Love is war when shadows play games with the heart. In this thrilling romance from the USA Today bestselling author of Stone Walls and Glass Ceilings, a decorated veteran facing the darkest battlefield finds a guiding light to trust and tenderness.

A real hero can protect and serve, but a true hero knows how to love.

David Cavello is no longer in uniform, but the memories of combat still haunt his every waking moment. Driven to protect and serve, he accepts an undercover job he has to keep hidden from everyone. But David’s mission goes against orders the second he makes contact with gorgeous and spirited Maygen Whitney. The intense attraction he feels for Maygen drives him crazy—almost as crazy as he feels about hiding information from her.

But when Maygen most needs a hero, David leaps into action—intent on doing whatever it takes to save the woman he loves.

David Cavello is no longer in uniform, but he is reminded every day of the horrors of war. Suffering PTSD he tries to learn live with his demons. That is until the day a job has him literally running into a beautiful blonde name Maygen.

For some reason, this little blonde calms his nerves and helps his PTSD. David knows getting closer to her is dangerous, especially when the secrets he is keeping would have her running from his arms. When the truth comes to light David is left alone with his regret and Maygen is left picking up the pieces of her heart.

Can Maygen find it in her heart to forgive and take a second chance on David, or will the sting of his betrayal stay with her forever?

While I enjoyed this book a lot, it just didn't pack the emotional punch I was hoping for. It was well written for sure. The characters were likable. I really felt for David and all his issues with PTSD. We also have a nice cast of secondary characters (the couple from the previous book feature heavily in this one). There is some nice relationship angst without any OW/OM drama.

My problem was that is just seemed to DRAG on, and on. I found my mind wandering A LOT through the middle of this one. My other issue was the mystery part just never seemed fully developed. Just from reading the blurb you can easily figure out what the betrayal is going to be, so when it came it wasn't a surprise at all. The following stalker storyline almost felt thrown in to justify the betrayal. I just never bought into it. Not to mention I felt it was wrapped up pretty darn easily.

Overall, I enjoyed the writing and the characters and just wish it had been a bit shorter and the stalker storyline more developed.

I remember loving the first book of the series and I was sure that I'd love this one too. So did! I first discovered A.M. Madden when I read her Back Up series, which I thought was fantastically entertaining. She hasn't steered me wrong yet!

This story is about David, a war vet battling PTSD, and how by letting in a ray of sunshine named Maygen, she would brighten up his "dark corners". She made battling his demons a whole lot easier. Both characters were well-developed and extremely likable. David was a hot and sexy, brooding Alpha with a lot of heart. Pretty soon we also realize he was passionate, considerate, honourable, protective and loving. Maygen was beautiful, driven, compassionate and caring. Their relationship was at once steady and combustible.

This story had plenty of drama, whether through outside influences or internal struggles. It also has a suspenseful element that added another tempting layer to the plot to keep things interesting. With adorable side characters and plenty of witty banter, this book deserves every one of its four stars!!

So far, this is the best of the sandalone series. Despite the heavy subject of PTSD that David suffers, he was very charming. The banter with him and Maygen was fun and I wanted more of it. If we didn't have such a heavy subject weighing it down, I would have had lots of fun with this story. Maygen was a great heroine. She was strong, independent and truly there for David when he suffered. She also knew when to back off, which I greatly appreciate in a heroine. Clingy women are one of my pet peeves and I was glad to see that while she was there for him, she also knew her own boundaries. There was no other women or men drama to deal with, no cheating, but not a small amount of pushing away from David due to his PTSD. Despite the pushing away, this was a very good story. SYNOPSIS:
A real hero can protect and serve, but a true hero knows how to love.

But when Maygen most needs a hero, David leaps into action—intent on doing whatever it takes to save the woman he loves.

MY THOUGHTS:
I love this True Hero’s series, but so far, this is my favorite book ! It can be read as a standalone, the characters from the previous books are involved in this story, but it’s not necessary to know the history, it just adds a richness to the overall story.

David and Maygen are amazing together! The story had twists I didn’t see coming so I was surprised quite a few times as the story unfolded! There are so many feels in this book. I had the stomach plummets, the heart burn and a lump in my throat. I loved every minute of it and I couldn’t put it down.

