Goat Thing of the Day: Germs Are Baaaad, M’Kay?

Lee, of Simply Rooted sent me via iPhone this little gem in the animal petting area of a CSA/pick-your-own farm called Great Country Farms in Bluemont, Virginia.

germs are baaad, great country farms

Andย  Thomas (of 101 Things in 1001 Days) showed me a couple of goaty items. I don’t know why they don’t just start a website called Goats of Walmart because they just keep coming:

goat in walmart

And once again, with apologies to my many many thousands and thousands of Kindle subscribers who don’t have video capability, that is until the Edgar Allen Poe Signature Edition of the Kindle 5000x with Dual Exhaust comes out, here is a video of a goat bridge. With goats and everything.

(Link to goat video, if above embedded link does not work.)

Got something goaty for Goat Thing of the Day? Here are the submission guidelines.

We are also taking submissions for the 2011 NGIP Goat Calendar.

    Goats of Wal-Mart FTW!

  2. You really SHOULD start a website called Goats of Walmart!

  3. At least dude's got his goat muzzled and on a leash. I've seen kids in Walmart who weren't that well parented.

    1. I was trying to figure out why the goat was muzzled, but the owner probably got tired of having to buy stuff that the goat had chomped on in the store: potato chips, diapers, boom boxes, general office supplies…

I'm having a hard time even making it past the title of this post….I can't get the South Park theme song out of my head.

    1. Yay! Somebody called South Park out. I'm not sure if others got it, I'm assuming some did, but thank you for that validation. And I apologize for the now incessant theme music in your head. “Goin' down to South Park, gonna have myself a tahhm…” Oh, sorry that doesn't help, does it.

    Goats of Walmart! Goattastic!! (-:

    1. Oooh, “goattastic”. Can I use that?

  6. Why are those poor goats forced to walk over that bridge? Some of them look scared!

Is that Wal-Mart goat wearing a mask or a feedbag?

I think they should make people who drag their goats through Wal-Mart walk along a high, scary bridge.

    1. Excellent connection, JD. Way to tie it all together!

  7. Jenny Beans says:

The goat bridge scared me. I imagined being a goat, being forced to have to walk across it and almost falling off. Now I'm going to sit in the corner and maaah for awhile, as I try to wash the goat bridge out of my memory.

    1. Awwww, you poor thing. Shall I bring you some leafy greens? Will make it better? Or a greasy cheeseburger.

  8. J. Bear Savo says:

Sometimes in Walmart, it's hard to determine who's the goat and who's the person.

    1. Oooh, excellent point, Mr. Savo.

  9. Mama Zen says:

    Happy Birthday!

    1. Awww, thank you, Mama Zen!

  10. Sue Seese says:

I suppose it was only a matter of time before I saw a goat in WalMart.

    1. Goats are EVERYWHERE, Sue! Resistance is futile!

  11. Nezzy says:

What a hoot that bridge it! I'm just amazed how many goats in Walmart pics there are. It's like “Netty, let's collar up the goat and go shoppin' in the big Wally World.” Heeehehehe….really????

You have yourself a grand weekend!!!

    1. I'm telling you, there needs to be a Goats of Walmart website – hee hee!

  12. I love the goat bridge!!! You know what it reminds me of? I wonderful old German clock with all kinds of moving parts….!

    1. You're right! Or like a Rube-Goldberg device. ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Pricilla says:

Goats love to climb. I can attest to this as I am a well, goat. But I am getting on in years so it is more fun for me to watch OTHER goats climbing.

I will just take the grain at the end, thank you

    1. Ha! I can see you watching the others as you walk around to the finish line at the bottom as beat everyone else to the grain!

  14. Jb says:

There is a little goat bridge with some kind of food pulley at a farmstand near us, but this video…WOW…that is quite an elaborate bridge! I wonder if they ever fall off that? Do you think there are ever goats that are afraid of heights? Crazy stuff, gotta love it!

    1. I'm always amazing at watching goats walk in high places be it bridges, beams, or cliffs without any fear. Or so it appears.

  15. Mojo says:

OMG the Goats of Walmart photo looks just like my ex wife! And the human with her looks like her too!

You might have seen these guys already, and I didn't really intend it as a submission, but hey… it works. Haaaaappy Birthdaaaay Maaargaret!

wherein i narrowly save my birthday party throwing reputation

    1. Oh dear, I just saw your comment here, but I saw your post earlier and if that' snot an academy award winning short film over there, I don't 'know what is.

  16. Goats of Walmart– Love that.
    Cheers,
    jj

  17. DrowseyMonkey says:

what's with the bridge? it's very elaborate!

    1. I have no idea. It seems to just wander aimlessly, doesn't it?

  18. Nicky says:

Now, see, I instantly wondered why the goat would drag his human pet to Wal-Mart. That goat bridge is really cool. Do you think it would be strange for me to build one in my backyard if I don't have any goats?

    1. Not at all. Because even if it's a goat bridge, you'll probably dinosaurs, dodo birds and other ridiculous animals showing up to play on it. Make sure you take pictures. And I think dodo birds like cheese, if I'm not mistaken.

  19. Jenny says:

Them bridge goats is sans knickers. Perhaps a special collection to buy them panties so they look extra spiffy as they go across? JAT. We could get 'em at Wal-Mart.

    1. Yes, because all the discerning goats get their panties at Walmart! ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. After watching that video, I'm thinking that there should be search and rescue goats, police goats, goat Olympics.

    1. Before I die, there will be goat EVERYTHING.

  21. Pretty sure that is the tallest goat bridge I've ever seen, and I've seen some goat bridges. Like, 2 of them! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Me too. On BOTH accounts! ๐Ÿ™‚

  22. Janiss says:

With just a few tweaks, that goat bridge could be turned into something that would make Rube Goldberg proud.

    1. Are the trolls wart-infested? 'Cause if they're not, then forget it.

    2. Whoops! Sorry, Janiss. I coulda sworn I was responding to Joanna when I asked about the warts.

And yes, you're right, that bridge totally looks like a Rube Goldberg device.

  23. joannmannix says:

I have no goats. I do have trolls that live under my blog bridge and I will gladly give you a few of those.

    1. Are the trolls wart-infested? 'Cause if they're not, then forget it.

  24. Momma Drama says:

that is too funny. I'm going to go be OCD about finding something goat-y to get into your calendar… hmmm… surely that won't be hard.

    1. Bring it on, Momma Drama! The judges are still looking at pics and would love to see what you've got!

  25. SueAnn says:

Well the goat bridge is cool…but why? I mean it takes them nowhere!!! Ha! Guess that is the point, huh?
    Hugs
    SueAnn

    1. Pricilla says:

      Oh, it's in Alaska?

      1. What? Is the bridge in Alaska? Wait, what are you guys talking about? I'm lost.
