The campaign for Donald Trump's 2024 presidential bid has come up with a new way to raise cash — which involves calling on down-ballot candidates who use his name and likeness in fundraising pushes to give him a cut of the money they raise.
“Beginning tomorrow, we ask that all candidates and committees who choose to use President Trump’s name, image, and likeness split a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC. This includes, but is not limited to, sending to the house file, prospecting vendors, and advertising,” Trump co-campaign managers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita wrote in a letter reported on by Politico.
“Any split that is higher than 5% will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump’s campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations," the letter added.

According to reports, Trump is having trouble closing a fundraising gap with President Joe Biden, whose campaign has raised over $190 million, which is more than double what Trump has raised.
The letter was sent out the same week Trump's New York hush money criminal trial began, a hearing expected to last six to eight weeks which is expected to hamper his presence on the campaign trail since he's required to be in court for each session.
"Down-ballot Republican candidates and committees have long used Trump in fundraising appeals, recognizing that he has support among the party’s small-dollar fundraising base. But in the letter, Wiles and LaCivita reiterated their request that Republicans 'avoid' using certain 'language and tactics' while using Trump’s name, image and likeness," Politico's report stated.
The letter warns that, “Any vendor whose clients ignore the guidelines mentioned above will be held responsible for their clients’ actions,” and that, “Repeated violations will result in the suspension of business relationships between the vendor and Trump National Committee JFC. This includes list rental agreements.”

In her campaign for the U.S. Senate seat presently held by outgoing Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ), far-right MAGA Republican Kari Lake has recently been making an effort to soften her image.
Lake now claims she was speaking "in jest" when she told "McCain Republicans" to "get the hell out" of a GOP event, and she has come out against an Arizona Supreme Court ruling that makes an anti-abortion law from 1864 enforceable.
But Lake's critics, including conservative GOP activist Meghan McCain and likely general election opponent Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), have attacked her makeover attempt as insincere.
And McCain is calling Lake out for encouraging supporters to "strap on a Glock" during a recent speech in Havasu City, Arizona.
Lake told a crowd of supporters that "the next six months" are "going to be intense" and went on to say, "What do we want to strap on? We're going to strap on our — our seat belt. We're going to put on our helmet or your Kari Lake ball cap. We are going to put on the armor of God. Then, maybe strap on a Glock on the side of us just in case."

The U.S. Senate hopeful continued, "You can put one here and one in the back or one in the front — whatever you guys decide. 'Cause we're not going to be the victims of crime. We're not going to have our Second Amendment taken away. We're certainly not going to have our First Amendment taken away by these tyrants."
McCain had a scathing response in a Wednesday tweet, posting, "This is so irresponsible and dangerous of Kari Lake to say - but what else is new."
The conservative activist and former co-host of ABC's "The View" added, "She tries cosplay as some badass - but she’s just an ex Obama supporter with Vaseline slathered all over her camera doing a s—-y off the strip lounge singer imitation of Kelly Ann Conway."
Back in February, McCain made it abundantly clear that she won't be supporting Lake's Senate campaign.

On February 20, McCain tweeted, "Kari Lake is trying to walk back her continued attacks on my Dad (& family) and all of his loyal supporters after telling them to 'get the hell out'. Guess she realized she can't become a Senator without us. No peace, b—-. We see you for who you are - and are repulsed by it."

Gallagher announced he would not seek re-election in February after he refused to support the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Instead of stepping out of the post after the election, he decided to leave on April 19. Now, he's revealing details about the possible reason why.
"This is more just me wanting to prioritize being with my family," Gallagher reportedly said. "I signed up for the death threats and the late-night swatting, but they did not. And for a young family, I would say this job is really hard."
A local NBC News affiliate said spoke to the Brown County Sheriff's Office, which patrols the town in which Gallagher lives, and reported, "A case number was assigned late last year to a swatting incident related to the congressman."
The sheriff's office also reached out to U.S. Capitol Police and the investigation was handed over to federal authorities in January, according to the report.

An FBI spokesperson told the outlet Capitol Police is leading the investigation.
"Anytime a Member of Congress is the victim of a 'swatting' incident, we work closely with our local and federal law enforcement partners," the statement said. "To protect the ongoing investigations and to minimize the risk of copy-cats, we cannot provide more details at this time."
Fox News' Chad Pergram posted on the social media site X Wednesday that Gallagher might delay his April 19 departure.
"Gallagher may slightly delay his resignation to stick around for the weekend to help the House pass the now-released foreign aid package," wrote Pergram. "Fox is told there have been talks between Gallagher and House leaders about the need for his vote and the prospects of when he might make his resignation effective."