Maygen is an awesome heroine. She is strong, loving, feisty and isn’t afraid to fight for David, until he betrays her trust. David is working through PTSD on his own, refusing to take medication and therapy until he figures out he can’t live without his light (Maygen) to light his dark corners. He returns to therapy and tries to win Maygen back, even if is just as a friend because he needs her in his life.

I won’t tell you anymore and I highly recommend this book. It has suspense, great banter, colorful friends and family to add spice to story, steamy sexy times, and a sweet love story.

I've been a fan of AM Madden since her very first book, Back-Up...and this is my absolute FAVORITE so far. Her writing started off wonderfully and it's evolved into spectacular!
The way her words flow is captivating. Her characters are so down to earth, and exceptionally well written that it's so easy to connect with them on all levels.
David Cavello, ex-military is such a sweetheart. He's kind, generous, alpha and possessive. Love that mix. Easy to growl MINE and just as easy to flash a sexy smile.
But like a lot of war veterans he struggles. He's unsure of himself...it's so easy to feel broken, cracked, flawed, not "normal"...and you just want to love him and hug him and never let him go.
Maygen, wealthy, determined, beautiful and a real sweetheart. She doesn't let her privilege get in the way of her humanity. These two fall...and fall hard. The story line is phenomenal...and it's not just a cutesie love story...oh no...not from AM Madden. LOL
She's got that cray cray going, and she does it SO well.
I can't say enough about her first series...and Hunter will always have a place in my heart, but her True Heroes Series has been over the top. From Ben Stone to Nick Farley and now David Cavello...and I love how they all intertwine. Do you need to read each to understand the other? nah...not really...but I don't know why you wouldn't want to. Start with Ben Stones story in Stone Walls and then meet Nick Farley in Glass Ceilings (Coming SOON) and then top it all off this fall with her best yet Dark Corners.... sigh...
Love Love Love..

"A damaged man who wants to be whole again."

Damn. She went and did it, again . A.M. Madden wrote about the character I most wanted to get to know, David ...sigh. It's the broken ones that I'm especially drawn to, and though these are Maygen's words, I feel exactly the same way. "The brooding confused man who was slowly stealing my heart piece by piece." is an accurate description of how I felt reading this book. The author let me into his thoughts, his dreams, his fears, his anguish, and his passion. And can I just say, he ruined me. I'm going to have a very hard time finding another BBF who can come close to taking his place. And um...this particular 'True Hero' also has the physical attributes that do it for me. I'm all about a big, muscular man more than one in a suit, so let's just say that if I was reading a paperback, there would be some dog-eared pages.

I met David in Glass Ceilings. He is Angela's brother. I only got a tiny taste of him, but it was enough to whet my appetite for more. I was so thrilled when I found out the next book in the series would be about him. Sometimes the buildup can end in disappointment when we anticipate something that might not be able to live up to our expectations. However; I must say, Dark Corners far exceeded them. It is my favorite in the series, so far. Yes, I know. I'm guilty of having said that before, and then having to eat my words when the next one comes out and knocks it out of the part. But, as I mentioned previously, this one is special, he's broken and beautiful and I'm claiming him as my favorite 'True Hero'.

Okay, I guess I can't keep him completely to myself, so I'll share him with you. David is a war hero, rather than a law enforcement hero. Being a protective big brother, he couldn't stay away when his sister's life was in danger. He willfully stepped into the danger surrounding her, willing to sacrifice himself to keep her safe. That's just the kind of man he is, putting his country and his family first. But he paid a price. He's carrying some permanent reminders that he's struggling to manage. Now that he's home, and not focusing all of his energy on survival, his demons are taking over. He's a loner, preferring his own company rather than social settings and crowds. Well, at least he did... until her. She made him rethink the alone part once she crashed into his life... literally.

Maygen is a reluctant 'daddy's girl'. She is being smothered by her father's over-protectiveness. She wants to spread her wings and live her life without his constant hovering and insistence on knowing her every move. She tolerates his intrusive gestures to an extent, because she loves him and knows he feels the same way. She's been raised in the lap of luxury, but she's not a diva. She's a hard worker that gives 100% to her job, her friends, and her family. She works for a very reputable fashion designer and loves it, even if it is very high pressure and sucks all of her time. She's happy and content with her life. At least she thought she was, until she crashed into him... literally.

