Research in Learning Technology: New Strategy and Call for Editors

Led by the Editorial Board, chaired by Prof Neil Morris, Research in Learning Technology, the Open Access, peer-assessed journal published by the Association for Learning Technology, has set out its key aims in a new Strategy document for 2015-17 at http://repository.alt.ac.uk/2363/ . Research in Learning Technology is the journal published by the Association for Learning Technology (ALT) with Co-Action Publishing. At the heart of ALT’s aims and values is the importance of Learning Technology research in underpinning the intelligent use of technology in support of learning, teaching and assessment. One of our key aims as set out in our 2014-17 strategy is to strengthen learning technology research and practice through collaboration, sharing and networking, nationally and internationally.

Join the Editorial Team

We are seeking to appoint up to two new Editors to create a new Editorial Team to join Carlo Perrotta and Peter Reed as Editors and strengthen the expertise of the team across all areas of Learning Technology. The Editorial Team handles all submissions to the journal and is supported by the publisher and ALT staff.

This role includes:

  • Managing the editorial process for all manuscripts assigned to them, to include: assigning reviewers, providing a final decision on manuscripts based on reviewers comments and their own opinion, writing the decision letter with peer review feedback;

  • Attending all editorial board meetings either in person or virtually;

  • Actively promoting the journal within their networks;

  • Soliciting appropriate manuscripts for special issues or regular issues from within their networks.

 

We are seeking individuals who:

  • are able to commit to the role for a minimum of 3 years, with a possibility of renewal for a further 3 years;

  • Agree to deal with all ALT journal correspondence in a timely manner, and always within one week. Inform colleagues of any periods of unavailability in advance.
