Baby-friendly comedy gig set to be launched

If your day-to-day life is dominated by changing nappies and stopping your toddler from eating metal, it's unlikely you get to an awful lot of stand-up comedy.

Well, TantrumXYZ - a website for your more modern parent - is changing that, by hosting a series of comedy shows designed for the time-poor parent who wants a bit of cultural action.

The first show is on Friday 12th August, and is a baby-friendly event in the afternoon, so if you bring the pram (and its contents) the comics will be entirely accommodating to your crying, feeding, puking baby.

And it's a belting line-up for the inaugural Cracking Up: Stand-Up Comedy for New Parents. Scummy Mummies - aka Ellie Gibson and Helen Thorn (pictured) - will be appearing, hot off the success of their parenting comedy podcast, and a UK tour that included a gig at Camp Bestival.

They are joined by three fantastic, critically acclaimed comics: Holly Walsh (Just A Minute, Mock The Week etc), Luke Toulson (Russell Howard's Good News, Perrier Award best newcomer nominee) and the terrific MC Tiernan Douieb, who co-runs the hugely successful Comedy Clubs 4 Kids.

TantrumXYZ promises parents "an afternoon that is nearly as good as a night of uninterrupted sleep", and it doesn't get much better than that. Mums, dads, nannies, grandparents and friends are all welcome, the only stipulation being that there is at least one baby per group. There will also be a small number of highchairs and a little bit of soft play for older babies and toddlers.

The show takes place at the rather snazzy Pergola on the Roof, in west London. Here are the full details:

WHEN: Friday, August 12, from 1.30-3.30pm.

WHERE: Pergola on the Roof, Wood Lane, W12, located a few minutes' walk from Wood Lane tube station, which has a lift for buggy access.