When they crashed, there was an instant connection that even I felt, through the pages of my kindle. I'm tempted to start stalking coffee shops and throwing myself into the path of handsome strangers just to see if lightning can strike twice. It might result in a hefty dry cleaning expense, but hey, it's probably cheaper than an online dating service, right? And there's no guarantee that even if the other person felt the sparks, they would give into it. At least that's what happened to David. He felt it, but he denied it. Fighting is what he knows, and he tried to fight it. Telling her that, "We are from different worlds, beautiful. I don't belong in yours, and you're too good to belong in mine."

Good luck with that, huh? Wait until you get your hands on this masterpiece. The sexual tension builds as he tries to do what he thinks is right. But that's not all he thinks. OMG! Wait till you read what he thinks. You better have a fire extinguisher nearby. He shares what he's thinking , and then when he gets around to the doing all bets are off and the firetrucks might not get there fast enough to save your kindle. You have been warned. Read with caution. And then, read it again, cuz it's that good (wink-wink).

As with each True Heroes installment, there are twists and turns and hidden clues and underlying mysteries waiting to be revealed. There is danger and suspense and glimpses into the future to build the anticipation for the next hero. But she doesn't tell us who he/she is... I got my wish with David, so I'll keep him and let you have the next one. But there are still many colorful characters that I'd like to get to know better, and my inquiring mind is full of ideas about the ongoing investigation. I can't wait. The line forms here...

Aaand... she did it again.

I've read and loved every single A.M. Madden book. And those of you who follow my reviews know that my all time BBF is Trey. Well, at least he was until I read this latest page turner. Now he can proudly share the first place with David Cavello. His incredible and heartbreaking story is told in Dark Corners. The book is intriguing and entertaining, heartbreaking and romantic, suspenseful and funny. There is something for everyone in it.

David is the type of guy that every woman dreams of. He is gentleman when he is in public. But the moment there are no eys on him or he is in the privacy of home, he becomes god in the bedroom and anywhere else you would like him to be ;) But he is also haunted by demons that make it impossible for him to get close to anyone. Even his own family. But that all changes once he meets Maygen. She is a ray of light in his darkness and probably the only person who can bring a smile to his face without even trying.

And that's when all the danger and drama come into play. But if you think that is is just going to be another suspenseful romance, you would be dead wrong. The are such twists in this story that your head will be spinning for hour after that :D

So, if I have to summarise, this is an amazing book. Both, Maygen and David, are characters carrying their own demons and fears but at the same time their perfect for each other. but that doesn't make their path to HEA an easy one. It is actually a dangerous and heartbreaking journey that will grab you from the very start and immerse you in their story. So get ready and pick up a copy of this page turner the first chance you get ;)

Both main characters, David and Maygen

Dark Corners is an emotional contemporary romance with a side of suspense added in for flavor.  The story is real and relatable.  It’s emotional and confusing just like real life.  I enjoy the broken hero who feels he doesn’t deserve love trope, so this book really worked for me.  There are dual conflicts that bring a bit of drama, mystery, and suspense to the novel.
I only had a couple minor critiques.  The story was a little bit redundant at times.  Also, the major conflict and resolution seemed a little too neat and convenient for me, but I let that slide.
Overall, this is a solid read.  It's well written, has a great storyline, and the characters are well-developed.  Safety:  Violence, No cheating, No abuse between H/h.
I rate it:  4 Crazy Love Stars.  I’d recommend to readers who enjoy Romance, Suspense, and Military Romances.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy via NetGalley.

This is the second book I have read in the True Heroes series, and boy was it great! I have a special place in my heart for a broken vet that finds his way back from the darkness and finds love. David was a perfectly broken hero that quickly captured my heart! I cheered, I yelled, I chuckled, I was happy and I got mad at some points. I started this book and didn't stop until I finished. I couldn't stand to put down David and his demons. Our heroine, Maygan, was a smart, independent and very patient heroine that thankfully didn't have any TSTL moments!

However, David was the character that won my heart in this book. I think the way Ms. Madden took the very tough subject of PTSD and didn't make it go away instantly with love, because it doesn't. I appreciated the fact that she gave the reader the opportunity to watch the pain PTSD can cause, as well as the tough rode to healing, if a person can even heal. Sometimes healing isn't an option, sometimes just coping is the only option.

