Japan's confidence hit by sales tax hike
Japan's business confidence survey shows companies are not feeling too optimistic about the economy.
The Tankan survey, which measures sentiment among major Japanese manufacturers, was lower than experts had expected, with the index standing at 12 in March, rather than 14 as forecast.
It's still affected by the sales tax hike which came in exactly a year ago.
One silver lining is the weakness of the Japanese yen because it makes exporters more competitive. But it's also helping to attract a record number of tourists. Mariko Oi reports.
