Two bodies found floating in Staten Island waters earlier this month identified

The bodies found floating off the coast of Staten Island over the past 10 days have been identified as Jeffrey Lee, 20, and Xiao Bo Zhu, 24, both of Brooklyn.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The decomposed bodies of two men found floating in the waters off the coast of Staten Island over the past 10 days have been identified, police said.

Both are Brooklyn men of Asian descent in their early 20s.

The body of Xiao Bo Zhu, 24, of Brooklyn,was found in Lower New York Bay, near the beginning of the Ambrose Channel, on May 13. He was reported missing on April 21, police said.

Zhu had been reported missing on April 21, an NYPD spokesman said. The New York Post reported that a possible suicide note was found on his body.

The man found a few days later, in the waters off the coast of Oakwood Beach, has been identified as Jeffrey Lee, a 20-year-old Brooklyn man who was reported missing last month.

Lee, a Sunset Park resident, was reported missing on April 10, police said. He sent an email indicating his intention to commit suicide prior to his disappearance, an NYPD spokesman said.

The body of Jeffrey Lee, 20, of Sunset Park, Brooklyn, was found floating off the coast of Oakwood Beach on May 16. He had been reported missing on April 10.

A funeral for Lee, who identified on social media as a Binghamton University student, was held Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Brooklyn, according to his Facebook page.