The story was hot without being crass, it was loving without being over the top, there was pain without an instant solution, it all took time; and for me, made me feel the story so much more. Everything wasn't neat and tidy in just a couple of pages..

So back to my thoughts, David was flawed, he made stupid errors in judgement that had me wanting to throw my phone against a wall (that's the highest compliment when I get so mad I want to hurl my phone, that means I am invested!). Maygan stuck to her guns, she fought for what she wanted, and didn't want...all the while I was investing in this fictional couple and series even more. The storyline worked for me! The twist in the middle of the book threw me for a loop (phone hurl loop), and then the plot twist at the end had me going...what the heck? I loved the secondary characters and they all added value to the story.

Generally, I rarely do I rate a book higher than 3 stars because it has to have a lot in it to get me to give it stars...I have to have a hero I love, a heroine that isn't TSTL, a fairly believable plot, and a HEA that makes me feel like the journey was worth it!

The only reason I didn't give this five stars, was I wanted a HEA, or an epilogue that went more into the future. I wanted to see what happened to David and Maygan down the rode. That's my only complaint. I definitely liked this book and would recommend to others! I can't wait for Luca's book, which is what I suspect is next! Pick up this series and give it a shot. I don't think you will be disappointed!

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

In this book we finally learn David story and we are introduced Maygen. David has been dealing with PTSD since he returned from the war. David hasn't figured out how to deal with man things in his life so when he meets Maygen by literally running into her he knows she is something special. There is just something about her that calms him in a way he hasn't felt since before he joined the military. David wants to figure out what this is but is worried that his episodes might drive a wedge between them or worse really hurt her. The problem he is facing is even though he wants to push her away he wants to pull her close. The other problem he is having is David has more than one secret he hasn't told Maygen about. Can a relationship work between these two or will the secrets drive them apart?

Maygen has been coddled since her mom was killed when she was little. Here dad became very over protective and even thought she is all grown up and no longer living his house he still treats her like a child. So when Maygen starts to find out some of the secrets that are in her family she feel let down and betrayed by all the men she trusts the most David included. Maygen wants David but isn't sure she can get over his hurt and betrayal. To make matters worse there is someone out to get her and no one knows who it is. Can Maygen find a way to get over the hurt David caused and let him back in her life? Will she live long enough to make that happen?

This is an amazing story about love, loss, and forgiveness. These characters each have to learn to deal with the loss of someone close to them. I like how this author talks about PTSD and how there isn't a quick fix to what is happening in a persons mind while they go through this. I liked how it showed what can happen to a partner of someone who has this. Over all this is a story that will have you on the edge of your seat from the first word to the very end. There is so much that goes on in this book but as a reader I like to discover things for myself and I will leave that for you as well. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

Dark Corners by A.M. Madden is a deeply intense, sexy and suspenseful story. From the beginning of Dark Corners A.M. took me on a twisty adventure through heartache, pain, love and lust.

Dark Corners is a perfect addition to the Everyday Heroes series. David and Maygen's story was incredible. My love and connection to the characters was instant. From the off A.M weaves a story with so much fire. Fire that starts as a bright spark, that begins to sizzle more fiercely before blooming into huge flames, hot to the touch.

David is wicked! I assure you that you will LOVE THIS MAN! He's raw, possessive, dominant, strong, sex and pure sin. He's alpha male personified.
Maygen exceeded my expectations, she was fun, strong, sassy and down to earth despite seeming to initially be a perfect princess!
Put together, David and Maygen are HOT. In every aspect. They have an undeniable connection. I lived and breathed every feeling they both felt. My heart ached for David, his past and his expectations on his future, it ached for Maygen and her struggles to live as she wanted. In finding each other they found themselves more and more and I FELT THAT.

However a lurking presence filled me as it did the book. A.M kept me guessing all the time, throwing out twists and turns to push me off course. I never expected, what actually happened was going to happen, the shocking intense way the story plays out is utterly captivating. I don't think I could read fast enough.

Although fast paced, Dark Corners never felt rushed. Everything was played out to perfection. A.M’s writing is addictive, her story perfectly balanced. Dark Corners is now my favourite of the whole Everyday Heroes series and my FAVE book of A.M. Madden's!! (Sorry Jack)!

