STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an air quality health advisory for Tuesday.

The ozone alert, in effect until 11 p.m., is for Staten Island and the other boroughs of New York City and also Long Island, according to the State DEC website and the National Weather Service.

Temperatures expected to soar into the 90s with high humidity are contributing to air-quality issues.

Air pollution is most dangerous for people with respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. The state DEC suggests that all people limit strenuous outdoor physical activity.

"Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" is how the state DEC website lists the air quality for New York City and Long Island on Tuesday.

The toll-free number for air-quality information is 800-535-1345.
