Scottville passes ORV ordinance.

April 20, 2015

SCOTTVILLE — Scottville City Commission passed an off-road-vehicle ordinance during its regular meeting Monday. Since last fall, the city has had a temporary traffic order in place that has allowed ORVs in limited places in town. The temporary traffic order, issued by Scottville Police Dept., was seen as a probation period to see what type of usage and issues the city would have.

City Attorney Tracy Thompson said the city did not experience issues with ORV users. The ordinance, which is more permanent, will have less restrictions then the traffic order. However, ORV users will not be allowed to ride on or along U.S. 10 (State Street).
