner as much as us customers only a boycott will now work

  434. l remember laughing at the blues when Ken wheldon took over the blues from Walsall and he started selling everything off , got rid of the youth teams (remember Martin Weir steamer ? kicked out aged 16 ) and he even changed the bulbs around the ground to a lower wattage , and turned half the floodlights off , well they call it Karma ! thankfully l dont see them old noses now , but l reckon the young ones will rip into me ,
its only going to get worse down there now and as l said to Steamer today we got 16 games left to drag out, l think for his own health Garde should resign and be the man and tell us what really went on , not get sacked and a pay-off and sealed lips like all the other tossers do ,
l dread to think what players we will have next season as can we really see them muppets , hang on l like the muppets , especially Animal , so l will call them what they really are , Cunts
l saw on TVB , Expat saying he’s off as there isnt really going to be anything worth saying about the villa now , its just going to be the same old same and a Steamer said , the blogs seem to be dying ,
maybe JL could do a piece on some of the old good times and a bit more history , Runtins could tell us about his Jamaica Hols , Brasil about his pub crawls in the smoke , SWW could tell us about ( nah fuck that ) , and l could possibly have my arm twisted and tell you about my Dublin trip when l met God ))
and please no more team selections , its going to be the same old shit for a long long long time
l just hope Prox hasnt drunk himself into oblivion , could do with some more new beers to drink ..
    Jenny xxxxxxx night night xxxx
    night all

  435. I agree ST75 ….where did you meet God again? Xx
Remembering all the jokes about the jailbird owners of SHA , being ran by Ronnie Biggs and now we have our own smiling assassin and it ain’t Dwight Yorke !

  436. Paul Merson’s score on club transfers – predictable I suppose but look who has gone out AND there was talk in the radio last night – think it was Tom Ross or Franksie that the loans go with an option to buy them at the end of loan period.

The transfer window has closed – and every Premier League club must make do with what they have until the end of the season.

Did your club get the players they needed? Did they get good value for those that left?

We asked Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson to review the signings that each club has made and grade their January transfer business…

MERSE SAYS: They get a C because they didn’t do enough. Mohamed Elneny is nowhere near enough. They definitely needed a defensive midfield player, but also a forward. If Olivier Giroud gets injured then can Theo Walcott come in and score enough goals in the last 15 games?

  437. Hoodwinked.

This is a copy of a tweet Stan Collymore tweeted in July 2015

“Coffee and a chat with Tom Fox at VP. Some very exciting developments at our club in the coming months. #UTV”

  438. i have slowly come to like garde but the reason he has had no backing from herr flick is down to him and him alone he seems to not have the tools to set a team up to win i know he is working with a bunch of complete lazy tossers brought in by reily and fox and flick who should now be sacked on the spot for complete failer
but that will not happen at the funny farm as we know the club is run by con men in every single position ,
going back to garde he has had the worst ever first ten games in points gaind by any new manager in the prem for 20 years and with a recored like that the account could not sanction any more money for what is whatever you may think a complete
failer of a manager as all managers are judged on results and onn that count no matter what you think he has not deliverd
so i think it is a case of the committee have come to the conclusion that they have hired the wrong guy no matter what they say in public as they are all a complete bunch of liers and cheats and con men .
and that is the reason he has not had any backing and for me the only reason that black has been brought in to take over the sinking ship so it looks like garde will go as he has been forced out by these con men but he has not helped himself as being the worst new manager in the history of the prem as i say its a results game he picks the team he chooses the tactics and they aint been good enough hence the con men have to have another scapegoat

  439. Some valid points John but still how can the club gamble there future away with nothing spent, we all knew we needed 4/5 players more last summer just to stand still, but what need now for fox and co there will be no shirts to sell ,no companies is going to want anything to do with villa brand watch under armour run,we didn’t sign any one so that’s fox Reilly and alstad out of a job hopefully they never work again
David James has came out said villa dressing room is toxic this last 4/5 years stand up Gabby take a bow
As person we should been signing players to get us up at first attempt ( Rhodes) for one first job in summer is to move on
Guzan Hutton Richardson Westwood gil Sanchez Gabby bacuna kozak for starters we are in the shit long term

  440. JD– How can losing half of your first 10 games with a crap team drawing 4 an winning 1 be the worst ever? Tim had 1 win and 1 draw in 10 with the same squad?? you have to put it in perspective this is a rank team.

