95% of the people who are incarcerated will return to our communities one day. The Center for Conflict Resolution's MAKE IT RIGHT program helps people, who are 180 days or less from release, gain skills for successful re-entry. MAKE IT RIGHT helps family members and other people with a positive influence know how to best support their success.

MAKE IT RIGHT has 3 main components: 1) Ten sessions of Conflict Resolution and Restorative Justice Training inside the prison. 2) Circle Processes during the 10 sessions for engaging residents in self-reflection and to make future plans. 3) A Re-entry Circle Conference for each resident involving family members and other people who commit to supporting them when they are released.

We just completed the 4th session with a group of 20 men and it has been amazing. They are reading 'The Little Book of Restorative Justice' by Howard Zehr, participating in discussions about past behavior and changed behavior and becoming prepared for success upon release.

This project was started with a small amount of seed money from a family foundation. With your support we can complete the training sessions and hold the re-entry conferences at the prison. Working with the Federal Public Defender's Office, CCR will be able to follow-up with each former offender to evaluate individual successes of the participants, many of whom will return to the Kansas City area.
