Nominate Your School For #MyTopCollege 2016

This article is more than 7 years old.

Do you go to the only college on its own island (Texas A&M, Corpus Christi)? Is your university home to a 5,000-pound elephant statue (Tufts University)? What about that time you participated in the Pterodactyl Hunt (Swarthmore College), Silent Night (Taylor University) or THON dance fundraiser (Pennsylvania State University)?

What are the best and most cherished connections you made at your school? Show us.

Starting Monday, July 11, Forbes is launching its third annual #MyTopCollege social media contest. For the next four weeks, we are challenging students, alumni, parents and staff to share social posts that showoff their school spirit and, especially, what is most unique about their schools.

This year, we are looking specifically at the theme of “connections.” Whether that connection is between you and your friends and alumni network, your dorm or favorite spot on campus, or community service or study abroad experiences, we want to see how your school has connected you to different and meaningful opportunities and people.

Each week, we will post updates about the participating schools in a colorful leaderboard. You can check your school’s progress through this interactive map broken down by regions across the country on our hub for updates. It will also regularly showcase new submissions – and some of your posts could make it into FORBES magazine.

On August 4, 2016, we will crown three schools – a small, medium and large one – as the Forbes #MyTopCollege champions.

Here are the guidelines:

  1. You have just four weeks: Submissions will be accepted between July 11 and August 3, 2016.
  2. Tag your school: To be eligible, each post must include the hashtag #MyTopCollege along with the school’s Twitter handle.
  3. Photos rule: Pictures and other visuals are highly encouraged. It’s more personal and brings your college to life. Glamour campus shots are nice but we like to see people, too.
  4. We're multiplatform: Posts from the following platforms will be considered: Twitter, Instagram, Vine, Facebook and Pinterest.
  5. Take care: Pictures and posts must be appropriate to a general audience.
  6. Winning lessons: 2016's #MyTopCollege champs will be selected by our editors based both on quantity and quality. We want to see huge participation and also creativity and originality. Spamming may result in elimination.
  7. UGC: Once you submit, you grant FORBES non-exclusive rights to the nomination (see Terms of Service here).

Here are some examples of great posts from last year’s contest:

Students from one of last year’s champs, California State University, Fullerton, have already wowed us this summer with their school spirit. What will happen to their title in 2016?

Let the games begin, and happy posting!