  441. he should go now and speak out if he wants to get another job or will he go down the pay off route like the rest so he can say nought if he came out and spoke now at least herr flick reily and fox might get sacked the real problem at the club

  442. JG sometimes you have! to look beyond results, there are 1000’s of managers and players the ideal combination has to come from the manager, we have half a team of players that don’t want to be here and are already counting down to retirement the other half have been badly let down by them.

  443. JD – he could do more by staying and Highlighting the carry on as he is. that way he just looks like the decent bloke he is and the others the total wank stains they are

  444. Mark k
Sherwood first ten result not last ten
Also if remi had got 3 players in before the last 3 games
Keeper bunn badly caught for Leicester goal
Defender would helped keep 3 clean sheets
Striker fluke v pal, plenty pressure Leicester and wba 2 goals we would had 9 points going intpo matches v Norwich and west ham
    The board should be shot

  445. JD,
Black is insurance, if Garde goes then he can step in, if he stays he can provide RG with info on the lower divisions.
Just realised what Fox meant when he said they were ‘building something special.’ VP is going to be levelled and a new pleasure park will be built. Not only do they bs but the bs is outrageous.
We have some evil bastards connected to AVFC, Duncan-Smith, Camoron, Lerner a rabid Republican loony, Hollis, a man who earns a living by putting folk out o work, Fox, lying incompetent vermin, Herbert. Would the world be a better place without us ? quite possibly.
Wonder if Herbert still thinks that Lerner is ‘a decent man.’ If anyone thinks that if we survive his reign that he will sell to a suitable owner then they have rocks for brains.
Remember all those celebs and wealthy Villans who turned up at the Cup Final probably with freebies, where are they now ?
Ian Holloway reckons he knows for certain that Lerner turned down twice what he paid for Villa.

  446. Shame on the board for not backing Garde, the one man who was attempting to get Villa to survive this season.

There is some vitriol going Garde’s way but the man is blameless in my eyes. Forced to work with an inadequate squad and players who didn’t give a shite, he had to determine who was willing to play for him and who he needed to just fill in as he had no alternatives and then build some consistency.

It will be a sad day if the one good thing in VP is forced out by yet more board incompetence. If the lack of movement in January is the straw that breaks the happy clappers back then it’s done something good. The time is now to protest before and after every game.

To JG and JD, Remi is not the cause of our trouble lay off the man as he tries to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.

Lerner, Fox, Hollis shame on you, if you have a shred of decency, you’ll be the ones to walk away not Garde.

Villans take pride in our history, take pride in the great players that have worn the claret and blue, take pride in our achievements but tear down this false regime as soon as possible.

Completely pissed off at the mgmt, anyone have Fox’s email.

    FOLAFAH

    VTID

  447. Dor- I echo those sentiments

JG- If you want to compare Garde do it with the same team, how can comparing him to a team with Tekkers etc in it be a level playing field? who’s to say he wouldn’t of done better and won the final last season???

  448. I think Remi should leave now. Rather than summer. Give Nigel Pearson a chance to come in and save us #avfc HDE

Sir Doug Ellis ‏@HD_Ellis 4h4 hours ago
I wouldn’t have let this mess happen. Randy & Chuck Krulak have let me down #avfc HDE

The two faced slimeball, he was the architect of all this, let HIM down, always thinking of himself not the club or its fans.

  449. So the board had 31 days to do something to lift the club and fight to survive, and yet they did nothing. Not a soul.

In a way I hope Remi walks. I’m not his biggest fan but he doesn’t deserve this board. If we get hammered tonight, I can see him going

I’m of to West Ham today. Coach leaves VP at half two which seems way to early. I hope we change formation. Not a fan of this 4312 what so ever. No width, no pace, no quality

Hope the fans back Garde and slaughter the board tonight

  450. There were protests when AM was appointed , supporters groups organised , why aren’t there any now when we are facing even darker times . The next game to be televised is the Pool game . Will something be arranged before then .

  451. as for garde i will await judgement to see what shower of wan kers he picks tonight if hutton bacuna
westwood Richardson guzan 2ton scabby are any where nere the team or on the bench he can walk as whi have always said still applies in that he has no idea and still pick wan kers if Richards playes center half he should be sacked on the spot as i say will wait to see if he has learnt any thing from his complete balls up on sat as the last game i went to was Norwich away and that was the woesr villa side I have ever seen in 50 odd years so will wait and see what shower of sh ite he picks tonight

  452. JD surely by now you know the real 1st team is the one played against leicester, palace, wba? the other is Garde resting the walking wounded because we are playing week games and cup

  453. Randy has turned to a toxic man, which is what he has done before, and I repeat my earlier post about what I think he is up to…..

