Medical Cannabis Bill Approved by Florida’s Senate Rules Committee

Florida’sflorida Senate Rules Committee has voted 11 to 1 to approve Senate Bill 7066, a proposal to significantly expand upon a medical cannabis bill passed by lawmakers in 2014. The measure has already been approved unanimously by the Senate Health Policy Committee, and with an 11 to 1 vote by the Senate Regulated Industries Committee.

In July, 2014, Florida Governor Rick Scott signed into law a proposal that legalized low-THC cannabis extracts for the treatment of cancer, epilepsy and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Senate Bill 7066 would increase the number of qualifying conditions, adding multiple sclerosis, Crohn’s disease, HIV/AIDS, Parkinson’s disease, paraplegia, quadriplegia and terminal illness to the list. The proposal would also significantly increase the number of licensed producers and distributors of cannabis medicines.

In January, legislation to legalize medical cannabis – not just cannabis extracts – was filed in the state’s Senate (Senate Bill 528), though it has yet to advance.

Senate Bill 7066 is now up for a full Senate vote.

I’ve jumped straight up the second the front tire of my motorcycle t-boned a car that turn in front of me, I flew at least 80 feet and landed in the road. A truck pulling a 40 foot landscaping trailer did a 90 degree turn to miss me but the wheels of the trailer were headed straight for my chest, I put both hands on the road beneath me and pushed myself backwards 1 arms length. The wheel ran over my right thigh blowing out 3 inches of my femur !. My partner Maureen would not allow the docs to amputate so they installed 2 metal bars, 12 screws and reconnected my femur! The docs were not very confident it would work. Well, I still got the leg and walk fairly well 8 years later. I refuse to take any of the drugs the docs had me on for years, Herb enables me to manage this 10 acre horse ranch with 4 horses 2 cats and one other senior citizen I look out for. The government will not let me off disability, forever! Herb is the only way I am able to really walk like I used too and have no problems, not to mention it helps to enable me to stay festive and happy, pain free. Please lets get it legal!!!!!!!!!!

Send your post to the legislature. These blogs are always full to the brim with people talking about all the reasons and all their ailments that should qualify them to use MM. That does no good for the cause. Legislators need to be deluged with these testimonials. We need to be firm and unrelenting. We all need to find our representatives on Facebook, and call or write until we get a positive response. They need to know that we are “mad as hell and we aren’t going to take it anymore”. They are there to represent us, not Big Pharma. Apathy is what is killing this country. We are allowing ourselves to be ruled instead of represented.
