Hyundai Motor America CEO Dave Zuchowski says the South Korean automaker will offer a sedan to compete with the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes C-Class. The new four-door automobile will be sold under the new Genesis brand which will debut in 2016 when the company introduces the G90 flagship sedan.

Hyundai will be selective about which of its 834 U.S. dealers will carry the six new models under the Genesis brand.

“As we bring all this new product out, it will not go to all dealers,” Dave Zuchowski, Hyundai Motor America CEO, tells WardsAuto.

Zuchowski made a direct reference to the BMW 3 Series sedan which seems to serve as a benchmark for all the recently introduced midsize sedans.

“We do have in our plans more of an entry-level sedan coming, that would be BMW 3-Series-type size, and maybe derivatives off of that with crossovers and stuff, (so) it’s not all larger vehicles,” says Zuchowski.

Further details of the new Genesis brand will be provided at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show.
