Youth Participant Application

Instructions:
To apply, candidates must submit the following materials:

(1) Completed application form including all short answers; and

Résumé or 1-page summary of your work and volunteer experiences (including extracurricular activities, areas of study, employment and volunteer positions); and
At least one (1) letter of recommendation from a primary reference who would be available for a phone interview during the week of June 11. Up to two (2) additional references or letters of recommendation will be considered. References or letters of recommendation from the candidate’s immediate family members will not be considered. Letters of recommendation should be sent to critchfield@juvjustice.org.

Candidates will participate in a two-day institute that is scheduled to take place in Scottsdale, Arizona on July 24-26.

Please note due to the volume of responses anticipated, we are unable to acknowledge each application received.

Applications are due Friday, May 18 at 11:59pm EDT (10:59pm CDT, 9:59pm MDT, 8:59 pm PDT). Candidates may be selected for a phone interview during the review process. If a candidate is selected for an interview, the candidate will be contacted directly. Candidates who are interviewed will be notified of final decisions by June 20, 2018.

For purposes of this application, previous and current involvement with law enforcement or in the juvenile justice system may include positive and negative encounters with police in the community, arrest, citation, diversion, probation, detention, commitment, residential placement, incarceration, aftercare/parole, mentoring, and engagement at the scene of violence, or referral to community services/treatment.
