Japan music scene ‘less weird’ says Johnny Marr

Recorded music sales were worth about $15bn (£9.6bn) globally last year - and $3.3bn of those came from Asia.

Japan is easily the biggest market - and more and more of that total coming from digital streaming businesses like Spotify.

Johnny Marr - a founding member of groundbreaking 1980s British group The Smiths - has just been touring Asia, playing in Australia, Japan and in Singapore.

Simon Atkinson asked him whether the role of Asia had changed for international artists.
