tasmanian company turning PVC waste into various products

In George Town, Tasmania, Poly Marketing Pty. Ltd., trading as Envorinex, is taking PVC waste and converting the recycled material into a variety of products, ranging from noise abatement fencing, beehive foundations, matting, septic tanks, and even raised garden beds. In 2010 the Tasmania-based company noticed that more than 700 tons of PVC window frame profile off-cuts were being sent to Australian landfills annually. In Australia, most window profiles are imported from Europe and domestically fabricated in Australia, creating off-cuts that eventually get sent to landfills in Australia. Envorinex decided to create a recycling program that collects and reuses the PVC waste and incorporates it into the company’s products.

After testing, research, and development, Envorinex’s products have been deemed viable and the company has received government support, from subsidizing freight and transportation costs to funding for collection areas around Australia. This year, Envorinex has expanded and joined the PVC Recovery in Hospitals program to recycle PVC-based hospital products.
