Congratulations to Ariel Ragan, May’s DAISY Award Winner

Please join me in congratulating May’s DAISY Award winner, Medical Surgical RN Ariel Ragan. Like all nurses who receive a DAISY Award, Ariel is being singled out for the consistent quality service she provides her patients. But what makes Ariel’s case extraordinary is that she received back-to-back nominations from two separate individuals who wanted to make sure she was recognized for her exceptional care and kindness.

First, a patient who was recovering from surgery nominated Ariel because she felt touched by the genuineness of care and treatment she received from her. She lauded Ariel’s very thorough explanation of her recovery process and even suggested that Ariel would make a great physician if she ever decided to pursue a new career direction.

Just weeks after that nomination, Ariel was nominated again, this time by a patient’s sister who literally begged the hospital staff to recognize the level of care she provided. The nominator’s sister was recovering from the most recent of more than 60 surgeries, so she had plenty of experience with a variety of nurses and their individual approaches to patient care. The patient felt as though she was Ariel’s only patient, and that her care and kindness went above and beyond what she had experienced previously. They described her as “awesome,” and we couldn’t agree more!

Thank you, Ariel, for being part of the Cross Country family and representing us at such a high level of excellence.
