Luna Mora Festival in Guaro 2019 – All you need to know

In Guaro will take place on 6 and 7 in September the Luna Mora Festival.

This event of 2 days is a free meeting place of Andalusian culture and music with streets decorated for the occasion; a mixture of cultures that have lived together and shaped this town over the centuries and during these days offer visitors a good excuse to come visit.

No to forget the typical candles lit along the streets of the town, creating a beautiful sight at night; some romantic shapes where many couples decide to take the photo to immortalise the moment.

The edition of the Luna Mora Festival for 2020 has been suspended due Covid-19 in Malaga.

Luna Mora en Guaro
My son had much fun strolling the streets of Guaro during the Luna Mora.

During the night numerous stalls offer food at good prices.

We are waiting for the program to update this year, until then you can have an idea reading the last year program.

Getting there

To get there, there is normally an open-air car park just before arriving to Guaro from Coin. From the parking lot there is a bus that will take you up to the village and then back for 1€. This special means of transport will run during the days of the event from 6 pm to 5 am.

The road route is through Coin. Remember that access by road will be restricted from Monda, so you must use the road to Coín.

Transfers from the airport

If you don’t have your own vehicle and still planning your visit you can rent a car in Malaga. Another option is a transfer to Guaro, I personally used malagatransfer.co.uk, and can recommend it; there is no option for Guaro but you can contact them for requesting it or select Coin which is near the parking place to have an idea of the approximate price.

I asked about access for disabled people and they told me the bus can’t deploy the ramps because lack of space. You should have to get there before 6 pm by car as after that time access to Guaro is closed to vehicles.

As personal note the best time to get there is around 7 pm, and the best time to get out avoiding long queues is around 10 pm.
