SCOTTVILLE – Continuing with the Tuesday Night Concert Series, Awesome Distraction will take to the stage at the Scottville Clown Band Shell Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 7p.m.

Awesome Distraction formed in 2011 as a collaboration of the musical genius of Nick Veine, age 19 and Kyle Garber, age 18, both from Manistee. In 2013, Chloe Kimes, age 17 of Scottville joined the group and the talented trio was complete.

Influenced by such musicians as Johnny Cash, Simon and Garfunkel, Crosby, Stills & Nash and the Civil Wars, the band, for the most part, lands somewhere in the country/folk and bluegrass genres. Playing both original tunes and covers, they aren’t afraid to put their own spin on any song that tickles their fancy.

Each member of the band is a talented songwriter and each bring their own instrumental capabilities to the table, utilizing such instruments the guitar, mandolin, banjo, ukulele, harmonica, violin and cajon.  As a result, Awesome Distraction has two CDs that have been released to the public, the most recent being “Humbly Yours,” an album containing mostly original songs. Blending harmonious voices with fresh lyrics and exquisite acoustic sound, Awesome Distraction is truly living up to their name.

With upcoming gigs as far north as Boyne City, as far east as Midland and as far south as Lowell, the band’s notoriety in the lower peninsula is growing. For additional information regarding Awesome Distraction and their upcoming gigs, follow them on Facebook.