If there's anything that A.M. Madden can do best is creating amazing, sexy men that every woman would want by her side. After Ben and Nick I really didn't think that she'll be able to create another man that will capture my heart BUT she did it, and did it soooo good!
David Cavello
(Sexy) David is a war vet who spent a few deployments in Iraq. After seeing his best friend getting shot in the head in front of him, he's going through a meltdown and leaves the army.
David suffers from PTSD and while trying to handle his new life as a citizen, his friend's death follows him everywhere. The one thing that helps him is Maygen.
They meet by accident and their immediate strong connection is very hard to ignore. They started to date and David finds himself open up to her. He wants to tell her everything about his life but there is one thing that he just can't share, not yet…
Maygen can't handle secrets or dishonesty, so when she finds out that David, one of the few people who she really trusts, keeping this big secret from her - everything changes!
David's story touched me in so many ways. I have a very soft spot for soldiers and after being a soldier myself, I know PTSD first hand. I wanted to hug him this whole time and promise him that everything's going to be ok.
This is a story about love, forgiveness, trust and so many struggles that your heart will work overtime.
A.M. did an amazing job showing us those struggles during everything David and maygen went through 'till their HEA. She's also made me pee in my pants with her wittiness :-)
I can't wait for the next TRUE HERO to come along… I'll be waiting…

This is absolutely not the typical story of a spoiled little rich girl who gets swept off her feet by the sexy, hunky bodyguard. It is actually the antithesis of that model for a story, although those elements are there. Dark Corners is far meatier than that! This book takes you to unexpected places and evokes a variety of emotions. I didn't always love Maygen, and my feelings for David wavered throughout the story, based on where HIS emotions were leading him. I actually enjoyed the range of emotions I felt while reading this story because it meant that I was really connecting to these characters. I also loved the unpredictability of the story. I've read all of Ann Marie's books and sometimes, after reading many of one particular author's books, you become very familiar with the directions he/she usually takes in a story. For me, this reinforced what I kind of already knew. Ann Marie is a very versatile writer and she has assured her readers that, although the genre may stay the same, each of her stories are unique and intriguing. I loved this story and I will continue to read any and all of Ann Marie's books.
**non-spoiler little tattle** As a special treat, in the conclusion of Dark Corners, Ann Marie introduces some very interesting new characters that I believe we will meet in future books in this series. I hope so!!

David Cavello is a perfectly broken hero you'll instantly fall in love with. You'll want to hold him, heal him, and make him yours for life. But you can't, because he's mine.

The characters and storyline in Dark Corners have so much depth, heart, and complexities that, as a reader, you can't help but connect with them. David is the loyal former military hero who has his sights set on one person. Maygen. She sweet, feisty, and the kind of person you'd want as your best friend.

From the first word until the last, you'll be captivated by this book and unable to figure out the secrets, twists, and turns until the exact moment A.M. decides it's time. Perfectly executed and impossible not to feel, the laughs, tears, and heartwarming moments will stay with you long after you read this book.

I have a new #1 BBF. David really is a hero. I love the way a A. M. Madden shows the evolution of a character. David is very broken emotionally, but it's evident that he doesn't want to live in the dark and his struggle to forget is heartbreaking. Maygen is a breath of fresh air. She's a stong female character who has a great life and is not even looking for a man. Yet when David literally not sure on her ass the instant connection cannot be denied. A.m. Madden has proven to be an exceptional writer time and time again.

This is a good book. It's about a vet that has watched his best friend get shot and die and is fighting a battle with PTSD. He meets this girl who he decides he really likes but he has some serious concerns and fears.

Maygen is the daughter of a well-known PR firm owner and right hand to a pretty famous designer. When she literally runs into David while leaving the coffee shop she doesn't know what she's in for. Both good and bad.

This story starts a bit slow and has some lulls here and there but really picks up toward the last third of the book. It's a great story of love and friendship and overcoming challenges.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is David's story, who we met in the previous book in this series as Angela's brother. Now finished in the armed forces he's trying to get his life back on track, taking a degree in psychology but his PTSD is holding him back. He's a toured hero plagued with nightmares of his time at war.

