Patna: Bihar Government has decided to setup a Noida like metropolitan city named Patliputra in Patna. the metropolitan city would be set up on the outskirts of Patna and would be constructed by Patna Metropolitan Area Development Authority. The new city would be based on Township model and would have an efficient network of sewerage and sewerage treatment plant.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar yesterday instructed the Urban Development Ministry to start working on master plan of the city and get it ready within 3 months.
The Chief Minister also directed setting up of Patna Metropolitan Area Development Authority immediately, which would be responsible for construction and maintenance of all new structures in Patna and its outskirts. The Authority would also be responsible for approving the design of new constructions in the city as well as maintenance of all parks inside Patna.
This is not the first time such mega-development plan has been proposed. In 2012, noted architect Hafeez Contractor had proposed setting up of a New Patna World City on the sidelines of Noida and Dubai, but the plan could not be materialized.
