TVLine Items: Oprah to Recur on OWN Series, TeenNick’s ‘Splat’ and More
Oprah Winfrey‘s next small-screen gig will, unfortunately, not include any free cars for the home audience.
The former daytime TV staple will recur on Greenleaf, OWN‘s upcoming drama about the powerful Greenleaf family and their sprawling Memphis megachurch, where secrets and lies are as numerous as the faithful.
The cast also includes Keith David (Community) as Bishop James Greenleaf, the charming but manipulative leader of Greenleaf World Ministries; Lynn Whitfield (How to Get Away With Murder) as his steely, money-hungry wife, Lady Mae Greenleaf; Merle Dandridge (The Night Shift) as their estranged daughter, Grace; Lamman Rucker (Meet the Browns) as their handsome son, Jacob; and relative newcomer Deborah Joy Winans as Charity, their spunky second daughter.
Winfrey, meanwhile, will appear as Mavis McCready, sister of Lady Mae and close confidant of Grace. Greenleaf premieres in 2016.

* After raising speculation last week, Nickelodeon has formally announced “The Splat,” a revival of classic ’90s series that will span television, social media and a website. Beginning Monday, Oct. 5, a block of retro programming will air daily on TeenNick from 10 pm to 6 am, with shows including All That, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, CatDog, Clarissa Explains It All, Hey Arnold!, Hey Dude, Kenan & Kel, Ren & Stimpy, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Rocko’s Modern Life, Rugrats, Salute Your Shorts and The Wild Thornberrys.
* Best Time Ever With Neil Patrick Harris, which was slated to move to 8 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 29, will remain at 10 pm after a two-hour episode of The Voice on NBC.
* Tom Payne (Luck) will recur on The Walking Dead‘s sixth season as comic-book character Paul Monroe aka Jesus. A resident at the Alexandria Safe-Zone, Paul is a logical, well-adapted advisor to the group with a strong sense of morals.
* Peter Francis James (Guiding Light, Oz) has been cast in The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow as Dr. Aldus Boardman, who will first appear in the show’s crossover episode with Arrow. Per ComicBook.com, Dr. Boardman — who is unique to the TV series — is a classics professor who has devoted his life to researching Hawkgirl, Hawkman and their link to Vandal Savage.
* First Lady Michelle Obama will lend her voice to an episode of Disney Junior’s animated series Doc McStuffins, the network announced Thursday. Airing on Child Health Day — Monday, Oct. 5 — the episode will incorporate messages from FLOTUS’ Let’s Move! initiative, which promotes a healthy lifestyle for children.
Pause: that Nick channel is missing so many great shows! Angry Beavers, Ahh! Real Monsters, Doug. WHAT!?
Pretty sure they can’t get Doug anymore since its owned by Disney.
so Splat can’t air the episodes that Nick originally aired?

They should work on getting them back! :)
i am excited for are you afraid of the dark, I loved that show growing up.
I loved that, but I have been waiting for Salute Your Shorts to get some play for awhile.
