A&E / UTC is big. There are four separate areas for resuscitation, major illness/injury, minor problems, and children <17. The same doctors work in all 4 areas. That's why you sometimes have to wait.- Came here to give birth to our twin girls. The pre-natal care is top notch, but post-natal can be of troublesome due to limited facility space (as with most London hospitals).
There's some cool hospital history on the way to outpatients on the first floor - worth a look if you have time :)- If you have been sent to A&E with a letter after seeing your GP, you will see a specialist more quickly - but only if the GP also phoned the specialist in advance to tell them you're coming.
- In the emergency department, patients aren't seen in strict time order. Those who are more seriously unwell or injured are prioritised, as are young children.

Ian MulvanyJuly 1, 2012If you are deciding where to have a baby, opt for the BBC midwife led birthing centre, they are amazing.
You get a good signal on O2 ;3.5G in Xray. No signal on Vodafone or BT mobile though.
Go to the coffee shop across the road discount for NHS staff.
There's always a long waiting time in Dermatology. Best to bring a paper.

Be nice to the staff. They are overworked and under paid.
No air conditioning - don't wear a jumper, wear shorts and a string vest - you'll dehydrate otherwise

Be prepared to wait. Appointment times are very notional.
