HTC One A9 dummy unit poses for pictures, giving us the latest look at the phone
A tweet disseminated today by tipster @OnLeaks, reveals a series of photographs that show off an HTC One A9 dummy unit. The history of this device is laced with confusion, which started when company co-founder and CEO Cher Wang told stockholders back in June, to expect a new "Hero" device. Suddenly, we were hearing about a phone called the Aero, which many assumed was a high-end device. That characterization was helped by a benchmark test showing the handset powered by MediaTek's MT6797 SoC, and its deca-core CPU.

Since then, rumored specs first revealed by Evan Blass of @evleaks fame, have determined that we could be looking at a mid-range handset instead of the high-end phone that was supposed to patch up HTC's leaking ship. The company is holding a media event on October 20th, and we expect the One A9 to be the center of attention.

The latest speculation has the phone coming with a 5-inch screen, carrying a 1080 x 1920 resolution. That works out to a 441ppi pixel density. A Snapdragon 617 SoC will power the handset, featuring an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 405 GPU. 2GB of RAM is inside, along with 16GB of expandable storage. The rear-facing 13MP camera is said to offer OIS, and the infamous 4MP Ultrapixel camera (once the featured rear snapper on older HTC flagship models) will shoot selfies and handle video chats. A 2150mAh battery will keep the lights on the 7mm thick device, and previous images show a fingerprint scanner/home button in front. Android 6.0 could be pre-installed.

The HTC One A9 is said to be a metal-clad handset, and should be available in six colors. The rumored November launch appears to be on target.

Thanks for the tip!
