We Interrupt this rainy November .

To bring you pictures of sunny, warm places!

I don’t know about you, but my eyeballs are so tired of the gray and the rain and the bare-branched trees of November. Any Southern hemisphere readers are probably frolicking in more amiable climes as we speak, so this post might not be as necessary as it is for fellow Northern hemispherians desperate for vitamin D.

So, without further ado, please enjoy some of these pics of our road trip through Croatia a few months ago: the beautiful Roman ruins of Split, the delightful poppyseed pastries of Dubrovnik, the turquoise waters of the Aegean Sea, and the mystical sunset of Zadar. Winter is coming, but it’s good to remember it’s not always here.

How’s that feel on your eyeballs? I love how cozy the holidays feel, but Scotland (and now Seattle) has turned me into the sun’s most grateful acolyte.

Stay tuned post-Thanksgiving for a sneak peek at what’s coming to AsianCajuns.com! I know we keep teasing it, but the new AsianCajuns is coming to a screen near you soon. Thanks for your patience, lovely readers! xoxo

    1. I hope you guys had sunshine today, Kaolee! I took a walk just so I could find a bench somewhere and sit in the sunshine. But I agree — going some place warm and sunny sounds sooo good!

  1. Can’t wait to see the new website! So glad you are continuing to blog. Plus, as an alt-ac, I’m interested in how Lar’s husband went from Scotland to Seattle. He must be awesome because the market is so hard! These photos are gorgeous & you look so sophisticated.

    1. Hi Amy,

Thanks so much for reading! After Matt got his PhD we decided we wanted to live abroad for a while and luckily he really liked a prof in Edinburgh and was accepted as a Post-Doc at his lab. We knew we had to move back to the states eventually, and the same thing happened. Matt applied for some money and started his second post-doc at the University of Washington. We know the next stage might be a bit more competitive when searching for tenure-tract jobs, so we are keeping our fingers and toes crossed (but I agree, he is awesome ;D).

Thanks for the lovely comment, Amy!

      xoxo,
      Lar

  2. I wish I could have experience Croatia with you! The country looks magical and you look so happy to be surrounded by sunshine.

I would lecture you about how you should have moved back to Atlanta instead of Seattle because of the rain, but we’ve had more rain here than Seattle. I’m so over it!

Let’s go on another beach vacay soon, ok?

    xoxo, Cath

    1. YES purlease!!!! That would be wonderful. You and Troy would love Croatia. It’s beautiful, but very easy going and not as expensive as Italy or France.

You guys must be missing the sun so badly now. Poor, rainy Atlanta! Maybe Matt and I brought it with us from Scotland?

I’ll make up for it with a beach vacay some time in our not-too-distant future!

    1. Hi Amanda!

I hope you and your lovely fam get to go to Croatia — it’s a such a beautiful place!

The black sandals are from Clarks believe it or not. I’m not sure if they are as popular over here as they are in the UK, but I love them. Their shoes are always so comfy, but usually don’t sacrifice style too much. I actually wore them as walking shoes!

    1. Hi Abby!

Thanks so much! They were lovely dresses to pack because they did not wrinkle and took up no room.

  3. Croatia is now on my ever-growing list of places to travel to and you look so chic there! And I live in southern California, so I’m incredibly envious of the rain and cold weather that other places are getting (actually looking forward to El Nino, lol).

Will you be doing an post on life in Seattle now that you guys are somewhat settled?