Then he meets Maygen and she brings light back into his life. Beautiful, independent and stubborn she keeps him on his toes, but our tortured hero struggles with his insecurities that she's too good for him and the baggage he comes with.

I found this book to be a different pace to A.M. Madden's usual work, I found it to be quite slow paced for a good three quarters of the book and then, bam, plot twist I didn't see coming. The last 25% was more in keeping with A.M. Madden's usual writing style, lots of action and intense and emotional scenes. I'm rating this book a lot lower than I usually rate her books because of the very slow start, honestly I struggled with it in parts. I loved the last quarter and the ending, I enjoyed the involvement of characters from previous books who's stories I was incredibly invested in. But with this one I just didn't connect. It could have been down to the slow start or it could just have been me, I'm not ruling that out, it's a strong possibility that I just wasn't in the mindset to read this book at this time and that hindered my enjoyment. I can only rate it based on my experience but if you are following this series then no doubt you'll be intrigued by David from the last book and his involvement in Angela's story. He's definitely a character that evokes your sympathy and you want to know more about him and understand him better.

That being said A.M. Madden is still one of my favourite authors and someone whose books I always tend to recommend, if you follow her work then you need to read this to complete the story of this group of characters. If you're yet to read her books then definitely give this series a go, start with book one though as although each book is about a different main character, this series as a whole is about a group of characters and they feature in each others books. I think I probably would have benefitted from rereading the previous book where David was introduced so that the connection I felt to David's character was still there to carry me through, I think possibly if I had my experience reading this book would have been different.

The only thing I could think of when I finished Dark Corners was “I love David!” I still love Jack, as he was my first Madden hero, but David is probably my favorite of all her other men. His damaged soul just called out to me... I love my damaged and tortured heroe and ‘tortured’ definitely describes David Cavello. He is the type of hero you instantly fall in love with and want to do nothing but hug him, showing him you want to be there for him.

Maygen is feisty, always ready with a witty comeback, but she’s also sweet and a great friend, someone who you’d definitely want to meet and be around. Coming from a rich family and being protected by those who love her have not turned her into a snob, rather, she knows and appreciates what she has and looks down on no one.

The story grabs you and takes you into a world where the tortured souls want to find a way out of their darkness and the ones who love them are willing to do anything to help them find their light. The characters are full of complexities and huge hearts, making them real and easy to connect with.

I especially loved the way the relationship between David and Maygen developed. With his condition, it was understood that he would have issues opening up and I appreciated reading about the progression, not making it an insta-love where he just opened up like nothing was wrong. Her patience and willingness to be there for him just made me like her even more.

This story wasn’t predictable and kept me wondering what would happen with these two people who clearly loved each other yet had issues to resolve if they wanted to be together.

I laughed, I teared up a bit, and I was more than satisfied when I got to the last page. A.M. Madden continues to give us amazing stories with complex and believable characters that will stay with us long after The End is reached.

I received a copy of the book from the author for an honest review.

If you've read Author A.M. Madden before you know this True Heroes series is a different from her Devil's Lair series. The obvious being one is about law enforcers of some type verses a band. It's great to see an author can write about two different tropes and still do well with the storylines.

In this edition of True Heroes we have David who is a war vet that suffers from PTSD and is a student studying psychology. David's brother-in-law is a FBI Agent and thus in return David knows some of the staff as well.

Maygen is a fashion designer's right hand woman. Being right in the middle of finalizing the fall line and showcase event Maygen is a very busy bee. No time for romance, or so you'd think. Until it runs right into her. Literally.

David and Maygan have a scalding first meeting. Their getting to know each other stage progresses from there.

Of course there's behind the scenes stuff going on that you find out later in the storyline that you wouldn't suspect was happening. Secrets & omissions.

Nothing worth doing is easy. Working for any relationship reaps rewards and this is what David & Maygen must do. Though can they get through the secrets and omissions? Only the story will tell.

I enjoyed reading this book. You never know which way a PTSD sufferer will take you. Dark corners definitely lurk where death and destruction try to take over residence. As David learns how to handle his PTSD without completely shutting down and suffering he leans on Maygen as a support system. This, I think, is important to his success.

A.M. Madden has yet to let me down!! Dark Corners will not disappoint you! I absolutely love this novel and it is one that I will definitely read again!

