The IBSF have announced that the Latvian Federation can no longer host the Championship in Riga due to 'circumstances beyond the Latvian Federation's control', and that the IBSF are looking for an alternative host. The event was due to run from 18th - 30th November. (Perhaps those dates are free on SWSA calendar?)

It seems that Latvia will now host the IBSF World Championships. It will be held in Daugavpils instead of Riga.

Now with new confirmed dates of 27th November to 8th December (exactly matching the dates of the UK Championship!)

I suspect the players will be pleased with the venue change, certainly very positive comments about it last year when the same venue held the European Championship - from the blog Michael McDonald did on his Championship experience comments included 'great city' and 'really impressed with the venue'. (Maybe they should take a PTC there?)

Apart from it having no lights above the tables? It was shocking. If it's the same again this year then I won't win. Can't see as it is.

Must admit I'd forgotten that ... looking back I can see a quote from Kev "Besides that in my opinion the tables wonderful and play very nice what a superb venue, fix the lighting and were on a winner here."
Don't know if they can do anything about it given the nature of the venue, here's hoping!
