‘Big Hero 6’ is first Friday night movie in Scottville.

big hero 6SCOTTVILLE — The third season of the Scottville Friday Night Movies series begins this Friday, July 31 with the animated film “Big Hero 6” at the Scottville Clown Band Shell.

“Big Hero 6” was released in 2014 by Walt Disney Animation Studios. It is the first Disney animated film to feature Marvel Comics characters and is a story of a young robotics prodigy named Hiro Hamada who forms a superhero team to combat a masked villain.

The movie will begin at dusk with live pre-movie music beginning at 8 p.m. with the duo of Chad Rushing and Zach Hubbard. The Scottville Optimist Club will be selling refreshments including popcorn, caramel corn, cotton candy and pop.

Moviegoers should bring blankets or chairs and bug spray. The Scottville Clown Band Shell is located on the Charles Thompson Memorial Green adjacent to the Scottville Optimist Club.

The series will continue over the next two weeks with “The Lego Movie” on August 7 and “The Boxtrolls” on August 14. Live pre-movie entertainment will also be featured at 8 p.m. for those two presentations.

The movies are free but donations are always welcome. Checks may be sent to Scottville Clown Band Shell, PO Box 21, Scottville, MI 49454. The band shell is operated jointly by the Scottville Clown Band, the Scottville Optimist Club and members of the community.
