It’s been a good year for Sleater-Kinney fans, and it’s about to get even better: Carrie Brownstein is set to release her memoir this fall. The book, which has been in the works since 2012, is titled Hunger Makes Me A Modern Girl, after a line in Sleater-Kinney’s The Woods song “Modern Girl”. It’s scheduled to hit book shelves on October 27th.

According to her publisher, Penguin, it is “the deeply personal and revealing narrative of Brownstein’s life in music, from ardent fan to pioneering female guitarist to comedic performer and luminary in the independent rock world.” The description further adds: “This book intimately captures what it feels like to be a young woman in a rock-and-roll band, from her days at the dawn of the underground feminist punk rock movement that would define music and pop culture in the 1990s through today.”

In related news, Brownstein recently interviewed Kim Gordon about her own memoir, Girl in a Band.
