Rappers Big Sean, Meek Mill pledge aid to Flint water crisis

FLINT, MI -- Rapper Meek Mill said on his Instagram page that he's got a donation to help out in the ongoing Flint water crisis, while Detroit-based rapper Big Sean also pledged help to the city during what he called a "tragedy."

"I got 50k to donate to waters. Let's see if we can have @50Cent match me!" said Meek Mill in his post on Sunday, noting Roc Nation, founded and owned by hip-hop mogul Jay Z would purchase and ship water to the city.

Rapper 50 Cent appeared to decline the challenge in a colorful response to Meek Mill. The pair have engaged in a war of words of late, according to media reports.

In a follow-up post, Meek Mill included a photo with the hashtag #FLINT over the top, adding "My money is in and my job done."

Big Sean took some time to leave messages on his Twitter page Sunday to address the situation in Flint and offer some assistance.

Sean Combs, a rapper, producer and actor, also reposted a video on his Instagram about Flint's water woes.

Pop singer Cher recently discussed the city's issue with elevated lead levels on her Twitter page and donated more than 181,000 bottles of water in a partnership with Icelandic Glacial that was delivered to Flint this week.