David is ex-military with PTSD. But, don’t let that fool you. He is an extremely strong willed, hot as hell, sweet guy. He may come off as an ass with his harden exterior but once he lets you in, he will love and protect you forever.

Maygen comes from a wealthy family, however, she is far from being ‘daddies little princess’. She is a down to earth, sweet young lady that you would absolutely want in your corner.

As we watch the sparks come to life between these two, we also watch the struggles and demons that they each are fighting. My heart broken many times for these two. I can’t even tell you how many times I screamed at my kindle for them to knock off their BS. Can these two strong willed, independent people make it last, or will defeat take them down?

Every time I thought I knew where A.M. Madden was taking me in their journey’s, she throws a curveball and you end up where you least expected. I have been a longtime fan of A.M. Madden and every novel she writes makes me fall in love with her a little more. I cannot express just how much I adore the True Hero’s series, while they are all stand-alone novels, I recommend reading them all in order as the characters intertwine. I cannot wait to see where this author brings me next!!!
Thank you very much A.M. for allowing me to read this novel as an advanced readers copy.

Dark Corners is INCREDIBLE! AM Madden at her best!
Heartfelt! Captivating! Sexy! Suspenseful! I loved it!!!
I can’t explain what was different about this book, because I love all of A.M. Madden’s books, but I was cemented to the story. The detailed words just flowed so smoothly where I was going from one chapter into the next without any pause, picturing it all in my head so clearly. I love when a book can suck you into the pages where you feel like you are there with the characters and Dark Corners achieves that.
Dark Corners is written in both Maygen and David’s Point of View. They have so much going on and are both vulnerable in their own insecurities that I was able to empathize with both the characters and their struggles.
David is an Alpha Hero, EX- Military. He is fierce, possessive, quick witted, complex and seductive in the way he pursues Maygen. I fell hard for this bad boy!
Maygen is young & rich with a promising career in Fashion. She is strong willed, courageous, independent, down to earth and I hate to say it “Nice” but she really is so damn NICE! I love her, I love all the characters, maybe not all…AM Madden knows how to write one demented psychotic character that’s for sure.
I connected so much with this story that I am going to have one serious book hangover!!
Dark Corners is gripping, thrilling, suspenseful and “Sexy as Hell”.

let me say AMAZING, I started to read the first chapter and had to put the book down for a day I could read it in one sitting and that's exactly what I did. I was hooked from the beginning.

You have David Cavello a war Vet who is a jokester. He like other vets have seen things they wish wouldn't have while at war and struggles with PTSD. He is going to school and his brother in law is also trying to always help him get a job at the FBI headquarters but nothing seems to interest him.

Then there is Maygen who works at an expensive clothing store, lives in a nice place, has money and has a little spunk to her. Guess this comes in since she always had people look out for her and wants her independence.

David and Maygen meet in the strangest of ways where instant spark but different ends of the world. He's possessive, funny, and very honest and how he tries to win Maygen over just make you smile. The story of the 2 unfolding is just unlike others I have read. The chemistry, sexual tension, humor and she don't forget your I didn't see that coming moments. I didn't want this to end I had to savor every moment of it.

Can I give this a million stars??? NO!?! It deserves a million!!! When A.M. Madden says she is writing a book, I am on the edge of my seat, stalking, and everything else waiting to read it because I know it is going to be amazing. Dark Corners went beyond amazing.....It is PHENOMENAL!!!! I don't believe I have fallen in love with a character like I did David. He completely touch not just my heart but my soul like no other character has before (sorry Trey). This is a story that when you are not reading it, you are thinking about it. After you finished reading it, you are left speechless and will continue to think about long after finishing. My heart completely went out to both David and Maygen. These are characters you cannot help but to love and a story that you will not be able to put down. You get love, suspense, twists, turns, some surprises, a little crazy, some really hot and steamy moments, and simply a story that you cannot put down.

I am honored to have received this ARC for an honest review.

