Burning rubber, reving engines, and sporty cars were the feature of the recent Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit event hosted by EA games. On the 27th October we headed over to Chobham Test Track , which is located on a former airfield in Chertsey, Surrey.

Chobham offers a unique driving experience with one of the only circuits to have a forest track simulating a rally experience. The 2 mile circuit opened to the public in 2009 and offers an excellent range of driving experiences and track days, and we were going to be having an incredible experience in the Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit cars.

CAR 2

Out on display first were three rather exciting and impressive Lamborgini and Porsches. The one that caught my interest the most was the Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Seacrest Lamorgini, which looked awesome and sleek.

CAR 3

There were also very nice white and Black Porsches that were looking super sexy out on the forecourt. Listening to the engines starting up was both exciting and exhilrating and this was before I even stepped into the vehicle.

Ben Collins, aka The Stig from TV car show ‘Top Gear’, was on top form and made an appearance at the event. A man who is familiar with stunt and race driving, Ben took to driving some of the guests around the 2 mile test track in one of the sexy porsche cars.

The band ‘Roll Deep’ also made a surprise appearance as they checked out the various cars on display. They were all kitted out in special SeaCrest County police vests, which gave them that law enforcement feel.

GAMEPLAY

EA had set up a special gaming marquee in which a selection of Xbox 360’s were set up with Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit. Patrick Söderlund made a brief introduction speech to the guests before gameplay started. The challenge was for the guests to play at Vanishing Point in a Pagani Zonda. Fastest person on the tracks would win an Xbox 360 and games.

WINNERS

After many rounds of gameplay, winners Lee from Gaming Lives and Philliipe Bosher from Game Rant came way with consoles and merchandise. A special leader board had been put on display to record everyone’s time around the track on the game, so we would keep an eye on who was ahead and who was lagging behind.

head shot

Out on the real test track, I went for a spin with EA’s Patrick Söderlund. We headed out in a black Porshe which sped across the forecourt and was then pursued by a Lamborghini SeaCrest County Police car. We screeched around the corners of the test track while being pursued, taking every chance to keep ahead of the police. Intially when I first entered the car, I had no idea how quick these cars could go and I was soon lost in the full force of the acceleration. In fact, at one point I asked Patrick if this was the fastest it could go, but due to wet weather conditions the night before, we couldn’t go any more than 80mph. I asked Patrick Söderlund what the fastest speed he had been in a car and he told me it was around the 300mph mark over in Germany.

OUTSIDE SHOT

It was a truly exhilarating and amazing experience which I will never forget. We were literally being pulled around with such force in our seats, it’s testament to these drivers skills that they stay on the road. It was a heart pounding, adrenaline filled day, and I am very grateful to EA for inviting me. Thanks go to Patrick Söderlund for an astounding driving experience.
