David West
Top American NBA All Star basketball player David West is expected in the country this evening as part of this year's Surfline Ghana's Fastest Human (GFH) activities.

While in the country, West will be available for a special press conference at the Adidas House at Roman Ridge in Accra tomorrow and later move to the Aviation House to lead a basketball clinic same day.

On Wednesday, he and the Surfline Ghana's Fastest Human team will travel to Kumasi for another press conference to begin a four-week countdown for the finals of this year's 100m race slated for the Baba Yara Stadium.

The 34-year-old basketball star, who will leave on Sunday, will also be engaged in studio programs as well as journey to Cape Coast and Takoradi for tourism purposes.

Founder of Ghana's Fastest Human Reks Brobby said the initiative forms part of efforts to take the initiative, which seeks to revive athletics (100m) in the High Schools, to a level higher.

'We want to take the initiative a notch higher. It's been three years since we started and I can look back and say we are making progress. Thankfully, companies like Tecno, Standard Chartered Bank, headline sponsors of the first two editions, and most recently, Surfline and supported by GNPC, need commendation,' said Brobby.

West, with a height of 2.06m, is married to Lesley West and plays for San Antonio Spurs as a forward.

His visit is by courtesy of Sleek Media with support from GFH.

The Surfline Ghana's Fastest Human 100m heat is powered by Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).
