'Comic book wrestler' leaves gifts for Japan's school children

Children's homes in Japan are on the receiving end of a mysterious outpouring of charity. Anonymous donations of school bags and other gifts are being left in the name of a popular manga character.

It all started on Christmas day with a donation of school bags but after national media coverage the trend has snowballed.

The gifts are signed with the name of a comic book pro-wrestler, also known as Tiger Mask, who gives his winnings to the orphanage where he was raised.

Roland Buerk reports from Tokyo.
