Business Courses Available for Displaced Target Team Members

The University of St.Thomas Opus College of Business announced Wednesday that, in partnership with Target, it would offer executive education non-degree courses at no charge, as well as reduced tuition in graduate degree programs, to recently displaced Target team members. The offers apply to all displaced Target team members, whether or not they are UST alumni.

“Community building and advancing the common good are at the heart of our values," said Opus College of Business Dean Stefanie Lenway. "We estimate that more than 1,500 UST undergraduate and graduate business alumni are employed by Target, and we felt compelled to do something for our St. Thomas family as well as the broader community of people affected by the Target layoffs.”

The course offerings include programs through the Executive Education Department that can be completed in a week or less in a variety of subjects, including: project management, Internet marketing, supply chain management and business analytics. Costs are covered by Target.

In addition, the Opus College of Business will provide a 40 percent reduction to the published tuition for its Evening or Full-time UST MBA programs.

“Education is a valuable tool to help people transform their passions and talents into new career opportunities,” said Lenway. “We offer these resources to retain talent in the communities in which we live and serve during this difficult time.”
