KANSAS CITY — Valentine’s Day is on its way, and restaurants are celebrating with new sweet treats that fit the theme.
Paying homage to pairs, Dunkin’ is debuting a new donut featuring two different fillings in one. The chain’s new Cookie Dough & Brownie Batter Double Filled Donut is a square-shaped pastry stuffed with both brownie batter-flavored buttercreme and cookie dough-flavored filling that is topped with chocolate icing and crumbled pie topping.
“In the spirit of celebrating couples coming together, Dunkin’ is putting a pair in a square with its new Cookie Dough & Brownie Batter Double Filled Donut, its first donut featuring two fillings,” Dunkin’ said.
The restaurant chain also is observing the day of love by decorating its frosted donuts with new Bling Sprinkles, a topping that consists of glittery red and pink sprinkles mixed with pink heart-shaped sprinkles.
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is evoking the iconic candy conversation hearts often eaten on Valentine’s Day in its new Conversation Doughnuts. Topped with pink, yellow, green and purple frosting and more than a dozen new and traditional phrases — including “All the feels,” “Be mine” and “DM me” — the donuts feature four different fillings: cake batter, strawberries and crème, raspberry, and chocolate crème.
“Finding the right word can be like, I don’t know … hard. But eating a donut is easy,” said Dave Skena, chief marketing officer for Krispy Kreme. “So, we printed the right words on the donuts for you so you can’t mess this up.”
Two new Tim Hortons donuts hearken back to the holiday with heart shapes. The Chocolate Be Mine Donut is a heart-shaped, venetian crème-filled donut dipped in chocolate fondant and topped with red shimmer sprinkles, while the Vanilla Be Mine Donut is a heart-shaped, raspberry jam-filled donut dipped in vanilla fondant and topped with red shimmer sprinkles.
“Sharing is caring, and what better way to show your valentine you care than with a donut,” said Shawn Thompson, president of Tim Hortons U.S. “We encourage guests to share love and donuts with their sweetheart this Valentine’s Day with our Chocolate and Vanilla Be Mine Donuts.”
Baskin-Robbins hooked up with Hershey to serve new treats featuring Hershey’s kisses for Valentine’s Day.
The new Cherry Cordial with Kisses Ice Cream features Hershey’s chocolate ice cream with mini Hershey’s Kisses and a cherry ribbon served in a chocolate-dipped waffle cone with heart-shaped sprinkles.
The Love & Kisses Sundae features scoops of Cherry Cordial with Kisses ice cream, Love Potion 31 ice cream and Very Berry Strawberry ice cream all topped with marshmallow, hot fudge, strawberry topping, whipped cream, chopped almonds and Hershey’s Kisses.
