Ryanair passenger hysterical as plane's window frame falls onto his lap during landing
A holidaymaker was left horrified when a plane's window frame fell on his lap during landing.
Teaching Assistant Laurence Gibson (37) was arriving into London's Stansted airport after a week-long holiday in Gdansk with his partner Matt on Sunday at around 12.30am when the incident happened.
"It was the scariest moment of my life. I'm a nervous flyer as it is but this has just made it worse," he said.
"As soon as we touched down the inside of the window just fell into my lap. Landing is the worst part for me and I was already clutching Matt's hand before. I was absolutely hysterical for a while."
Laurence said the flight had been booked through Ryanair but it was operated by Air Explore.
Although he was left shaken, he spoke highly of the staff's response.
"To be fair to the staff though, they were really nice about it. They couldn't apologise enough."
A statement from Ryanair issued to Caters News Agency said they were aware of the incident and were taking steps to ensure it wouldn't happen again.
"We note the dislodging of this window reveal (which is used only to protect the window from scratches) and have asked the operator of this lease-in aircraft (Air Explore) to ensure that it does not recur," it read.
