In most cases, houses on wooded sites try to blend into their environment. Not this one. Clad in white corrugated metal, and featuring polished-concrete, whitewashed interiors, the Princeton House 02 in New Jersey stands in stark contrast with its sylvan surroundings. New York firm Levenbetts was less bent on blending in and more interested in architecture that frames the best possible views. The 2,500-square-foot house is built around a garden courtyard, with the living and dining rooms arranged around it to form an L shape. A hallway with built-ins doubles as a library and leads to the staircase leading up to the bedrooms. Windows are playfully placed at various eye levels all around the house. In the kitchen, for instance, a window that begins at a usual height continues under the counter, cutting out an area in the cabinetry for a view of the green grass outside.
