Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy said he may abandon his rotation policy in the League Cup after being drawn against Manchester United in the third round.
Town made seven changes for Tuesday's 4-1 second-round win at Doncaster.
"I've just answered a question, 'So you'll stick with the kids whatever the draw is?' and I said 'yes'. I'm not so sure now," he told BBC Radio Suffolk.
"There may be one or two of the first-teamers that want to play in that."
McCarthy's side, who lost in the Championship play-off semi-finals last season, are top of the table and unbeaten in six games in all competitions.
They needed extra time to beat League One side Doncaster, with David McGoldrick, 20-year-old debutant James Alabi and Ryan Fraser scoring in the additional 30 minutes to seal the victory.
Former Wolves and Republic of Ireland manager McCarthy said he will consider the timing of the Old Trafford tie and players coming back from injury before he decides on selection.
"I'll certainly have Teddy Bishop and Kevin Bru back, and hopefully a stronger squad," he said.
"It's a fabulous tie - I don't mind travelling to that one. I was worried we were going to get a League Two club a million miles from home when the pressure is on."
