Irak: près 500 corps exhumés des fosses communes de Tikrit - Moyen-Orient - RFI - C'est en juin 2014, dans les jours qui suivent l'offensive éclair de l'organisation Etat islamique sur Mossoul et Tikrit, que le massacre est perpétré. Plusieurs centaines de jeunes soldats irakiens sont rassemblées dans le camp militaire de Speicher, situé au nord de la ville. Les soldats, sans armes et sans uniformes, sont exécutés un par un.
Un massacre revendiqué et même documenté par l'organisation Etat islamique, qui a elle-même filmé et diffusé sur internet les images de la tuerie. Selon les estimations, près de 2 000 soldats sont massacrés en moins de 24 heures, ce qui en fait l'un des actes les plus atroces commis par l'organisation jihadiste.
