Dearest ArtWeLove enthusiasts,
How's the weather by you?
Here in New York City, it's hot and humid.
So how cool... refreshing.... almost necessary that today's edition is Brooklyn-based land artist Molly Dilworth's Times Square Pour.
You may remember Molly from a couple of weeks back, when we introduced you to her via the incredibly affordable Daily Practice series. We were delighted to offer Daily Practice at such low prices because it was based upon her recent rooftop paintings, specially planned to be viewable (and enjoyable) via Google Earth's satellites.
Molly's back with another ArtWeLove edition, Times Square Pour. And it's all about keeping cool in the city. Ironically, she's getting hotter and hotter, with glowing reviews in Vogue Italia, on ABC, via WNYC, and throughout the mainstream press.
Times Square Pour comes right on time, as a celebration of Molly’s latest public-art project, Cool Water, Hot Island, currently on view in Times Square. This installation, occupying 5 public plazas, doesn't just beautify. Her abstracted heat maps reflect sunlight, making the city's hottest and most congested areas more comfortable.
Then again, Molly is all about sharing and technology. Her works are immersive and experiential. She makes herself (and views of her works in progress) accessible via Flickr and Facebook. You can even view live video footage from Times Square via EarthCam.com and watch the progress unfold on Cam 11. Take a look now; you'll see a view from above. Notice how Molly's Times Square installation is a real-life representation of her edition,
Times Square Pour.
That's all for now. Stay cool, keep collecting, thanks for your enthusiasm, and Happy Bastille Day!
