David and Sandra Gibbs receive Community Service Award.

HAMLIN TWP. — David and Sandra Gibbs received the 2014 Ludington & Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Community Service Award during the chamber’s annual banquet Saturday at Lincoln Hills Golf Club.

David and Sandra were nominated for the award because of their work as volunteers and board members of COVE (Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters). But, their involvement in the community goes back generations as part of the Gibbs family, that owned Gibbs Country House Restaurant.

“It brings tears to my eyes,” Sandra said. “There are so many people who deserve this.”

“Really accepting this award for all the volunteers who do so many wonderful things in our community,” David said. “To win it is just really overwhelming.”