Also how much was the Serpentine sold for, until a couple of seasons ago, Villa’s main supporters car park?
Hollis’s job is probably to the realisation of the valuable property assets owned by the property company of AVFC.

Several of the Villa companies which have no real assets, only football contracts running out, will be allowed to be put in administration, with the players only able to recoup a little of the money owed to them. The final act will be to put the Villa marque up for sale to the highest bidder

  454. There will be some Holtenders in the Sky who will be spitting feathers at what is happening to their club, the sheer incompetency of those that call themselves a football board, I listened to Peter Coates of Stoke last night and thought here was a proper football chairman who knew the game and knows how to run a football club, I see Peace of WBA refusing to take £24m for his petulant striker to try to ensure they are in this league next season and then I think of Fox and Hollis two completely insignificant people who don”t give a rats ass about Aston Villa.

Garde must see these idiots have hung him out to dry and will continue to do so until he does the sensible thing and walks away, the fans will turn on Garde and that is a nailed on certainty because that’s the way it has always been, he is visible on the touchline and he is going to get hell while Fox and Hollis sit in the warm drinking a nice pinot noir.

We are going out of this division without a fight and that is a fucking disgrace, it goes against everything this club stands for, our Lion proudly sat on that excuse for a badge shedding tears at our pitiful demise, and does Lerner give a shit not a chance he still has £700m sat in the bank so do you really think any of this is worrying him, he stuck Hollis in there to asset strip and get a half decent price from any buyer dumb enough to part with their cash.

As for Ellis crying into his cocoa because we are a shambles, well just remember who sold us to good old Randy just so you could again swell your bank account again at the expense of AVFC.

I think this is the start of a very long dark period for AVFC along the same lines as Leeds and both Sheffield clubs, and IF we can manage to get back in the premier the likes of Leicester,West Brom and Stoke will be so far ahead of us financially that we will continue to struggle year after year.

Remi walk away now while you still have a semblance of respect left, the cowards Lerner, Fox and Hollis will eventually drive you out so go now if you have any sense.

  455. Randy has turned to a toxic man, which is what he has done before, and I repeat my earlier post about what I think he is up to…..

Also how much was the Serpentine sold for, until a couple of seasons ago, Villa’s main supporters car park?

  456. I’ve sent this to the above email address, I apologise for the over use of Mr. and other general politeness, I felt that if I lowered myself to name calling, any point I was trying to make would be lost, if there is a response, I’ll let you know. Apologies for the length, it didn’t prove easy to condense what I had to say.

    Dear Mr. Fox

I’m fully aware you must get a large amount of correspondence from Villa fans and so will completely understand if you don’t get to respond in a timely manner if at all. I also assume your emails are vetted to sift out the abuse. Hopefully mine isn’t considered abusive.

Presumably, many fans start with being a ST holder for 40/50 years etc, my background will be brief in that I’m Irish and therefore never saw the need for an ST but have attended games since the 90s but a fan since the 70s. Not sure if that brings any justification for the rest of my correspondence.

If I had any anger to vent, it’s long since evaporated, to be replaced by sadness.

I’ve seen the heights of what this club can achieve and the lows, but since Mr. Lerner has taken over, it has been a catalogue of mistakes. I won’t repeat any of them here as they are well documented.

I understand as a professional working in the financial services industry, the need to take opportunities afforded to you. So I’ve no issue with you moving from being a Commercial Director at one club (apologies if I mis-titled you) to CEO of mine. But in that jump, did you recognise your inabilities and look to hire appropriate people to fill those gaps.

By that I mean, the contract given to Mr. Lambert after registering a few wins, the contract extensions to players who weren’t contributing to the team, the hiring of Mr. Sherwood who had little experience. Evidence to me that you were out of your depth or had no support in the decision making process.

Today, by accident or design we find ourselves with a manager with a football brain but at the moment he needed financial support from the board and Mr. Lerner it was missing.

Your response maybe that our position was unattractive to ruthless money hungry players but the reason we are in this position is because of the recoil from overspending by Mr. O’Neill and the subsequent demands placed on every manager to reduce the wage bill and therefore the quality of the playing staff.

