Scottville man faces 8 felonies for invading homes, stealing guns; 2 others arrested

LUDINGTON — A 32-year-old Scottville man faces eight felony counts stemming from several home invasions involving the theft of rifles, shotguns and handguns.

Joshua Lee Joynes, of 211 E. Johnson Rd., was arrested Tuesday, Feb. 24, by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office on three counts of first-degree home invasion; three counts of felony firearms; one count of second-degree home invasion; and one count of using a computer to commit a crime.

Stephanie Lynn Joynes, 32, was arrested on a felony charge of receiving and concealing a firearm. Arthur Warner Tyra, 45, faces felony charges of receiving and concealing a firearm; felony firearm; and habitual offender, fourth offense.

All three suspects are lodged in the Mason County Jail.

“The Mason County Sheriff’s Office and the Ludington Police Department have been investigating day-time home invasions involving the thefts of stolen guns,” states an MCSO press release issued Thursday morning, Feb. 26. “The guns stolen were long guns, which included rifles and shotguns, along with handguns. These home invasions date back to 2013 that occurred in Mason County and the City of Ludington.”

MSCO was also assisted in the investigation by the Mount Pleasant post of the Michigan State Police.

According to Joshua Joynes’ court file, he is scheduled to appear in 79th District Court for a probable cause hearing, March 11, at 11:15 a.m., and a preliminary exam, March 18, at 1:15 p.m.
