WATCH: Real Madrid ‘architect’ Toni Kroos’ sensational assist in victory against Man City

Football fans were raving about a star performance as Real Madrid beat Manchester City 4-1 in their pre-season clash in Australia on Friday afternoon, but it wasn’t who you might think.

Not Ronadlo, not Bale, not Sterling, but Germany midfielder Toni Kroos.

The 25-year-old left Bayern Munich last summer as Bundesliga, German Cup and world champion, and quickly plugged the gap left by Xabi Alonso in a crucial central role at the Bernabeu.

While Real ended last season trohpyless, it was a decent campaign for the World Cup winning ‘architect’, who earned high praise on social media for a sensational assist to set up goal scorer Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid claimed the International Champions’ Cup as goals from Karim Benzema, Ronaldo, Pepe and Denis Cheryshev sealed an emphatic win against City.

Yaya Toure scored the Blues’ only goal from the penalty spot, but there was worrying signs for controversial summer signing Fabian Delph, who was stretchered off after just 20 minutes.

*Cough* karma *cough*
