Work of Yvonne Carlson to be exhibited at arts center.

August 28, 2015

Yvonne CarlsonLUDINGTON  – The work of artist Yvonne Carlson will be exhibited at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts beginning Sept. 1, 2015 through the end of October. Carlson’s work in acrylic is strongly influenced by the natural beauty of her native Michigan.

The sweeping dunes, quiet woodlands, the ever-changing and always fascinating waters of the Great Lakes have provided her with a continuing source of inspiration, she said. A lifelong resident of Ludington, she studied at West Shore Community College and with various private instructors. She has exhibited in juried and invitational shows throughout the Great Lakes region, winning numerous awards. Her work is represented in public and private collections in North and South America, Scandinavia, Europe and the Middle East and Australia. Carlson is no longer actively painting so this is an amazing opportunity to view her works. The exhibit will include original drawings from her early years to paintings created toward the end of her career as an artist. Most pieces are on loan from private collections and are not for sale. However, a few key original works will be available for purchase.

The exhibit opens September 1, 2015 and will be on display through the end of October. The LACA Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. and all gallery exhibits are free and open to the public. Yvonne Carlson herself will be in attendance at a free artist reception, Friday, September 4, 2015 – from 5 to 7 p.m. Wine and light refreshments will be served.
