STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Move over Staten Island Chuck, there's a new rodent in town.

A couple of fluffy week-old beavers are melting hearts in the Staten Island Zoo's nursery this week after being rescued upstate.

The zoo rescued the cuddly-looking female kits, as baby beavers are called, after their mother was killed in a trap upstate, near Ithaca, the zoo's general curator and veterinarian, Dr. Marc Valitutto, told am New York.

The beaver babes, who each weigh just over a pound, will be on display in the zoo's nursery until they're transferred to a new exhibit at the Children's Center this fall, amNY reported.

The zoo posted a 15-second video of the kits on its Facebook and Instagram pages that's already been viewed nearly 60,000 times in just a couple days.

By popular demand... here are... the beavers.
