Samsung's affordable Galaxy J1 launches in Europe

While the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are the indisputable stars of Samsung's 2015 line-up of smartphones, since the beginning of the year the company introduced several other handsets. One of them is the Galaxy J1, which is currently Samsung's newest low-end smartphone.

Released last month in a few Asian markets, the Galaxy J1 is now also available to buy in Europe (only in Netherlands and Germany, but we assume more countries will get the handset soon). An unlocked Galaxy J1 costs €120 - a price that's a bit on the high side, considering the fact that you can get smartphones with better specs for that kind of money (the new Motorola Moto E is a good example).

The Galaxy J1 runs Android 4.4 KitKat, and sports a 4.3-inch TFT display with 480 x 800 pixels. It doesn't have LTE connectivity, so you'll have to make do with 3G speeds. Powered by a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, the new handset further features a 5 MP rear camera, 2 MP front-facing camera, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal memory, and microSD card support. The J1 comes with a 1850 mAh battery and Samsung's Ultra Power Saving mode. Interested?
