Scottville finance committee to discuss treasurer, 40 hour work week.

August 3, 2015

SCOTTVILLE — The city finance committee will meet Tuesday, August 4 at 4:30 p.m. at city hall to discuss the topics of separating the city manager and treasurer position and restoring city employees to a 40 hour work week.

Five years ago the city employees took a pay cut and reduction in hours to help save the city money. That included reducing the city hall to being open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and also employees working less than 40 hours a week.

The topic of restoring the treasurer position has been brought up at the past couple of city commission meetings. During Monday’s regular meeting of the commission, the topic was brought up again. City Manager Amy Williams has said previously that she believes the position could be part-time; she currently handles the duties of both manager and treasurer. Mayor Richard Maki said, during Monday’s meeting, that if the finance committee was going to discuss adding an additional employee that it should also discuss increasing the hours of the current city employees.

Committee meetings are open to the public.
