The tiny EcoSport is a stark contrast with the big, brawny F-150 Raptor

The new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor and its fearsome engine are on display at the 2017 Montreal Auto Show along with the equally new Ford EcoSport sub-compact SUV, which was announced last November in Los Angeles.

Even more powerful and rugged than its predecessor, the F-150 Raptor now utilizes a second-generation 3.5L EcoBoost V6 that produces 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque via a new 10-speed automatic transmission for maximum efficiency. It can adapt to any and all road conditions and does so in style with a very aggressive-looking and muscular body. The latter is made of aluminum (similar to the regular F-150), which results in a weight saving of about 500 lbs.

Meanwhile, the 2018 Ford EcoSport is taking on an extremely fast-growing market segment, namely sub-compact SUVs and crossovers. Its sporty lines conceal a surprisingly spacious cabin that will appeal to urban consumers who want to live life fully and do more with less, the company claims. It offers the choice of a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost or a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine.

We must remind you, however, that the Ford EcoSport will start arriving at dealerships in the first quarter of 2018 only.
