- In their recent performance report, Data and Analytics Platforms 2021, KLAS Research evaluated vendors with broad analytics offerings and allowed them to identify their deepest platform adopters.

Through interviews regarding each vendor, KLAS validated the performance of each vendor across the five pillars of a data and analytics platform: data ingestion, data management, analytics, advanced analytics, and underlying components.

Among the fully-rated vendors were Cerner, Dimensional Insight, Epic, and Health Catalyst. The limited data vendors analyzed in the report were Alteryx, Arcadia.io, Clearsense, and Innovaccer. Additionally, Information Builders was featured as a non-rated vendor.

According to the report, Cerner, Epic, and Health Catalyst saw the deepest adoption among established analytics solutions. Deep adopters of Cerner validated the adoption of 100 percent of the basic platform capabilities and 86 percent of advanced capabilities.

“Customers highlight Cerner’s data-ingestion capabilities and services and describe them as a standout strength for the vendor. Deep adopters report deeper advanced analytics adoption than some other customer bases, with most leveraging predictive, prescriptive, and geospatial analytics,” the KLAS report stated.

For Epic, 100 percent of the basic capabilities have been adopted by at least one of Epic’s deep adopters. As for advanced capabilities, natural language processing (NLP) and system return on investment (ROI) calculation have yet to be validated.

With similar success, all three of Health Catalyst’s deep adopters use the vendor to aggregate clinical, financial, and operations data, reporting broad adoption of the advanced platform capabilities.

Among the newcomers, Innovaccer has the deepest adoption and Alteryx leads in high-focus areas of functionality and outcomes.

“Deep adopters of Innovaccer report high adoption across all key pillars except advanced analytics. Compared to other customer bases, Innovaccer clients report deeper adoption of underlying components—all interviewed deep adopters are using FHIR, APIs, analytics process automation, operationalization of analytics, and security features,” the report stated.

Additionally, deep adopters reported the adoption of 100 percent of the basic capabilities. The adopters noted that in addition to InData, the vendor-provided various population health management applications, creating meaningful care insights.

For Alteryx, the report highlights the vendor’s success in both functionality and driving tangible outcomes. Customers said that the software allows the use of multiple programs and can be used enterprise-wide.

“Several customers report achieving high value with Alteryx because the solution is scalable, eliminates the need for some third-party tools, and helps drive tangible outcomes by improving staff efficiency,” the report stated.

However, Alteryx’s artificial intelligence capabilities received mixed reviews, with adopters reporting the system does not meet all needs.

In the Vendor Insights section of the report, vendors were rated based on Customer Satisfaction in six categories (Culture, Loyalty, Operations, Product, Relationship, Value) and Capability Validation. For Customer Satisfaction among fully rated vendors, Cerner received a 76.9 out of 100, Dimensional Insight received a 93.1, Epic received a 90.1, and Health Catalyst received an 86.2.

Comparatively, Customer Satisfaction scores of limited data vendors were Alteryx with 90.9, Arcadia.io with 86.3, Clearsense with 85.8, and Innovaccer with 87.7.