The problem is this is a football club being run as a business that partakes in football as opposed to a football club with business needs. The solution is quality investment in playing staff, a good product will generate more TV income, sponsorship and merchandising. Our product is unsaleable and will become more so upon relegation.

When you speak to Mr. Lerner, please inform him that he has destroyed a fine institution and lost a generation of potential Villa fans, never mind the hit he’ll take on his personal wealth.

The only solution is to obtain fresh investment either by sale or partial sale of a controlling interest and for funding to be given to the manager. I do hope this is your priority purpose alongside Mr. Hollis.

If I ask anything of you directly don’t allow Remi Garde to leave without a fight. He is the one good thing in the club in my opinion.

Finally, the club’s financial mgmt team should be ashamed of their inaction during the window of opportunity that presented itself this January. There can be no excuses for not signing a single player. The only message this generates is the willingness to see Aston Villa in the second division and to any future manager don’t expect to be backed.

I will be very honest with you, I look forward to the day when you, Mr. Lerner and Mr. Hollis are consigned to the history books and Aston Villa can be restored to a team that plays good football, challenges in every competition and has re-engaged with all the supporters who have fallen out of love with this club over the years. I don’t think it will happen under your combined tenure.

  457. SWV,

I would agree. Bodymoor Heath is worth it’s weight in gold alone for a major housing/commercial development, and now having seen through Hollis’s credentials, it is the only logical reason for bringing in an asset stripper.

I have a feeling that Lerner has turned so much against the vitriol directed at him in recent times, he is determined to put an end to Aston Villa, and it is going to end like an acrimonious divorce…

  458. DOR;

An excellent letter, extremely well put, and certainly has my backing, and I am sure that of many, many other Villans.

Well done! Let us hope it reaches him, and that he reads it.

  459. Excellent letter DOR
Let us know if you get a reply . I wrote recently about sports psychology and got the standard “I’ve filed your details should the manager need them” bullshit from the PA. in other words , Remi won’t get to see them as they’re now in the filing dustbin .

maybe send it to the Bham Mail c/o Matt Kendrick if you don’t get a reply .

  460. If I was Garde I would be asking the chairman to explain Our Italian like strategic withdrawal, Or has Garde been ordered to increase the speed of players running backwards and none of the new prospects were quick enough in retreat?

The after match debrief will consist of are you staying? win or lose, and once again Remi will be facing the flack for the untouchables

  461. Are reports are true that Sunderland offered money for Micah in the region of 10 mill ? Maybe the board were fearful of having a MON 2 situation . Was his constructive dismissal comp partly based on him being told to sell players . Just a thought .

  462. DOR,
Brilliant letter mate, subtle but then straight to the point, good that you let them know the fans feelings although whether he actually cares is another thing.
    PP,
Villa own all the land up to Witton Island and with Bodymoor Heath they discovered it was rich in some sort of minerals.
I think Lerner may have been upset by the trolling of his lad a couple of weeks ago and has decided to take his revenge on the club.

Anyway, fairly confident of a win tonight 1-0, West Ham have always been a crepe club out of their depth at top level, If anyone sees the bike give her my regards.

  463. For
    Mk
When Sherwood took over after Lambert think it was 2 months without a win, remember goal of month was cancelled in October, November as well,Sherwood got a lift first few matches got enough points to scrape into last spot, but I would sacked him after last 3 matches and cup final farce
That was the time for remi you don’t judge remi first ten against Sherwood last ten you would been sacking Sherwood if the team had got results
In Sherwood’s ten league matches we only lost one Chelsea by more than one goal no hammering really unlucky not to have won a few drew some them the usual culprits cost big time
Remi said yesterday/ weekend when you keep doing the wrong thing you get same result and there is my problem with him he kept playing guzan Hutton Richardson and rudi, not playing traore
Guzan on his own has cost double figures in points this season and maybe
only for chewing gum fiasco he wouldn’t been dropped only had to look at
sat our defence a complete mess, even replay v Wycombe the same,Hutton out we have stopped conceding 16/7 goals from his position, no assists no point, yet instead putting young lad on bench for cup remi put Hutton why?
Rudi was dead yet wouldn’t play kozak?,traore scared the shit every team he played didn’t get enough playing time
As for remi I don’t know what contract he has but he not here for money he turned good jobs down before, but I think to heap more shame on the board he should walk they appointed black without his say so,took his transfer kitty away what will they do in the summer

  464. A MON 2 situation would require millions to be spent on the Habib Beye’s of this world, we haven’t spent a penny. I think we have a Garde 1 situation, promises made to finance some player addition only for the moves not to be sanctioned despite Garde’s efforts.

