It’s been three years since Dutch producer Tom Holkenborg, aka Junkie XL, has released a record of his own. The 47-year-old Nederlander has been far from inactive, however, as he’s become one of the most sought-after film composers around. He’s scored Mad Max: Fury Road, Black Mass, Divergent, Kill Your Friends, and even the Point Break remake. Now, as Holkenborg has revealed on Twitter, his next project will be providing the score for Deadpool.
This is hardly Holkenborg’s first foray into comic films. He scored 300: Rise of an Empire, and worked alongside Hans Zimmer on both Man of Steel and The Dark Knight Rises, which no doubt helped him secure the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice job. And he’s not unfamiliar with Marvel properties, either, having served as composer on The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Known for drum-heavy tracks, we’ll see how loud Holkenborg has to make the music to compete with the Merc with a mouth when Fox releases the movie on February 12th next year. In the meantime, revisit our recent interview with Holkenborg below.
