The Fashion Fund has a new home, moving from Ovation to Amazon. The streaming service has greenlighted a new 10-episode season of the unscripted half-hour series for premiere in 2016.
Led by Vogue’s Anna Wintour, CFDA Chairman Diane von Furstenberg and an esteemed selection committee, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund nominates 10 promising designers each year to compete in a four-month competition to prove their place in the future of American fashion.
The show is produced by Condé Nast Entertainment and Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg of Break Thru Films.
In addition to becoming the exclusive home for the show, Amazon will launch a dedicated retail experience in conjunction with the premiere of the series where customers can shop a curated selection of the Spring 2016 collections of this year’s finalists.
The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund was established in 2003 to help emerging American design talent find continued success in the business of fashion. With growing industry support, the prize was raised this year to $400,000 for the winner and $150,000 to the two runners-up. It is expected that the awards will be used to further develop each designer’s business in such areas as marketing, public relations, production and sales. In addition to the cash prizes, the award also includes mentorship from industry professionals whose expertise is tailored to the designers’ needs and future goals. Past mentors include Howard Socol, Rose Marie Bravo, Millard “Mickey” Drexler, Mark Lee, Maureen Chiquet and Domenico de Sole.
The Fashion Fund was a Hulu web series that originally aired in 2011. The show was restarted in 2014 on Ovation TV.