Undermining Garde and his attempt to survive relegation is a whole new low for Lerner.

  465. If that is true Steamer, I am even more certain that that is what Lerner is up to They own huge amounts of highly valuable development land, and are worth far more if Aston Villa does not exist, and this would confirm the reason that Villa has been broken down into 7 different companies.

  466. DOR – I didn’t mean that . I meant that if the board sanctioned the sale of Richards then Remi would have a valid claim for constructive dismissal as MON did : because the club have sold his captain / experienced player and therefore Garde can’t do his job. It’s not to do with wasting money but selling the manager’s best assets .

Interesting phone in on talk sport now – subject “the fitness of Aston Villa board to run a football club”. Durham “it’s a disgrace that a club like AV has given up without a fight and been allowed to whimper out of the premier league “. Their sympathy is with Guarde – as is mine !

  467. It’s clear from the little Remi has said , and he is very restrained and dignified , but it’s etched in his face , he was promised or it was inferred that this relegation squad he had inherited , would be strengthened in Jan. They’ve misled him , misled the fans and as Durham said , when this situation occurs , you have to question the chairmans fitness to run a club .

  468. Jenny
Cole ilor crespo Gardner are not available out of 25 man squad gave to garde sold or loaned
    Zog is a lazy b
Traore is out for at least 2 more months
Sanchez Hutton rudi have missed weeks
    Sendross has left as well
Who is in new squad have we enough to fill 25 places

  469. Exactly JamesG – 8 scouts reporting to Reilley and we don’t have a fit and adequate squad . He can’t do his job , the club have changed material conditions and representations .

  470. JG – remi chose black he has said so himself. You have to compare like for like or it means nothing. you wouldn’t put Michael Schumacher in a go cart and Lewis Hamilton in a formula one car and say Hamilton’s a better driver he won would you? Tim didn’t play Traore much either and he played worse players than Garde regularly and he made Richards captain straight away and gabby club captain??? do you think Garde would of done that or weighed up who’s suitable first?

All you are going on is Tims initial impact and that is where it all went wrong IMO hulls failure kept us up

  471. Jen- You have to temper that thought by saying it was Tim who said who stayed and who could go. Yes he lost his best players but he ordered a clear out. I don’t know about you but the french lads are our better players. Richards is a liability, Gestede next to useless, lescott is only just got fit and plays better without richards, bakuna Tims choice at RB with Hutton, Gabby first name on the teamsheet .

You cannot blame the transfer committee for all the problems that occurred. I hate to think what could of turned up left to Tim? Addy was his banker and could cost us prem survival now thats poor planning on Tims behalf. The committee only find the players, Tim said what positions he wanted to fill but could not get his first choices approved but still went for lesser ones in his eyes anyhow. He had to by July we had half a squad.

Don t know why you dislike Sherwood so much and blame him for this season woes,Gabby was club captain when Sherwood took over,as you said yourself Richards has been massive disappoint meant ,who else was going to be made captain
Traore was injured for most Sherwood reign but still scored v notts co and assist v cpal garde wouldn’t play him no match to we were behind and who are players Sherwood played garde hasn’t, guzan Hutton you seen stats but remi kept playing and as for the new french lads remi has got nothing out of them gana, vertout are getting worse every week ayew had couple good games that’s it and remember I said Sherwood should been sacked after cup final ,maybe then remi would been good choice but to come in and only win one match in dozen shocking

  473. Where does remi know or have worked with black, black has been feeding on bottom levels for year, played in France when remi was in short trousers, up to weekend remi said whatever fox told him,but there was a change late last week ,the board got wind remi knew there plans and would walk hey presto black he could work with remi coaches language wise

  474. Game over Ayew gets himself sent off, and will now not be available….maybe the players are part of a conspiracy….Remi will walk tomorrow…

    No-one can survive this….

  475. To the tune of the four tops “Just walk away Remay… You’re not to blame ”

Watching the game on BT Sport – fantastic start by us , 67 per cent possession – should v had a pen for handball even commentators said so – then Ayew did a Huth type elbow and gets sent off . Poor old Remi , poor travelling fans . Remi looks like he’s about to cry . And Spurs beating Norwich .