Another amazing book by A.M Madden, I didn't think she could get any better or her men any hotter but she keeps proving me wrong again and again. These star rating system needs updated so I can give this book more than 5 stars. In this book we get to learn more about David whom we meet in Glass Ceilings. David is a vet who is working hard to live with the reality's of life after war and death. Also suffering from PTSD and guilt over things beyond his control. Of course they say once a soldier always a soldier and it's very évident in David. Maygen is just trying to live her life the way she wants doing what she loves without the influence of her very well off father. When they met David sees the light that's been missing and she can calm him no other person. But when Maygen hears some startling news about David, can they recover? And danger lurking in the background will they have a chance at a future? Find out when you read Dark Corners and don't forget to read Stone Walls and Glass Ceilings as well.

Another great and fabulous suck you into the pages by A.M. Madden!! Oh how she has delivered the feels with so much heart and sexiness. David and Maygen's story is one that will definitely stick with you.
The love and heart just oozes it's way into you as you read. There are so many shock moments that I never saw coming at all!
Falling in love is complicated. Have complications in your life from your own personal hell makes life so complicated. But meeting someone that has the power to both cripple you and free you is life changing and beautiful.
I loved catching the glimpses of other characters we have loved so much from past stories.
I wish there were more star options to give for this book because....seriously....wow!
I can't wait for more that is for sure!

☆☆Reviewed for Hooked On Books ☆ ☆

I gave this book 5 Stars!

Once again I am blown away with Mrs. Maddens writting. She starts kind of slow and then Bam! She knocks you on your A$$ and you can't put it down. She has gave us a story about a true American hero and a girl that he will do anything to protect. I love how Mrs. Madden kept putting twist, turns and a surprise that I didn't see coming. I so glad that her and other authors talk about PTSD it let's the world know that it is real thing and there is help out there for them.

David and Maygen have chemistry off the bat and you get feel that come off them in droves. I love how protective David is and love is Alpha ways.

This definitely a one click book and author. Can't wait to see what she writes next.

Loved the premise of this story!

David, an Iraq war veteran had seen what no one else should have ever seen and now he can't get the image out of his head. Returning home was nothing that he expected and he was unprepared for life as a civilian. But things finally begin to change when he happens to bump into (literally) Maygen outside a coffee shop one day.

I'll admit the first half of the book was kind of slow for me and I truly debated on finishing it but I'm so glad I did! About 50% of the way through the book the plot suddenly changes and everything you thought you knew becomes something else. Suddenly you're left questioning everything you've read until that point in the book.

This is where the true story picked up for and what a story it was! The suspense was off the charts and the villain was not someone I would have expected at all!

REVIEW: DARK CORNERS is the third installment in A.M. Madden’s contemporary, adult TRUE HEROES erotic, romantic suspense series. This is former US army Private David Cavello, and fashion designer Maygen Whitney’s story line. DARK CORNERS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Maygen and David) DARK CORNERS follows the building relationship between former US Army Private David Cavello, and fashion designer Maygen Whitney. An accidental meeting wherein David and Maygen ran into one another on the street, finds our hero attempting to make up for sending Maygen on her a$$ in the middle of the sidewalk while spilling her coffee all over herself. What ensues is the developing friendship and love between two people whose lives are about to spiral out of control. David hides a secret that if Maygen finds out will destroy what little trust Maygen has in the man with whom she is falling in love.

David suffers with PTSD and is struggling to get his life back on track. Maygen feels as though she is suffocating with her father’s over-protective nature but when threats against our heroine take a personal turn her father’s protection may not be enough.

The relationship between David and Maygen begins as friendship as our hero stumbles with his attraction to Maygen Whitney. Unwilling to involve Maygen in his nightly PTSD struggles the sexual aspect of their relationship is slow to develop. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Nick Farley and Angelo Cavello (Glass Ceilings #2), Maygen’s over protective father Garrett Whitney, and his business partner Reed Conlon, as well as David and Maygen’s large extended families. Maygen’s boss Dax Storm is the exclusive designer with whom Maygen works, as well as her best friend Betha who is all about getting the details on Maygen’s love life.

The world building follows the preparations for Dax’s upcoming fashion show, as well as David’s struggles with personal demons and PTSD terrors.

DARK CORNERS is a story of emotional heartbreak and healing; betrayal and trust; lies and forgiveness. The premise is intriguing and encouraging; the characters are moving and engaging; the romance is emotional and challenging. DARK CORNERS is an intimate look at one man’s struggles with PTSD, and one woman’s need to save the man with whom she is falling in love.
